Make an analysis of the external environment of SBM.

Economic Forces
Opportunities:
 More students were enrolled due to the demand of the course and the newly improved
curriculum that Xavier University provides.
 More enrollees coming from different schools because the quality of education offered
to them is not sufficient whereas in Xavier University they offer a standard quality
education.
 School supplies such as books are not that convenient in other schools while in Xavier
University, they provide more books so that students could use it.
Threats:
 Cost of school supplies, school uniforms such as business attire, P.E. uniform is high in
Xavier University because it’s too expensive while in other schools it is affordable
 Cost of tuition fees is also high because of the economic crisis that occurred such as the
increase of prices in the market

Social, Cultural, Demographic and Environmental Forces


Opportunities:
 Every year the enrollees of SBM is growing because the curriculum offered to other
schools is not suitable for their needs
 From time to time, new programs were created for the development of the SBM
organization and also for the Xavier University community. For this reason, they can be
viable and attractive.
Threats:
 Students vary in terms of religious practices. Non-Catholics such as Buddhist were
obliged to take religious studies for them to complete the course.
 Foreign students varied in terms of cultural differences.

Political, Legal and Governmental Forces


Opportunities:
 SBM staff can delegate each tasks and responsibilities. They can conduct reasonable and
applicable activities because it is highly recommended by the management.
 SBM staff is knowledgeable in performing general office duties.
 SBM staff strictly implements the QPI standing to generate students and encourage
them to achieve excellence in their fields.
Threat:
 Policies of the SBM are not properly implemented that results to misunderstanding and
disorder among the management.

Opportunities:
 SBM provides new and improved software for the smooth process of enrolment. With
this advanced technological system, students can easily register with the subjects they
want to enroll.
 SBM provides a network for the students to guide them for the materials that the
instructors want to present. Other schools were just relying on one material such as
hand-outs.
Threat:
 At times there is delayed in submission of requirements such as grades because at times
the system is not functioning well.
Competitive Forces
Opportunities:
 SBM has the highest population in Xavier University compared to the other colleges and
in other schools. For this reason, they generated more profit than what they expected.
 SBM has better funds compared to other colleges and in other schools. For this reason,
they can estimate their cost and expense for the planned activities.
Threat:
 In other schools, the students were motivated to participate in every activity while in
Xavier University some SBM students are not actively participating when it comes to
club organizations.

As to our knowledge with SBM operations, its strengths are gained in its simple,
systematic and organized business structure. They assigned proper authorities to proper
positions. Moreover, SBM facilities is more convenient and efficient, to garnered more strength
to attract more people. On the other hand, SBM’s weaknesses can be found in its way of
processing the enrolment. During the adding/dropping of subjects it would take time because
of the slow process.
Given this analysis we come to realize that each organization has its own internal
problems to handle. The process in which we enable to identify and analyze such problems is by
using proper management method of analysis like SWOT and PEST. The importance of these
methods is squared to the importance of the business itself.
