Sub: Collective Appeal Regarding The Release of The Final Merit List of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D 2018
Shri D B Singh,
Joint Secretary,
Staff Selection Commission HQ,
New Delhi - 110003
Dear Sir,
Sub: Collective appeal regarding the release of the final merit list of SSC Stenographer
Grade C & D 2018.
We, the qualified candidates of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D 2018 Skill Test which was
conducted in the months of November and December 2019 and the result of which has been declared
on the 18th of March 2020, hereby submit our collective appeal in the form of this letter to the Hon.
Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission for the resumption of the process of releasing our final
merit list. This has been long due as the whole process was already running much behind the schedule
and then went off the rails because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As candidates, we do have the grasp of the unprecedented nature of this calamity and hence we
have waited patiently over the past five months for normalcy to return. Now that the Government of
India has initiated the phased process of ‘Unlock’, we have retaken note of the situation and of the fact
that the Commission has resumed its work. But even after a month into it, Stenographer 2018 qualified
candidates still remain in the dark regarding the fresh dates of their final result. The revised schedule at
the Commission’s website finds no mention of the same and many a grievance posted through official
communication channels have received only templated replies.
The Commission is due to conduct the document verification of about 1200-1500 candidates
across respective regions at various venues out of the 2800 who qualified the skill test (rounded up
figures in accordance with the write-up) – the rest of them having been through the process already at
CR, ER and NER. As the Railways and other modes of transportation are set to resume operations fully,
ostensibly so, from the month of August, we, the undersigned, pledge our willingness and cooperation
to the safe conduct of the long stalled process of our document verification so as to fast track the
release of our final result. Document Verification is usually conducted in shifts, which creates enough
scope for the possibility of taking necessary precautions in the light of the contagion. Furthermore, it is
well under the capacity and precedence of SSC to consider alternative modes of document verification
such as e-dossier collection as is currently the practice among various state recruitment boards (DSSB ,
for example). There are other tried and tested alternatives that the commission can and should put into
use in times as extraordinary as this, for since the release of the Stenographer 2018 Grade C and D
notification(F.No.3/3/2018-(P&P-II)) in October 2018, it has been 640 number of days and the bulk of it
has passed before the onset of Covid-19. It is a harrowing experience for many like us who have devoted
the time - numbering in years - and hard work as well as pinned their life’s hope on cracking and getting
employed through this exam. Therefore, we request you to kindly look into the matter and oblige us by
releasing new dates for our document verification and the final result in due subsequence. We shall be
forever grateful to you for your kindness.
Thanking You
We, the undersigned hereby attest our names and roll numbers below. We also confirm and
acknowledge the content of this letter and stand by the veracity of our candidature as detailed below.
Any individual instance of misrepresentation is purely unintentional shall not impede the nature of
our collective appeal.
