2020 NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION VIRTUAL KICK OFF AND DIVISION ONLINE
NUTRITION COORDINATION MEETING

1. Pursuant to the Regional Memorandum No. 20-331 or the 2020 Nutrition Month, this
office through the School Governance and Operations Division-School Health Section
announces the 2020 Nutrition Month Celebration Virtual Kick Off and Division Online
Nutrition Coordination Meeting.

2. This year’s theme is “Batang Pinoy, Sana Tall, Iwas Stunting, Sama All! Iwas All din
sa COVID-19!” The primary aim of this memorandum is to promote awareness and
mobilize actions to address stunting and calls for a collective vision of having taller
Filipino Children.

3. The sub message “Iwas All din sa Covid-19” is added given the pandemic and the
community quarantine is still in effect, it becomes more imperative to ensure nutrition
among Filipinos to improve their resilience against their disease and minimize the long-
term effects of malnutrition. By raising awareness on stunting, it aims to understand
that stunting is not just a problem of being short but also results in poor mental
development resulting in poor school performance and low as adults.

4. Official theme and poster of the 2020 Nutrition Month shall be posted at the official
SDO Cabuyao DepEd Tayo page and other official registered group chats of DepEd
Cabuyao. Downloadable materials such as nutrition month logo and posters are
available at bit.ly/NUTRIMONTH2020.

5. The Curriculum and Implementation Division shall also ensure that nutrition education
are incorporated on the curriculum for learners.

6. All schools, through the leadership of the school heads and nutrition coordinators are
encouraged to promote the nutrition month theme and celebration thru accessible
online platforms by making officials posts, short video clips or infomercial on nutrition
education. A short narrative report with means of verifications on conducted activities
shall be sent to gilbert.bagsic@deped.gov.ph until July 31, 2020.

7. On the other hand, a Division Online Nutrition coordination meeting cum virtual kick off
shall be held on July 15, 2020, 9:00AM-11:00AM. See attached enclosure no. 1 for the
list of participants. This meeting shall be facilitated by the school health section.
Agenda of the meeting includes the following:
• Nutritional Status Accomplishment 2019-2020
• Strategies for Nutrition for the present S.Y.
• School Based Feeding Program and Milk Feeding Program for S.Y 2020-2021
• Nutrition of Children during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
• Dental Discussion: Oral Health in Relation to Nutrition
• Other Matters

8. Target participants shall register at this link http://deped.in/nutrition2020 until July

10, 2020. Google meet link for the meeting shall be coordinated by the health section
to its participants via official messenger groups. A certificate of participation shall be
given to participants and appreciation for resource speakers.

9. Immediate dissemination of this memorandum is desired.
