Dear Executive Vice-President Timmermans,

Allow me to begin by expressing my hope that despite these difficult times we are facing in
Europe, you and your staff remain in good health. If this pandemic showed us anything, it is
that our engagement in environmental protection should be of the utmost importance and that
the Commission 's priorities such as the European Green Deal are essential.

Also for this reason, I am pleased that I can send you the Statement of the Czech Republic on
the process of economic recovery following the C0VID-19 pandemic in relation to the European
Green Deal.

We should jointly seek solutions that will enable us to meet high environmental ambitions while
supporting Europe's competitiveness, its economy, investments and jobs creation.

I am looking forward to seeing how the European Green Deal objectives will turn with our
shared effort into many new opportunities in the post-pandemic era.
