Name:______________________________Grade &Section:_____________________Date:_______
Topic: Plate Boundaries
Learning Competencies & Code: Explain the different processes that occur along the plate boundaries. S10ES
–Ia-j-36.3
Content:

Convergent boundaries: where two plates are Divergent boundaries: where two plates are
colliding moving apart.

Plates Surface features Plates Geologic events

Oceanic plates converge -Island arc Oceanic plates diverge - Mid-ocean ranges
with another oceanic -Oceanic trenches with another oceanic - New crust formed
plates plates called sea floor
Oceanic plates converge -Oceanic plates subduct spreading
with continental plates -Continental plates Oceanic plates diverge -
create mountain ranges with continental plates
Continental plates -Large mountain ranges Continental plates - Rift
converge with another diverge with another -Rift valleys
continental plates continental plates -Stream or river flow

Transform boundaries :where

plates slide passed each other.

Subduction zones occur when one or both of the tectonic plates are composed of
oceanic crust. The denser plate is subducted underneath the less dense plate. The
plate being forced under is eventually melted and destroyed.
