The DynaShearTM represents the latest technology for sanitary in-line continuous
processing. The DynaShear high shear mixer will blend, dissolve, disperse and
emulsify both miscible and immiscible fluids. It is the first in-line mixer
featuring a dual stage, tandem head design combining the benefits of
both an axial and a radial stage...creating excellent shear and flow
characteristics. The result is a processing unit with droplet and
particle size reduction capability of 2-3 microns or less while
providing flow capacities that are substantially higher than
existing in-line mixers and shear pumps.

ADVANCED MECHANICAL DESIGN FEATURES

THE DUAL STAGES WORK AS FOLLOWS:
The Primary Axial Stage
The axial stage consists of an axial flow
rotor feeding into a stator with multiple
small ports, forcing material between their
faces and out through the ports. This
mechanical and hydraulic action causes a
tremendous shearing action and "pre-mixes"
the materials prior to entry into the
secondary stage. Particle and droplet size
reduction of down to 5 to 7 microns are
typical in this stage.

The Secondary Radial Stage

The radial stage consists of a radial, high flow
rotor discharging through a slotted stator
providing additional mechanical and hydraulic
shear. The centrifugal force at this stage allows
for the mixture to be pushed away from the
shaft and along the radius of the stator, with
high speed expulsion occurring at the edge of
the slots. This stage provides a substantial
momentum change in the flow, resulting in
beneficial residence time for further refining to
be done on the mixture. Stable emulsions with
droplet sizes from 2 to 3 microns or less are
typical within this stage.

Processing Applications
Processing applications with the DynaShear are infinite. It is a versatile product that is specifically designed
for use within the sanitary markets. Not only is the DynaShear exceptional at minimizing oil droplets in
water for any oil and water mixtures, but it can also easily disperse any powders that tend to form clumps.
The DynaShear will produce very high concentrations of virtually all gums, including a solution of 3%
Xanthan Gum, without a "fish-eye" in sight. Whether agglomerates, pulp, hard particles, droplets, product
stability, or long mix times are the problem, the addition of the DynaShear is an efficient solution.

Food and Beverage

Within the food industry, the DynaShear can meet virtually all processing Beverages Condiments/Dressings
needs. High concentrations of Maltodextrin, Gelatin, Soy Proteins, and CMC Fruit Concentrates Flavorings
are dissolved quickly and easily. In one pass, the DynaShear can minimize Orange Juice Ketchup
oil droplets in water for production of shelf-stable salad dressings and Soft Drinks Mayonnaise

As with foods, the DynaShear is a necessity with oil and water emulsions
in the cosmetic industry. The particle size reduction that the DynaShear is
capable of makes it a beneficial tool in preparing lotions and creams that Cosmetics Personal Care
will have a long shelf-life. The difficulties in dispersing Carbopol™ Creams Deodorants
and Methocel™ solutions are completely eliminated. Titanium Dioxide Gels Liquid Soap
and Calcium Carbonate can be broken down for use in lotions, creams, Hair Dyes Shampoos
and sunscreens. Pharmaceutical processing applications using Aluminum Lipstick Toothpaste
Hydroxide and Zinc Oxide can be mixed smoothly. Examples of Lotions Sunscreens

The DynaShear is ideal for adding high shear to an existing batch mixing process where
only low speed agitation currently exists. Using an existing batch tank, ingredients can
be "pre-mixed" with low shear agitation for a few minutes, and then drawn in by the
DynaShear (self-pumping for low viscosity materials) for high shear processing and
finishing. A single pass through the DynaShear will provide the required result for most
low viscosity formulas, while 2 or 3 passes may be required where ultra refinement is
desired.

The DynaShear is an excellent high efficiency shear pump, with a throughput up to
65 GPM at low viscosity within our 5 HP unit (compared to 30 GPM through a
conventional shear pump). Larger models are capable of processing over 300 GPM, and
flow rates can be controlled through either flow constrictors or variable speed drives.
