a) Alex, while driving to office, computes the average speed for his trip to be 20 km h−1. On his
return trip along the same route, there is less traffic and the average speed is 40 km h−1. What is
the average speed for Alex’s trip?
b) A car first covers 50 km at a uniform velocity of 45 km/h and then next 50 km at a uniform
velocity of 90 km/h. Calculate the average velocity of the car.
c) A bus retards uniformly at a rate of 3 m/s2 and then stops in 10 s. With what velocity was the
bus travelling?
d) A train starting from a railway station and moving with acceleration attains a speed 40 km/h in
10 minutes. Find its acceleration.
