Bogus News on Facebook with Fabricated Quotes Fuelled the Flames

IT security and control firm, Sophos, warn that more than one million Facebook
users are believed to have fallen for a hoax claiming that the popular website will
close its doors on March 15th. A bogus news story, published by the "Weekly World
News", said that Mark Zuckerberg had told reports that "managing [Facebook] has
ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness." In a panic, Facebook users
have spread the story far and wide across the internet. Although Facebook
debunked the hoax via its Twitter account late on Sunday, users continue to pass
the bogus messages onto their online friends.

Sophos has made a video demonstrating the scale of the hoax's impact, and
debunking the myth that the site will cease to be on the Ides of March-

The "Weekly World News" article went on to quote another company official, Avrat
Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook, as saying "After March
15th the whole website shuts down. So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I
recommend you take them off the internet. You won't be able to get them back
once Facebook goes out of business."

Sophos believes that many people would not believe the report, which comes from
a newspaper that has previously reported George Clooney is running for president
and that alien spacecrafts will visit earth in 2011. However, it only takes a small
proportion of people to think it might be possible to turn a joke of a news story into
an internet hoax."I certainly wouldn't disagree that users would be wise to have
their own backup of their photographs, rather than rely on Facebook - but it's
nothing more than a scare to suggest to people that they have to do it before
March15th because Facebook is going to close down," explained Graham Cluley,
Senior Technology Consultant at Sophos. "There's an important lesson here -don't
believe everything you read on the internet, and think twice before you pass a story
on to your friends."
Although a hoax is not as serious as malware worming its way between users and
stealing information, it's still a nuisance, clogging up communications, increasing
the overall level of spam and perhaps leading people to make decisions for the
wrong reasons.

Jabra Launches Two New Hands-Free

Jabra, has announced two new offerings Cruiser 2 and WAVE, thus extending the
company’s leadership position in the Indian hands free market.

Speaking on the announcement Jonathan Tang, APAC Managing Director of Jabra

Mobile Business said: “We now offer a full portfolio of hands-free products and look
forward to continuing to help grow the market as consumers become more
informed about the benefits of hands-free solutions. The Jabra CRUISER2, the next
generation of the critically acclaimed CRUISER in-car speakerphone, builds on
Jabra’s extensive experience developing easy-to-use products that enhance users’
everyday lifestyle and the Jabra WAVE will offer even greater comfort as these
behind-the-ear legacy products, with a thinner, sleeker design.”

Jabra CRUISER2 is looking to provide a “no excuses” approach to hands-free driving

in an effort to change consumer behavior.

With ease-of-use in mind, Jabra CRUISER2 has several new features that set it apart
from other in-car speakerphones including Caller ID – the speakerphone will tell you
who is calling, exactly how you have the caller programmed into your mobile phone
(for example, “Mom calling” or “Martin Work calling”) - and Voice Guidance to both
guide users through the set-up process and to clearly tell you connectivity status
and low battery levels.

In addition, the FM Transmitter gives the ability to transmit and play MP3s from a
mobile device to the car’s stereo system via the in-car speakerphone. With Noise
Blackout technology that reduces ambient sound without comprising voice quality,
the Jabra CRUISER2 features strategically placed microphones that are able to
distinguish between background noise and the caller’s voice, ensuring optimized
audio without distracting noise from other passengers or outside traffic.

Both Jabra WAVE and Cruiser2 can be connected to up to two devices at the same
time via Multiuse technology, allowing users to transition seamlessly between
multiple phones, or even internet calls if connected to a Bluetooth enabled PC.
Voice guidance takes the guesswork out of operating a headset or in-car
speakerphone by notifying users of the crucial status updates, such as connectivity
and low battery.

