GARY GYGAX Q&A PART XII

[Baalzy/Baael is noted as the new state-sponsored religion in Aerdi. Did you have any
notes/ideas on Baael that you can share? In your opinion, would the Censor of Medegia still
be considered the chief cleric of the Great Kingdom, and would Baael be the Holy Censor's
patron?]

The "state-sponsored" religion would be very unpopular and would only be given lip service
by many. Whether the censor is of that variety depends on his political direction in the game
as per each DM. If he is more autonomous, then he might only give public display on
occasion, but remember, this is a medieval fantasy world and many gods are worshipped, not
just one. [RJK] http://piedpiperpublishing.yuku.com/topic/2054

[I was curious how detailed the history was for the Greyhawk campaign]

There wasn't really anything detailed until Gary wrote the folio, sorry. [RJK]

[How was the original "Greater Caverns" level used in El Raja Key? Did the encounters on the
level bear any resemblance to the ones that were employed in Tsojconth and Tsojcanth?]

Nope. [RJK] http://piedpiperpublishing.yuku.com/topic/2064

[Ah, so Gary just used your map [El Raja Key’s Greater Caverns for S4], eh?]

Yep, he just used the thing, as he liked the central red carpet area. [RJK]

[Where can I find information on the so called "Gem Man"?]

He occurs earlier on in the levels, around the 2nd-3rd's of the 8 that exist in Greyhawk as
originally designed (GH has multiple sets of 1-8th levels, originally NE, NW, SE, SW.) [RJK]

[On Stoink]

I was going to mention that that could be created from memory, as I did have the Stk. ms. for
editing/development in 1985. The ideas in there were pretty cool, with EGG adding in specific
info on gangs. That in turn inspired me to write in gangs into "Falcondun", the collaboration
City project 'twixt EGG and I which I wrote 150 pages on for NIPI just before it folded. This
will, no doubt, be expanded for the City-of-GH (whatever we name it) project, with great
additions. Doug Behringer, who telephoned last night, also said that he will redo the map of
Stoink he has for it and then post it somewhere.

This was indeed an area/regional/dungeon setting, with intended parts for all. The regional &
City were very well fleshed out with maps and the dungeon parts (sewers and thieves stuff
beneath the City) were being organized. What with Gary's "Canting Crew" in front of this and
my proclivity for such settings (almost tired of settings what with City of Brass almost
completed and Barbarous Coast having 18,000 words written), all we need to do is find the
time for that one. Of course if I wasn't working a day job... Thus the CD project/sales from my
end to secure the much needed time for major print projects. [RJK]
