SUMMARY

During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the article explained an
evidence-based approach for improving infection control and operating room management.
Confirmed modes of viral transmission are mainly, but not exclusively, contact with contaminated
environmental surfaces and aerosolization. A combination of deep cleaning with surface
disinfectants and ultraviolet light (UV-C) involves evidence-based improvement strategies to
attenuate residual environmental contamination. They are eight (8) comprehensive
recommendations of scientific evidence characterizing the epidemiology of perioperative
transmission and infection development made possible by the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation
(APSF) support in which includes of the following; hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, patient
decolonization, vascular care and surveillance. It also includes the operating room management
strategies during the COVID-19 crisis.
REACTION

In this pandemic caused by COVID-19 disease, health care workers have become the frontlines of
this pandemic such as nurses and doctors who are dealing directly with patients with COVID-19 and
are at an increased risk of becoming infected because the essence of their job places them and other
health care workers at an increased risk of contracting any communicable disease, including COVID-
19. It is indeed necessary to establish hospital-specific guidelines to minimize the probability of
infection for COVID-19 patients, much as the article I searched for. By setting up the operation room,
they ought to improve the prevention of infections and the maintenance of the operations rooms,
which is why there is a recommendation for positioning equipment that is evidence-based that can
be utilized to reduce the risk of getting communicable diseases, particularly COVID-19.

In the setting of a viral pandemic, operative procedures are limited to essential interventions such as
urgent and emergent procedures.
