WHAT IS TRAINERS METHODOLOGY 1?

TRAINERS METHODOLOGY LEVEL 1 consists of competencies a TVET Trainer and Assessor must
achieve. A TVET trainer is a person who enables a learner or a group of learners to develop competencies to
perform a particular trade or technical work. A TVET Trainer and Assessor must possess a National TVET
Trainers Certificate (NTTC) in order to perform the functions of a TESDA Certified trainer/ assessor. An
NTTC can only be given once a particular person has already passed the Trainers Methodology assessment
which will entitle him a Certificate of Competency in Delivering Training Session (COC1), Certificate of
Competency in Conducting Competency Assessment (COC2), and a Trainers Methodology Certificate (TMC).
A person who has achieved this Qualification is competent to be:

1.  TVET Trainer /Technical Trainer


2.  Training Facilitator /Coordinator
3.  Competency Assessor
Furthermore, with the implementation of the K-12 Program, teachers who wish to apply for a teaching slot in
senior high school shall be asked to submit additional requirements based on the Guidelines that will be made
available soon.
For full-time and part-time TVL teacher-applicants, the following are the additional requirements:

1. Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) National Certificate (NC) of at least
one level higher than course to be taught in subject to be taught (e.g. at least NC-III in SMAW to teach
SMAW-NC-II)
2. Certified photocopy of Trainers Methodology Certificate (TMC)

TRAINERS METHODOLOGY 1 TRAINER /ASSESSOR


Nominal Duration: 264 Hours

✓  Develop & promote appreciation for costs & benefits of technical training

CORE COMPETENCIES:
✓  Planning training session
✓  Facilitating learning session
✓  Utilizing electronic media in facilitating training
✓  Supervising work-based learning
✓  Conducting competency assessment
✓  Maintaining training facilities

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, positive attitude and work values of the learner in
accordance with the prevailing standards in the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
This encompasses competencies required of a Technical Vocational Trainer to perform the tasks in the areas of
instructional delivery /facilitation, competency assessment, and maintenance of training resources /facilities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate/trainee must reach/poses any of the following qualification:

✓  Graduate of courses relevant to Technical-Vocational Education and Training


✓  Ability to communicate
✓  Physically fit and mentally healthy
✓  Can perform basic mathematical computation and mensuration.

✓  Blended delivery methods
ASSESSMENT METHODS:
✓  Written test
✓  Interview (oral/questionnaire)
✓  Demonstration/ observation
✓  Portfolio (credentials)

TRAINER’S QUALIFICATIONS:
✓  Must be a TQ II certificate holder
✓  Good moral character
✓  Must be a holder of professional license issued by PRC or equivalent
✓  Must be computer literate
✓  Must be physically and mentally fit
✓  Must have 1 year industry experience and/or teaching experience
