Social Mobility (social strata): Summary of a Life Story

Since I was a child, we consider our family as our strength for conquering
life struggles. I came from I think, a middle class family because we are not either
rich nor poor. My father's salary as a welder sustain our daily needs for a living as
my mother stays at home doing her role as a wife and as a mother to us. As me and
my siblings grow up, our need for money is also getting bigger. So my parents
decided to establish a fruit stand in the year 20 which was been managed by my
mother as my father continue in doing his welding jobs. This fruit stand somewhat
up rise our social strata as it gives more income to our family. My two older
siblings had got their college diplomas as time passes by, I’ve been also enrolled in
a private school for my college degree course. Not only our necessity but also our
desires for materials had been provided to us until my parents had undergone an
accident which results my mother’s foot to be critically injured that made her
incapable of doing allot of things, this sudden event comes with a great impact to
our family as it cause money loss to us. My father had to stop working for a while
to personally take care of mother. Our fruit stand had been closed because my
mom can't manage it at that time. Our savings was affected as it was used for my
mother’s medical care. That's the period of time when we started to feel the
changes in our life style.
I would rather chose wealth over power and prestige because I believe that
when you have wealth you could get power and prestige as well. And because
wealth (money) is what others usually don't have and nowadays it is consider to be
the primal need of every individual in order to survive and to success depending if
it was used wisely. My personal quote is “Perseverance”
