Content Standards
The learner demonstrate understanding of common musical characteristics of
the region as well as unique characteristics of a popular Southeast Asian
Country.
Performance Standards
The learners performs Southeast Asian songs with appropriate pitch, rhythm,
expression and style.
Transfer Goals The learner will independently use their learning on Music of Southeast Asia,
so that in the long run, they will:

 The learner will be able to learn and identify the different music of
Southeast
Asia.
 Value and appreciate the music of others
 Apply appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression, and style to any song

Essential Question 1. What are the history, culture, tradition, and beliefs of the people of
Indonesia, Thailand. Cambodia, Myanmar?
2. What are the musical characteristics, vocal, and musical instruments of
Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar?
3. What are the elements present in vocal and instrumental music?
4. What are the musical elements found in the folk song Si Patokaan?
5. What are the sample social functions of the Music of Myanmar?
6. What is Pinpeat?
Essential Understanding HISTORY
Indonesia - the real spirit of the Indonesian culture is reflected in their music,
dance, drama, literature, and their cuisine. The religions found in Indonesia

consist of a variety to beliefs with the highest population claiming to be


Muslims.

Thailand- is surrounded by different countries and its position is the


intersection of China and India.But the two great civilizations, China, and
India, made a big impact and influence to its music.Characteristically, the
integrated elements were incorporated into the existing culture of the Thais
to suit their own taste.

Cambodia- Cambodian music was influenced by the different ancient forms


especially Hindu. They have choruses with large orchestra.

Myanmar- Influenced by the big and most influential countries around them
like China, India, and Thailand. Most of their musical characteristics and
elements are the same with the neighboring countries.
