In order to fully understand the context and rationale of Food Insecurity, the Lasallian Reflection Framework
was utilized. Through the LRF, the social issue's key information was obtained through Masid-Danas. With Masid-
Danas, a quick glimpse to Food Insecurity in the Philippines, and statistics have revealed the severity of the issue, for
instance 19 million Filipinos experiencing hunger and a worsened underweight percentage. Given these facts, the
aggravating effects are revealed, for instance malnutrition and poor development among children and the community.
On the other hand, employing LRF's Suri-Nilay allowed for a deeper understanding of the issue. Key to Suri-Nilay is
a critical reflection and the usage of tools of analysis. Employing such in the issue, it was found out that Food
Insecurity, among its facts and figures that are known previously, are deeply rooted in poverty and unemployment.
More so, several political, economic, and social structures and forces are greatly contributing t the issue, and these
factors are even taken-for-granted realities and continue to sustain hunger and food insecurity among communities.
Realizing the gravity of the issue and in the spirit of Lasallian service for the marginalized, a call to action and response
to the issue is initiated. Through employing Taya-Kilos, there are several actions that can be done to combat such
issue, such as engaging in organizations and communities to alleviate and reduce food insecurity, and continuously
calling on the government to strengthen laws, programs, and initiatives to improve the agriculture sector in the country
and promote food security within communities. From commitment to action, it is also appropriate to launch projects
and initiatives to contribute or at least reduce food insecurity in the community, strengthening a committed action that
can be undertaken towards addressing the issue. Food insecurity is a social issue that needs to be addressed, and with
the help of the LRF, one has the ability to see the surface reality of the issue, critically examine and judge, and
correspondingly act on it.
