Introduction

Living in an industrialized country, we cannot change the fact that many

people wants a more convenient commodities in order to reduce time allotted in

doing manual tasks. As we cultivate to new approaches, people love to try out

new concepts and bizarre ways to rationalize things. Cooking is daily activity of

preparing food to satisfy hunger but due to workloads, we are claiming to find an

easiest, convenient, and eccentric ways of having an alternative food intake that

would satisfy our cravings for home-cooked meals. Students and employees are

usually fond of bringing packed lunch in their workplace. For instance, food

spoiling and spilling is detrimental in such cases. In consideration, bringing

packed meals became an alternative rather than purchasing food from the

outside. It is also an advantage for saving money, and time allotted in buying

food. It allows them to have more control over the types of food they want to

bring.

In relation to this, Quickee provides a revolutionized product that will

outgrow circumstances that are inconvenient. With the product Quick-Picks, an

easy to bring, quickly to eat and mess-free meal, it will help people to eat their

meals conveniently. It is a finger food made out of seasoned rice filled with meat

inside that is shaped like a ball. With this, Quick-Picks’ main goal is to provide

consumers satisfaction with easy but fulfilling food. The product's long term

objective is to lessen the instances of spilling, spoiling, and wasting of food.

The company knows the struggle of preparing food when it comes to

people who are in a hurry. There are a lot of circumstances when students

become late for school and employees late for work that undergoes inability of

eating proper meals and instead, an intake of unhealthy foods such as fast food

and the like as a replacement. Forget about all those things. There is an easy

way to eat proper meals when you want to eat home-cooked meals with the

product “Quick-Picks.” The company called, Quickee, came up with the perfect

way to provide time efficient meals.

As a company mainly focused on food production, Quickee aims to ease

the work of preparing meals and save time allotment. They visualize on ensuring

the quality of the food, guaranteed healthy and tasty that fits perfectly for the

budget of everybody. It provides an extraordinary concept of food indulgent, the

convenience of having finger bites on the go and the portability of carrying it.

Thus, it also aims to prevent harm for consumers to buy anywhere convenient to

them without the safety insurances. In addition to this, it will lessen the use of

utensils, by diminishing the use of plastic consumption that raises environmental

and health security. In conclusion, the goal of the company is to provide quality

guaranteed food, lessen circumstances of food spilling, and to reduce the use of

plastics by removing it from the equation.

Background of the study

The five proponents of the company called, Quickee, came from San

Beda College Alabang under ABM Strand of Senior High School Department in

the year 2018-2019 during their Research 114 class, handled by Ms. Josielyn

Mendoza. As a group, they were always known for revolutionizing products that

would lessen the inconvenience of customers and provide quality foods. It was

named Quickee from the root word “Quick” since their main focus is to provide

efficient food products in a revolutionized concept that turns traditionally-made

cuisines into unique, scrumptious, and hassle-free food that will leave satisfaction

to the customers as per the name of the company. They started producing

various products that are commercially successful due to its product quality and

convenience to the consumers.

The company’s key objectives, essential to its business in delivering the

best food alternative are as follows: To provide quality product to its customers,

meet or exceed the expectations of our customers, have continuous information

on the movement of new innovative products in the areas where the company

operates, focus on customer needs and meet the customer needs at the lowest

cost and build a lasting business relationship with the customer.

MARKETING PLAN
Market Overview:

Filipinos are fond of consuming prepared foods to go particularly in fast

food chains, convenience stores, and food stands. It has shown a steady growth

and food innovations started to emerge. Even though they prefer to eat promptly,

Filipinos are rice eaters and are likely to eat soup dishes. Adobo, Sinigang,

Tinola, and Caldereta, are some examples of Filipino cuisine that are loved and

consumed by many citizens. As much as they like to eat homemade meals,

issues like lack of time and hassle in preparation has become a hindrance for

people consuming food that are always on the go. However, there is a solution to

their cravings. Quick-Picks are designed to indulge consumers in the rich taste of

rice with dish combined to be eaten in a quick and easy way. It aims to provide a

comfort food that will be readily available at any given time of consumption.

In particular, this is effective for consumers ranging from ages 12 and

above and those who are food enthusiast since it does not limit any individual

type.

There are competitors arising in relation to our food product development

since it became significant for people to bring packed meals and consume it at

any given time. Even though Quick-Picks is made to be the food that you will

ever need, an emergence of competitors would be a challenge since there are

already known food production business in the market.

Demand Study #2

The table above represents the statistical data of annual supply and

demand for the company, Pao Tsin. It is a food kiosk located in food courts along

the malls that serves a ready-to-eat dumplings with rice. We personally

interviewed a staff working on the said company and we have gathered some

important information regarding its supply and demand. With that given

information, we have come up with a table showing its number of demand and

supply in a given period. As of the latest year, Pao Tsin opened their 274 th outlets

in the Philippines gaining more customers and demand. Furthermore, upon its

rapid accumulation of consumers, it provides a steady growth from the past 9

years. Due to the increase of demand, they triple the number of supplies

annually. The quantity of supply is lower than the number of demand since the

supplies are counted as per pack.

