Geometry Here and There, Geometry Everywhere!


P2: GeoGebra
Getting Started
1. Click on Chrome.
2. Find the search bar and the click on it. In the search bar
type in www.geogebra.org and hit enter. You should now
be on GeoGebra.
3. Log in by clicking on the Sign In
button in the top right corner. Log in
with your Google account.
4. After you have logged in, search for the top right corner.
Click on the app box (a square made up of 9 squares next
to the bell icon. Circled in the picture to the right) and select
Geometry. A new tab should open.
5. Below your profile picture in the top right corner, click on
the gear icon. You will need to do two things:
o Make sure the Snap to Grid is on. You should see a
checkmark. If not, click on it to turn it on.
o Under Show Grid, make sure Major and Minor
Gridline is on. You
should see a checkmark. If not, click on it to
turn it on.
6. After you have done the above, click the menu (3
lines) in the top left corner. Save your project as
“YourNameGeometry1/2”.
o Examples:
 JoeBGeometry1/2
 SusieDGeometry1/2

Build Me A Name Out of lines (75%)


 Here I leave you to be creative in creating your name. Before I let you go, there
are rules to follow.
o Rules
 All lines should be straight. This mean I should not see any curves.
See the examples below:

 The following tools are needed in order to accurately complete the
assignment. THESE ARE THE ONLY TOOLS YOU MAY USE.


 When you draw, keep in mind you will need to be able to identify the following
(EACH TERM IS WORTH 6.25 POINTS):
o Point
o Line
o Line Segment
o Ray
o Angles
o Vertex
o Right Angle
o Acute angle
o Obtuse angle
o Plane
o Perpendicular
o Parallel
 You will prove to me that you can identify these terms in your drawing when you
create a text box with the following drawn object like shown. You only need to
do one example for each term.
o Example:

 When you have finished, save the project.


 Close the tab.
Build Me Shapes Out of Your Name (25%).
 Go to your profile.
 Find your project entitled “YourNameGeometry1/2”.
o Click on the edit button (3 vertical dots).
 Click on Copy Activity.
o Change the name from Copy of… to “YourNameGeometry2/2”.
o In the top right corner hit save.
o Hit the back button.
o Go search for the top right corner. Click on the app box (a square made
up of 9 squares next to the bell icon. Circled in the picture to the right) and
select Geometry. A new tab should open.
o Open “YourNameGeometry2/2”.
o Remove all current text with terms and angles. This means it should look
like this:

 Here I leave you to be creative in creating your name. Before I let you go, there
are rules to follow.
o Rules
 Your name should still be visible in the art you create. This means I
should still be able to see the original lines. If you don’t remember
how to turn on and off lines or how to change them, ask 2
neighbors around you and the come to me to ask.
 Must have at least 3 colors shown (5 points). No white. Each color
should correspond to the shape name. For example: Yellow should
be for all triangles. Blue for all squares….
 Must have at least 4 shape names. Each shape name (e.g.
triangle) is worth 5 points.
 Example of completion:

 When you draw, keep in mind you will need to be able to identify the 2-D shapes
in your group discussions if they are/have any
o Parallel
o Perpendicular
o Obtuse angles
o Acute angles
o Right angles
 When you have finished, save the project.
 Close the tab.
Finishing Up
 When you’re done, open a new tab
o Go to Google Classroom.
o Find the assignment “Geometry Here and There, Geometry Everywhere!
P2: GeoGebra”
o Click on the assignment and then hit add.
 Hit Link.
 Go back to your GeoGebra tab.
 Go to your profile and find “YourNameGeometry1/2”
o Click on the edit button (3 vertical dots)
 Click on Share
 Copy the Link
 Go Back to the Google Classroom tab and paste your link
 Do the same steps with “YourNameGeometry2/2”.
o Make sure both links are correct and are there. If it is, high five your
neighbor.
 Turn it in.
