Bible Study for Pregnancy
and Infant loss
If you have been signed up for a while for the pregnancy
and infant loss classes, don’t despair! They will begin
soon. Please know that we are in the process of some very
big changes at Anchored By Hope, and our intended
schedule may be slightly delayed. We are still hoping to
have one session before the summer; Kristie and Katy will
be leading one in June, and we do hope to have a leader
for the next study by the end of February. If you have
taken the class and would like to lead one, please contact
Kristie to discuss more of the details of leading one online.
Want to know more about the classes? ABH holds at least 3
sessions a year of a pregnancy and infant loss Bible study
called Threads of Hope, Pieces of Joy. The session is held
in an online conference room. When you sign up, we send
you a code, and you then follow the link. You sign in using
a secret password, and either call in with your phone, or
use your computers microphone and speaker. We meet

The start of one inspired idea, and completing the
circle where we first began.
In September of 2008 our family welcomed
a tiny baby girl into the world; however,
she came to us silently. I was only in my
second trimester, and Samantha would not
live to see the world we wanted to
welcome her into. After taking the grief
support Bible study at New Beginnings, I
found myself changed inside. I wanted
God to use me to do something for others
like He used New Beginnings to do for me.
In less than a year, I found myself
immersed in a community I never knew
existed: the online world of grieving
mothers.
The American Pregnancy
Association says there are 1,995,840
pregnancies lost each year. I wonder
where those women are turning for
comfort? Many women are logging onto
social networks, blogs, and other grief
support forums that allow for anonymity
from seemingly unsupportive family
members or communities. Unfortunately,

what I could not find online was a Christian
grief support Bible study. So I set out to
facilitate it. One of the women from the
first group, Katy Larsen, came along side
me with the same passion for grieving
moms, and suddenly the ministry had a
name and a purpose. Anchored By Hope
seeks to meet the needs of grieving
women online; sharing hope,
encouragement, and Christ’s love in a way
that confirms the grief they feel, and
supports them as they contemplate their
faith, and how to move forward after a loss.
In the last year and a half ABH has
grown beyond the scope of what we could
have ever imagined. Over 145 people
currently follow our online ministry
through blogs and Facebook. We have
completed 5 sessions of Bible studies with
over 30 women having finished it. For one
short month we facilitated a live radio
show sharing topics
specifically for grieving (Continued on page 4)

What is Butterfly Mommies?
Butterfly Mommies is a directory
of blogs in the online community
who have lost babies during or
shortly after pregnancy. It
follows their journeys where they
have been, where they are, and
where their dreams are leading
them.
Who can join?
Anyone. We have several
categories of loss:
• First trimester loss
• Second trimester loss
• Third trimester loss
• Early infant loss
• Fatal pregnancy
diagnosis (CTT)

women. Those four shows had over 500 listens after it
aired. The need is great, but we cannot do it alone.
In a beautiful design, the circle is now being
completed as Anchored By Hope has come back to New
Beginnings for help. We are searching for women who are
willing to volunteer on a team, helping this ministry as it
continues to grow. Have you lost a child during pregnancy?
It doesn’t matter how early your loss is, there are women
searching for support, and aching for the hope only the
Lord gives in such dark times.
ABH Hosts a New
Blog Talk Radio Show
I know many of you have been anxiously awaiting news on
our ABH radio show. We have been working hard behind
the scenes to get this plan in place.
One of the biggest issues with creating a show is to
have the team behind you to make it happen. We are still
in the process of building that team! We’ve added one
new host, and are in the process of adding even more. If
this is something you’d be interested in working with,
either live on the air, or behind the scenes, contact
Kristie@anchoredbyhope.com or use this link to fill out an
application.
IF you have never heard of our show, let me explain
just a little bit about what we do. One or two hosts go live
on the air and talk about topics relevant to grieving moms.
This season we will be adding some more kinds of shows,
such as interviewing some of our blog author friends. So if
you have a blog that positively affects others, you might
be invited to be our next guest! We are also doing
question/answer shows, where viewers can call in with
questions about grief and we can discuss it live.
Stay tuned for the announcement of our first show.
There will be some awesome giveaways, some great
discussion, and as always encouraging scripture and
prayer.
What can you do?
Are you wondering how you can help ABH? There are so many
ways we can use your help. First, let me reiterate the need for an
ABH support team. Our volunteers will form a sort of committee.
We will work together to encourage and support the grieving
mothers in our community online. Some of our team members
will be prayer partners, some will lead studies, some will
monitor our discussion forums, and some will work on the radio
show, some will make gifts. There are so many ways to help I
couldn’t begin to list them all. We’ll meet together on a regular
basis with our team at New Beginnings, our new sponsors.