Target Market Profile

Based on the survey we conducted, the target market of our product

include students ranging from 17 years old and above, employees and workers,

and also non-working individuals. Students like to try out something that is new

and unique to their taste buds. Thus, students and employees are fond of

bringing packed meals, and snacks are consumed to satisfy their hunger. In this

case, the product would be perfectly available to meet their food indulgence

since it is convenient to bring and it will fulfill their appetite. Any individual who

wants to eat a snack and at the same time consume a heavy meal would

probably have the potential to consume our product. This provide satisfaction to

the consumers since it is ensures hassle-free from packed meals setbacks.

Market Research

The Market Survey was executed online for it was most accessible for the

respondents’ reachability. The survey questionnaire was done through the

Google Forms, a web-based application specifically used to create forms for data

collection purposes. Since cellphones are the most within our reach, we decided

to get their responses through answering it from the link we disseminated so that

it can easily be saved and processed. The app automatically generate results

and create charts to show its comparison. We have prepared 5 questions to meet

our market demands and to get their data accurately. Provided below is the

analysis of our questionnaire.

Profile of the Participants

The table 1.1 represents the percentage of the number of respondents in

a given classification. Most of the participants are students with the percentage of

85.6%. There are also employees who answered the survey with the percentage

of 5.7%, and for non-working individuals with 8.7%.

The table 1.2 displays the age of the participants ranging from 16 years

old and below, to 31 years old and above. Since most of them are students, the

highest percentage is ages ranging from 17-23 years old with the percentage of

75%, while next to it is ages ranging from 16 years old and below with the

percentage of 11.5%, 7.7% for those 31 years old and above, and 5.8% for those

24-30 years old.

Survey for Customer’s Preference

The table above expresses that there are 94.3% participants agreeing that

they feel irritated every time there is a food spill in their bag. It is visible that most

participants are bringing packed lunch which indicates the reason of their

approval. Meanwhile, there are least 5.7% who answered no from the question.

meal that they may find easier to prepare and carry around. It gained 99% of

those who agreed, and 1% to those who did not.

The table demonstrates the participants’ most preferable Filipino viand.

Above all, Sisig has the most preferable choice that the respondents chose with

50 votes. Next to it is Adobo that has 49 votes, Sinigang with 41 votes and

Caldereta with 32. There were other choices which the respondents specify such

as: Chicken, Kare-kare, Bicol Express, Lechon, etc. This is to gather information

regarding the most preferable Filipino viand for the target consumers so that the

company would have the idea for the main flavor of viand in which we are going

to make.

The table above displays the percentage of the assumed price for our

product, and it shows that the highest vote goes to the price ranging from ₱25-

50, with 47.6%. Next is the price ranging from ₱51-75 with 29.5%, ₱76-100 with

15.2%, and lastly there are still some who voted to be willing to pay from the

minimum price of ₱101 with 7.6%. This exemplifies the consumer’s willingness to

spend for our product. With that given information, we concluded that our product

must only be priced in between ₱25 up to ₱50 per pack with 3 pieces in it.

avail our product if it will be introduced in the marketplace. It indicates that

majority of respondents are willing to buy our product. Only 3.9% of the

respondents who are not interested to avail the Quick-Picks. The product we are

introducing are enticing to the target market since it is a unique finger food that

satisfies their desire of eating heavy meals. The convenience of consuming the

food is guaranteed and it comes very handy, in which they could bring anywhere.

It will greatly improve their eating habits and at the same time reduce the cost of

time in preparing the food. Therefore, they are much willing to avail the product

due to its convenience and uniqueness.

Product

The product, Quick-Picks, is a finger food consisting of seasoned rice filled

with meat chunks inside. It is shaped like a ball for its best consumption. It is

inspired from Japanese sushi, whereas sticky rice would be used but instead of

having the same filling, we decided to put a twist, whereas local Filipino cuisines

are the stuff inside as its filling. Famous Filipino dishes such as Sinigang, Adobo,

and Caldereta, are the main flavors for our product. It is designed to promote our

local food, yet to keep up with the changes that we cultivate today. It is a unique

finger food, since we traditionally eat those meals on the table, platted and with

the usage of utensils, with the product Quick-Picks, it would diminish the use of

utensils, yet it tastes even more delicious than its original form. It can be eaten

anywhere, at any given time for its convenience upon bringing it.

Quick Picks’ Logo

Disposable paper food trays are used as packaging for Quickee’s Quick-

Picks. With this, sanitation is guaranteed due to the fact that the packaging is a

single-use, disposable tray. The proponents are also putting the environment into

consideration in ways of recyclability of the packaging. Since the packaging is

composed of paper, cardboard, and foil, it is certain that it is non-toxic as well.

