Isra when you arrived in the classroom the other day you were so full of life and started

to move
around actively from activities to activities as all the tables were set up with variety of activities.
There is evidence in your learning stories that you love to explore, which was what you have been
doing. I have noticed that you went to all the tables to explore all those activities set in each table.
When you came to the table where some children were engaged on Montessori activities you
decide to do spooning work. So you took the tray which contained some big nuts in one bowl, one
empty bowl and a spoon. You sat at the table and started to explore using your hands. So I came
over with the intention of showing you how to use the spoon. Masha Allah you are a good learner
and tried to follow my instruction and started to transfer the nuts from one bowl to another using
the spoon. You are good at counting , so when you were spooning each of those large nuts you
were counting very clearly. As you were just exploring this special activity, so when you tried to
use your hands or pour the whole content from one container to other I wasn’t too fussy as I
know that you are just developing your spooning skills.

What Learning Happening Here?


Through this activity Isra was:
 Learning how to use a spoon
 Developing hand –eye co-ordination
 Increasing concentration,
 Building up self esteem which can be
leading to independence
 Trying to be creative.
What’s next?
Isra, we will ensure that you get enough
opportunity to further develop your
practical life skills, perhaps next time you try
with a pair of tongs.
