Founder’s Desk
In the Book of Acts 5:33-39, the Jews wanted to put Jesus’ disciples to death. But Gamaliel, a teacher of Law addressed the members of
Sanhedrin that a certain man named Theudas appeared with 400 followers. He was killed and the group dispersed. Another man Judas
appeared with followers and he too was killed and his movement came to nothing.
Leave these 12 disciples alone and if their moment is of human it will fail but if it is from God nobody can stop these men and you cannot
fight against God. We have a clear message here.

Stretch your Hands to help her: Hopefulness out of desperation.

Miss Malleable Asha is the daughter of Mr Srinu and Mrs Ramulamma and is born at Ranasthalam in
Srikakulam district. They were from a very poor family and lost her father at the age of 5. There was no
way Malleable Asha and her mother could fend for themselves after the father's death and so they
started staying at a temple campus for 10 yrs taking shelter there and surviving on what people would
give them out of pity. They would eat what others would give them and spent their life living that way.
When she was 8 yrs old, the mother of Asha joined her at a government hostel at Garividi to pursue her
education which is free. She continued her education till 9th standard and in the mean time someone
from her relatives brainwashed to stop studying and start working so that she can support her mother
and herself due to financial problems so they could be on their own feet as they didn’t have a house of
their own. Asha dropped out of school at the age of 13 and joined as a house maid at the reference of
her relatives to take care of a little child in Hyderabad. She was treated well there and did not lack
anything. One day after a year, she has an injury to her right foot and her big toe would not heal even
after a few months. Her employer showed her too many doctors and she used many medicines but there

was no sign of recovery. The doctors could not detect what was wrong. Asha was taken to the
government hospital one day and she was diagnosed to have leprosy. Her employer treated her well and
isolated her in the outer house till they made arrangements for her to go home. When she returned to
her native place, she had a ghastly experience with her mother who would not accept her back because
she had leprosy and blamed her to be a vagabond. After she was thrown out of her home she went in
tears to her grandmother's home walking about 25 km. She stayed there for a few weeks and later her
grandmother came to know that she had leprosy. Her relatives and grandmother spat on her and chased
her out saying that she would infect them too and that she was destined to die. In grief and sadness she
didn’t know what to do and wondered if her life was worth living, but God led her to go to the police
station in Garividi where she met SI Srinivas. SI Srinivas is a social activist and he listened to her story
patiently and brought her to Philadelphia Community Hospital for treatment. Our doctors admitted her
immediately and started her treatment and dressed her wound. She has been under the hospital's care
until date and they have joined her in the vocational training centre at Vizianagaram and trained her in
stitching and later she has started her education to complete her tenth standard. She also learnt about
Jesus and believed that he saved her from her desperation and brought her new life. She is a cheerful
person and keeps the female leprosy ward alive with her lovely singing and soulful messages. She helps
the elderly leprosy patient in their chores and helps in serving food to them. During the Covid-19
recently she took time to stitch mask for free distribution and supported the TLM staff in their stitching
campaign with her talent. This helped her realize that she can grown bigger in life and can achieve her
dreams if she puts her heart into it. She is twenty years old and she now says that when she becomes
self-sufficient, she would help down trodden leprosy and disabled children like her to live life to the
fullest. Asha means “ambition and longing” and she hopes to emerge out of her desperation and longs
to reach her aim of being one who can help herself to help in need. She would like to show those who
spat on her once upon a time, that life can take a different direction and use that same helpless person
who was in desperate need, to a person whom you can look up to help those in need and uplift them by
the grace of God. Miss Asha is looking forward for someone to come forward to help her to purchase a

shop and a motorized tailoring machine wherein she can teach more women like her to sustain without
depending upon others.

Word of the Month

The Book of Exodus gives us a taste of God’s nature and tells us who God is, how He should be worshipped. He loves us and
always has a plan to deliver us from bondage. The Israelites have been locked up in Egypt for over 400 years with hard labour and
loss of freedom. They prayed relentlessly to God for a deliverer. And God provided Moses who delivered them out of Egypt. He
will do the same with the present day LOCKDOWN situation with Corona virus; we have a very similar situation of what
happened in Egypt with the Israelites. With complete Lockdown, loss of freedom of movement with fear of disease and even death.
What is even worst, we have neither preventive nor curative medications.
But God who is merciful and has a plan for us to deliver us from this deadly peril with faith and prayers. (2 Corinth 1:10).
As Paul, the Apostle says in (Romans 8:31) If God is for us, who can be against us.
Message: God says ‘’be Still and know that I am God’’. (Psalm 46:10) He has a plan to deliver us and trust Him. Amen
