Before PWHT
1. Availability of HTPS for that specific joint.
2. Verify relation between HTPS and WPS of welded
joint.
3. Co-relate HTPS with job for – Weld ID, Drawing No,
Thickness and Material Grade.
4. Ensure correct PWHT method is used as per HTPS.
5. Verify Number of machines required.
6. Verify calibration of chart recorder, PID, TC.
7. Ensure Thermocouple Type / No. / Location as per
sketch / Spare TC.
8. Inspect compensating cables, T.A.U for damages.
9. Ensure range of heated zone / Area of insulation are
set up as per HTPS.
10. Ensure H.T operator has set correct PWHT cycle.
11. Ensure all NDT has cleared (BSR)

12. Ensure no interruptions after the PWHT cycle starts.
13. Any discrepancies during PWHT cycle has been
reported to Welding Engineer.

14. Inspect for distortion, dimensional integrity of the
component after the PWHT cycle.
15. Calculate Heating rate, soaking temperature, Soaking
time, Cooling rate from the chat.
16. Review PWHT report with HTPS.
17. Ensure QC, Client, Class, H.T Operator has signed
the chart before starting the PWHT process.
18. After review by QC submit for Client and Class
approval.
