1. Objective
To lay down the procedure for installation, servicing and on-site support of equipment/
instruments.
2. Scope
This SOP shall be applicable for installation, servicing and on-site support of utility and process
equipment/ instruments.

4.1 Installation Procedure
- Ensure the ID number is assigned and affixed to the equipment after receipt.
- For the equipment, Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) shall be
performed and Performance Qualification(PQ) shall be performed wherever required. PQ
can be done individually or as a part of the process validation.
- The installation qualification shall be performed as per the approved protocol and the
protocol shall be prepared by engineering department.
- The operational qualification shall perform as per the approved protocol and the protocol
shall be prepared jointly by engineering and user department.
- Once it has been established that the operational qualification is satisfactory, Performance
Qualification shall be carried out jointly by user and QA.

- Preventive maintenance schedule for next month shall be issued to concerned department
in the last week of running month.
- Preventive maintenance checklists shall be prepared based on maintenance manuals and
manufacturer ’s recommendations for every equipment.
- Take necessary work permit from the concerned department wherever required
- Ensure the main switch of the machine is turned OFF, the fuses have been removed
wherever available and utilities are isolated whenever required.
- In case if the repeated breakdowns observed during operation, corrective actions should be
planned during preventive maintenance.
- After completing the preventive maintenance, if the machine status is satisfactory, handover
the machine to the respective department representative.
- If the machine is not put into use or not used in the complete month, the preventive
maintenance shall be carried out once in three months to keep the machine in healthy
condition.