Pricing

The pricing of each Quick-Picks is based from the price of the ingredients

that the proponents used and the results from the survey that was conducted.

Each set of Quick-Picks (3 pieces) costs ₱50.00 and has already been adjusted

based on the price of ingredients of the Quick-Picks and the utility expenses that

affects the price of the product. The price of the Quick-Picks depended on how

the market price of the ingredient is. The price takes into consideration the factor

that measures the consumers' capability to purchase the product.

Place

Quick-Picks will be located along the food courts inside the malls,

particularly in SM Las Piñas, Pergola BF, Village Square Alabang, and other

malls nearby Parañaque City area. It is considered to be a significant vicinity

since it is most accessible to the target consumers. Most of the hangout places

that are typically visited by people is along Alabang and Parañaque City. Leasing

a space in malls is an advantage to lessen the average of naturally high foot

traffic. According to the latest market insights report, SM Las Piñas City has

gaining higher occupancy rate due to the increase in customers. In overall, SM

Las Piñas City would be the selected location for Quikee’s Kiosk.

Promotion

For their physical advertising, they will be distributing free taste for the

people around the mall. Quickee will also use the power of Social Media through

advertising in Facebook. It is essential to advertise a business in social media for

it is free and accessible to people. The page will also serve as a tool for our

product to be known. The budget that will be used for advertising in social media

is free. To sum it up, Quickee will be using physical and non-physical advertising

and the budget will be at a minimal cost.

Production Schedule

The proponents decided to produce their product, Quick-Picks weekly due

to the fact that their product is mainly composed of food which may spoil over

time. The product Quick-Picks is a ball shaped food that is ready to eat. Quick-

Picks contains rice and a portion of the customer’s chosen viand held in the

center of the food ball. The demand and supply will be checked weekly and be

monitored. In conclusion, Quick-Picks will be produced weekly to maintain its

freshness and restrict its possibility to spoil.

Quick picks is a new developed product released in the industry, for some

reasons it might have difficulties due to the fact that it has a lot of established

competitors, and maintenance. It has a risk of having less customers initially, in

part of this maybe its customers, which already gained a high demand and

consistently consumed by the customers. There is a risk regarding the

consistency of the product for it is new in the market. Also, there is a risk of

making customers instant trust and engage themselves with the product

immediately. In addition to that, the supply of the food ingredients must be

enough and not seasonal to avoid the lack in supplies and since this is a new

product and the raw ingredients are perishable goods, they are more likely to be

spoiled when not bought. The taste of the food, ambiance of the place and even

the place itself are crucial because this will be the key to gain the customer’s

trust.

THE TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Product Concept

Quick-Picks is a modernized food product and a finger food that provides

customers satisfaction when they are in a hurry. This Ready-To-Eat viand plus

rice are for instances wherein students, employees and other people forget about

their "baon". It is made up of a rice ball stuffed with Filipino viand. It is readily

available to their chosen food course that comes with variety of sauce that will

complete their savory cravings. Quickee aims to bring unconventional yet easeful

product that would change how they usually consume their food. This product

can also be an option for customers’ hectic schedules. It balances comfortability

and convenience upon their food intake. The product Quick-Picks is a hassle-free

from packed meals and eradicates the use of utensils.

Benefits. Attributes and Features

The beneficial attributes of the proponents’ product mostly revolves

around its portability, easy to consume, and its affordability. In accordance to

that, Quick-Picks are prepared in such a way that it gives consumers in a rush

the opportunity to satisfy their hunger while reducing the consumption of time.

With this, the sanitation of the said product is also a guarantee due to the

company’s proper care and usage of their equipment, and their monitored

but it is also considered as a full meal on account of its composition of rice and

Plant Location and Layout

The proposed business will be renting a space in SM Southmall, Las

Pinas City. The target consumers are students, teachers, office workers, and

nearby neighborhood. The researchers have seen that the place will be suitable

for putting up a kiosk because it is accessible and there are a lot of possible

customers. Below is the location of the proposed business.

Production Process

Lay out the Ingredients and the Equipment needed such as the adobo,

sisig and sticky rice. Cook the sticky rice according to the directions. Add about

1/4 cup more water per cup of rice to make it stickier. Ensure that you are

wearing a plastic gloves. Place a couple tablespoons of the cooked rice in the

center of you palm. Place your desired fillings on top of the rice. In this example,

we used adobo and sisig. Make sure that you separate the meat chunks from the

viand. Add about another tablespoon of rice on top of your fillings. Don't worry if it

doesn't completely cover the fillings. The rice from the bottom will come up to

cover the sides when you form the rice ball. Mold the rice into the palm of your

hand until it shapes into a ball. After that, just pour the sauce on top of the rice

ball and it's ready to serve.