Jabra Cruiser2 is available in the India market at the price of Rs. 5999 and Jabra
Wave is available in the Indian market at the price of Rs. 3899
Data Centers Get New Consolidation Box Solution

The Indian data center market is projected to touch $1.1 billion by 2015. This
creates a huge requirement for cabling solutions. To satisfy this need, Swiss cabling
specialist R&M has developed a new subfloor cabling solution for data centers. The
R&M Floor / Consolidation Box solution serves as an intermediate distributor in
double floors in zone distribution and storage areas. It reduces patch panels in the
racks or cabinets, freeing up space there for active components. The new advance
is an aid in increasing the equipment density in computer rooms and in quickly
building up high performance networks using 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 40/100
Gigabit Ethernet. As many as 288 fiber-optic or copper cable terminations fit into
one unit. It is also suitable for combining the two media.

R&M markets 19" patch panels from its own range of data center products for
configuration. Up to six patch panels can be incorporated in the raised floor
solution. R&M has planning aids to help cabling projects run more smoothly and pre-
terminates factory-inspected assembly kits that are delivered just in time.

The R&M Floor / Consolidation box solution consists of a steel box that is inserted
seamlessly into the 600 x 600 millimeter grid of raised floors. It is fastened to
supports in the raised floor and connected to cable runs in a quick installation
procedure. For example, each distributor cabinet or row of cabinets can be assigned
one box. The subfloor design meets the requirements in international standards for
structured cabling in data centers: TIA 942, IEC 24764 and EN 50173-5.

Gaurav Ahluwalia, Managing Director of R&M India says, "The new floor /
consolidation box Solution is developed keeping in mind the requirement of new
age data centers. This platform enables increased productivity of the data center.
The significance of this platform is that the surface area of the data center need not
be increased."

Besides applications in data centers, the R&M raised floor solution can also be used
in offices, control stands, command centers, clinics, surveillance or monitoring
centers, on the trading floor of stock exchanges and in other similar settings.

Cisco Intros New Catalyst Switch Family

Cisco has introduced the Cisco Catalyst 3560-C and Catalyst 2960-C Compact Series
(C-Series) Switches, expanding the Borderless Networks portfolio’s ability to deliver
highly secure, cost-effective network connectivity and power outside the wiring
closet. The new switches are designed for locations that pose unique wiring, space
or power challenges. The new Cisco C-Series Switches illustrate Cisco’s
commitment to solve unique customer challenges even in the most nontraditional of
networking environments, as networks’ expand their reach and scope.
Cisco C-Series Switches are compact versions of the Cisco Catalyst 3560-X Series
and 2960-S Series, with the same functionality, OS and management capabilities as
their wiring-closet brethren, and are roughly half the size of an Xbox console. Cisco
C-Series Switches enable the deployment of highly secure advanced customer
services, including unified communications, wireless access, IP video and other
applications in wiring-, space-, and power-constrained environments. With Cisco’s
pass-through Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability, the C-Series Switches eliminate
the need for access to power outlets and dramatically reduce cabling complexities
and overall infrastructure requirements.

According to the press release, Cisco’s Industrial Ethernet 3000 and 3010 Series
Switches provide much-needed connectivity in harsh manufacturing environments,
such as those subject to extreme temperature fluctuations, vibrations, and other
challenging conditions, so the Cisco Catalyst C-Series Switches are designed to
enable the agile delivery of network services in environments where unique wiring
challenges would otherwise require the disruption of regular business operations.
Such environments include those in: retail ,education, health care,
hospitality/entertainment, offices.

Dramatically reduces cabling costs. C-Series Switches eliminate the need for
expensive individual cable drops for network endpoints and the wiring complexities
of running cables to locations far from the wiring closet — for example, check-out
kiosks at the front of a big-box store.

The Cisco Catalyst C-Series switches are on display this week in the Cisco booth
(2529) at the National Retail Federation's 100th Annual Convention & Expo at the
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City this week.

Rob Soderbery, senior vice president and general manager, Ethernet Switching
Technology Group, Cisco, “The C-Series Switches exemplify the customer-driven
innovation that Cisco is known for. Today’s organizations are packing more
networked devices into more challenging environments; from hospitality to health
care, new business needs are driving new requirements for the access network. The
C-Series Switches are powerful compact managed switches that provide all the
Borderless Networks capabilities and benefits found in Cisco’s enterprise-class
Catalyst 2960 and 3560 Series Switches.”
