Symptom

When performing a SELECT on calculation views deployed via BW the database instantly returns the error

Error: SAP DBTech JDBC: [2048]: column store error: search table error:

[34023] Instantiation of calculation model failed;exception 306101:

Analytic Privilege is not supported on CALCSCENDS_OLAP_MERGE '$ARG3$'

SAP HANA Database 1.0

Reproducing the Issue

• Steps to reporoduce it on the Application Server

1. Goto transaction RSA1 and search for composite provider
2. Right click on composite provider
3. Click on display data
4. Select some fields to show data
5. Execute F8 button
6. The error in the Symptom's section is shown
• Steps to reproduce issue in HANA Studio
1. Expand Content folder
2. Navigate to the Calculation view
3. Right click on the Calculation View
4. Click on Data preview
5. Give any date as selection
6. Select any field for axis
7. The error in the Symptom's section is shown

Cause

This is caused by an unsupported analytical privilege modelling as Calculation views cannot be built-on top of
OLAP views that are secured with analytical privileges.

Resolution

1. Remove analytical privileges from underlying OLAP views and then redeploy the affected model(s)
2. Set the "Apply Privileges" property of the related pure HANA Views (not BW-related views) to "No
Privileges"
