INDEX:
1.1 GENERAL
The objective of the Replacement of 11 kilometers of the Brega- Misurata 34” Gas Pipeline (Brega-
Sidra Section KM 5+100 to KM 16+595)
This document shall also act as a guide to construction personnel on how to carry out the works
safely and in accordance with environmental and contract requirements.
The scope of topographic survey work shall include the initial setting out of the pipeline route. This
shall be followed by Pre-construction survey, topographic survey report and setting out ROW limits
drawings. Information shall be passed to the Drawing Office to produce strip maps and special
crossing drawings. During construction top of pipe levels and co-ordinates shall be taken prior to
backfilling operations and the information processed to produce as-built drawings.
1.3 DEFINITIONS
The following definitions will be used in this document without the needs of any further explanation:
PROJECT Replacement of 11 kilometers of the Brega- Misurata 34” Gas Pipeline (Brega-
Sidra Section KM 5+100 to KM 16+595)
COMPANY SIRTE OIL COMPANY for Production, Manufacturing of Oil & Gas.

CONTRACTOR
Technical Services. forming awarding entity of this CONTRACT
JS CS 1001 0 Surveying
2.1 GENERAL
CONTRACTOR shall perform the topographical survey and mapping work required for the detail
design of the pipelines and associated facilities. As a minimum, CONTRACTOR shall carry out
the following activities:
for the permanent benchmarks and control points the accuracy of measurements shall not
exceed ± 2,5 cm in plan and ± 5 cm in elevation;
for the pipeline corridor the accuracy of measurements shall be ± 5cm in plan and ± 10cm
in elevation including any earth works and any other objects above ground.
all points strategically placed, permanently installed and accurately positioned relative to the
coordinate system adopted for the project.
CONTRACTOR shall submit for all benchmarks that will be used for setting out surveys a data
sheet detailing the following:
Benchmark design;
Individual benchmark reference number;
The surveyed coordinates and elevation;
Reference to the project coordinate system (par. 2.2);
Sketches of benchmark location in relation to local landmarks and monuments.
CONTRACTOR shall perform all work associated with the construction of benchmarks, including
but not limited to the following:
CONTRACTOR shall verify the plan and height coordinates for internal consistency prior to
their use on this project.
COMPANY will be responsible for obtaining the necessary authorization to establish
survey control points from the relevant authorities.
3.1 GENERAL
CONTRACTOR shall carry out surveys using Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite receiver
equipment. CONTRACTOR shall operate on RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) mode that consists
in a process where signal corrections are transmitted in real time from a reference receiver at a
known location to one or more remote receivers. The reference receiver shall be positioned on
permanent benchmarks or control points installed along pipeline routes as described in section 2.4
and section 2.5.
3.3 CROSSINGS
CONTRACTOR shall perform a detailed topographical survey at all main crossing to enable
additional surface/subsurface features to be mapped and included in detailed engineering design.
The survey shall be carried out on a grid not exceeding 5m spacing or as appropriate
for the local site conditions and at any specific points (changes in slope,etc) to enable contours
to be drawn at 0.25 m intervals in elevation.The following minimum data/information shall be
recorded for all crossings of the proposed pipelines:
Oueds/Watercourse
Survey points sufficient to define crossing topography for a minimum distance of 100 m on
either side of the pipeline centerline and 100m on either side of the oueds/watercourse banks;
Top of bank, toe of bank, width (high bank to high bank), depth (high bank to bottom),
centreline of oueds/watercourse, top of water elevation (where present) and related date of
survey, water depth profile along the oueds/stream surveyed at a maximum interval of 25 m
or adequately less in line with oued’s size and features (and related date of survey) where
present, water flow direction.
Ground profile of the crossing along the centerline of the proposed pipeline
Composition of the bed (e.g. rock, sand, gravel, concrete lined, etc.).
survey points sufficient to define crossing topography of an area with a minimum distance
on either side of the crossed service and on either side of the proposed pipeline centerline;
survey points at all centerline intersections between proposed pipeline and existing utilities;
As a part of the survey documentation, each crossing shall be accompanied with at least two
photos made from specific view points, reflecting the terrain status and general features before
construction works.
locate by survey points and tie the utility at intervals at all proposed pipeline centerline
Intersection Points (IP’s);
locate by survey points all above ground facilities associated with the buried parallel utility;
Type of utility, size, owner, use and depth.
The following information shall be recorded when the proposed pipeline run in parallel with an
overhead utility within a corridor width on either side of the centerline of the pipeline:
locate by survey points all poles or structures, record the pole or structure number;
Number and type of utility, size, owner, number and height of wires/cables.
CONTRACTOR shall survey all existing features within the interested plant area. CONTRACTOR
shall map the following features during the facility site survey:
5.1 GENERAL
CONTRACTOR shall provide CONTRACTOR with the following information and services:
Field data (field notes, conventional survey field book, electronic data collector);
Drawings (route maps, crossings, plant areas);
Excel files with pipeline axis data;
Final topographic report.
All text, dimensions, test data, results and all other information relating to the work will be
expressed in the English language and referenced to the Metric system.
All electronic field data collected during the survey shall contain sufficient information to
accurately define the characteristics of the corresponding feature.
Electronic field data collected during the survey shall at a minimum be backed up at the
midpoint and end of the workday to avoid losing an entire day's work. Whenever possible, all
electronic measurements and recordings will be marked with a time tag as well as a tag showing
whether the data were input automatically or from the keyboard.
The survey crew chief shall ensure that survey crew data collectors are downloaded and data files
delivered to Survey Technician on a daily basis. The Survey Technician will review, process
and QA/QC data files.
5.3 DRAWINGS
CONTRACTOR shall produce drawings in AutoCAD format (.dwg) and pdf format in accordance
to the following requirements:
in electronic format compatible with the electronic files for the drawings
Route maps
On the basis of the section 3.2, CONTRACTOR shall produce a plano-altimetric map of the
pipeline corridors including, as a minimum:
Easting and Northing coordinates, coordinate grid and coordinate system reference, spheroid
and datum parameters;
all survey points recorded;
existing natural features;
existing man made features, houses, vegetation, concrete pavement, electric lines, poles,
pipelines, roads etc.;
benchmarks already installed;
new benchmarks installed during survey;
route line profile illustrating a true representation of the pipeline route gradient;
The coordinates of the new benchmarks shall be shown next to the symbol. The referenced
elevations will be rounded off and shown to the nearest 0.05 m.
A proper scale, not lower than 1:2000, shall be selected to ensure a good readability of the
documents.
Crossings
On the basis of section 3.3, CONTRACTOR shall produce crossings drawings including, as as
Minimum:
A proper scale, depending on the extension of the surveyed area, shall be selected to ensure a
good readability of the documents and will be indicated in the drawing.
