Much : Is followed by uncountable nouns in interrogative and negative sentences


Many : Is followed by countable nouns in interrogative and negative sentences

e.g : (-) There are not many vehicles


(-) There are not many traffic lights in the city.
(-) There is not much smoke from the vehicles
(-) There is not much air pollution
3. Ask and tell amount of something with using : A lot of

A lot of : is followed by countable and uncountable nouns,


usually in positive sentences.
e.g : - There are a lot of people in the classroom
- There are a lot of books on the table
- There is a lot of milk in the refrigerator
4. To ask about quantity How much, How many

• How Much + Uncountable nouns


e.g - How much sugar is there in the bottle?
- how much water is there in the pond?

• How many + Countable nouns


e.g - how many people are there in the classroom?
- how many ticket that you bought ?
