3.3 Cooling System

3.3.1 Overview
Air-cooled in-row precision air conditioners are used in the cooling system. The air
conditioners and cabinets form contained cold (hot) aisles to isolate hot air from cold air. Air
flows in from the front and out from the rear. Air conditioners cool hot air from servers and
generate cold air for servers.
 Air conditioners are deployed close to heat sources and provides horizontal airflow. This
mechanism shortens the air supply distance, reduces airflow pressure loss, and
minimizes cold air leakage during air supply, thereby improving the cooling efficiency.
 Teamwork control ensures that air conditioners work in reasonable mode to improve
efficiency.
 Precision air conditioners with constant temperature and humidity and those with cooling
only can collaborate to dynamically control the temperature and humidity inside the
container.

Outdoor unit installation environments are classified as follows based on the harshness:
 Class A (controlled environment): indoor environments where the ambient temperature and humidity
are controlled, including rooms where people live
 Class B (uncontrollable environment): indoor environments where the ambient temperature and
humidity are not controlled or general outdoor environments with simple shielding measures where
the humidity sometimes reaches 100%
 Class C (harsh environment): marine environments within 3.7 km from the coast or outdoor land
environments with simple shielding measures within 1.2 km from a pollution source
 Class D (marine environment): environments within 500 m from the coast

The NetCol500-A026 cannot be used in class D environments.

3.3.3 Low-Temperature Component

Working Principle
When the outdoor temperature is below the operating temperature lower limit specified for the
product, the condensing pressure of the system for the outdoor unit condenser with natural
cooling may still below the safe operating pressure of the compressor. A low-temperature
component is required to address this issue.
The low-temperature component intelligently controls the condensing pressure to ensure that
the equipment can work safely and reliably at an outdoor ambient temperature as low as
–40ºC. When detecting that the outdoor condensing pressure is low, the pressure stabilizing
valve automatically opens to bypass hot gas to the liquid storage tank, thereby ensuring that
the condensing pressure stays in the range for safe and reliable operation. When detecting that
the condensing pressure exceeds the threshold, the pressure stabilizing valve automatically
closes the bypass.

3.5 Fire Extinguishing System

3.5.1 Overview
A CE or standard fire extinguishing system can be used. The CE system complies with the
EU's CE certification, and the standard system complies with China's CCC certification.
If the container catches fire, smoke and heat will trigger the smoke detectors and heat
detectors, which will send fire alarm signals to the extinguishant control panel. Upon
receiving the fire alarm signals, the extinguishant control panel counts down and then opens
the solenoid valve on the fire extinguisher so that the fire cylinder discharges extinguishant to
the protection zone. At the same time, the extinguishant control panel automatically reports
alarms.

3.5.2.2 Heptafluoropropane Fire Extinguisher

When the FusionModule1000 catches fire, a lot of smoke is generated and the temperature
rises sharply. The smoke detector and heat detector send fire alarm signals to the
extinguishant control panel, which generates an electrical actuator start voltage to start the
electrical actuator of the fire cylinder. Then the fire cylinder valve is opened, and
extinguishant is released into the protected zone.
Heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ea) is a colorless, odorless, non-conductive, and secondary
pollution-free gas extinguishant. It features cleanness, low toxicity, good electrical insulation,
high fire extinguishing efficiency, zero threat to the ozonosphere (ODP = 0), and short
residual time (ATL = 34Y).

Heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ea) for recent years. Copper fluoride (NOVEC1230) has been
widely proved to be eco-friendly and safe. It can be used to extinguish fire caused by
flammable liquid, gas, and electrical equipment. Physical and chemical actions are combined
during extinguishing. Generally copper fluoride (NOVEC1230) is a colorless and odorless
liquid. It does not contain bromine or chlorine, does no harm to the ozonosphere (ODP = 0),
and resides for a short time in the atmosphere (ATL = 0.014Y).

Product Overview 3 System Architecture

Figure 3-42 VESDA

(1) VESDA detection unit (2) Sampling pipes (3) Air sampling pipe plugs

Working Principle
The detection unit includes the suction pump, filter, high-sensitive smoke detector, and
precision electrical analyzer. The air detector of the VESDA can detect fire in the initial phase
and generates alarms at an early time.
The detection unit of the VESDA sucks air samples from the monitored environment through
the air sampling tube to the smoke detector and works out the dust density in the air. If the
dust density exceeds the preset alarm threshold, the VESDA blinks and sends an alarm signal
to the monitoring module.

Features
 High sensitivity
The VESDA features extremely high sensitivity and wide sensitivity adjustment range
(0.005%–20% obs/m). It can detect both potential fire in the early phase and particles
released by the softened insulation layer of an overloaded power cable.
 Precise detection result
The VESDA works in active air sampling mode. The efficient aspirator continuously
sends air samples from the protected area to the detection chamber for analysis. The
detection result and response time are less influenced by air flow compared with a
traditional fire detection method.
 Flexible installation
The VESDA detection unit is compact and easy to install. The air sampling pipes can be
deployed depending on site requirements. The air sampling pipes are made of PVC and
can be installed on or under the ceiling, under the floor, at air return vents of air
conditioners, and in locations that need special protection. For example, the sampling
capillaries can be installed in a cabinet to monitor equipment in the cabinet.
 Easy maintenance
The VESDA is equipped with a special filter that filters air for cleaning the laser
measuring chamber, ensuring that the laser detector has a long lifespan. The filter can be
easily maintained and replaced, and cleaned by blowing air into the air sampling pipes.
Therefore, you do not have to replace any other components.
 Efficient auto-diagnosis system

FusionModule1000A40 CT Solution
Product Overview 3 System Architecture

The VESDA is designed with an efficient auto-diagnosis system for monitoring the
working status of itself, the network, and the air sampling pipes in real time. If a fault is
detected, the system generates an alarm and indicates the fault location for
troubleshooting.
