be freely adjustable enabling an optimal signal to noise ration even under noisy substation condition.
The PD results shall be visualized as traditional, high-resolution, phase resolved PD patterns (PRPD).

For those cases when more sources of signal are detected at one location, an automated signal
separation based on a multi-channel synchronous technique shall be performed (3-Phase Amplitude
Relation Diagram – 3PARD). The separation technique shall have been commonly used in the field for
more than 15 years and shall be readily accepted by manufacturers and other users.

2.2 Sensors
The sensors installed at the asset shall be used for the PD detection. The sensors are connected to the
acquisition unit with double shielded coaxial cable via IP65 connectors.
The installation of the PD sensors shall not affect the clearances at the asset and shall not endanger in
any way the safe operation of the asset. Existing experience with the sensors shall be provided by the
portable measurement and monitoring system supplier.

The inductive sensors shall enable the PD detection in a frequency range from 80 kHz up to 25 MHz or
above.
The capacitive sensors shall enable the PD detection for voltage levels of 17 kV and 24 kV
The transformer bushing sensors shall enable the PD detection in a frequency range from 16 kHz to 10
MHz .
All sensors shall be designed in such a way that they can be left as a continuous installation at the various
assets and have a simple access point for save measurements or monitoring.

2.3 Data acquisition unit

Simple installation of the data acquisition unit.
The acquisition unit must be very versatile to allow it to be used with many different assets only requiring
small configuration changes in the monitoring or measurements software.

The unit itself must have a rugged design and allow for simple installation.

The PD signals shall be acquired by a four-channel, synchronous, FPGA-based acquisition unit and
processed by a digital band-pass filter which enables the unit to be operated both as a narrow-band and
as a wide-band PD detector. Therefore, the acquisition unit shall be suitable for both conventional (IEC
60270 compliant) and unconventional measurements (outside IEC60270 recommendations). The fourth
channel of the acquisition unit shall enable the improvement of the signal to noise ratio by means of
features, such as, channel gating available in the diagnosis software of the system.
The fourth channel of the acquisition unit can also be used for UHF measurements.

The main characteristics of the acquisition unit shall comply with the following technical data:

- Number of input channels 4

- Connector type TNC
- Frequency range
o AC: DC … 16 kHz
o PD: 16 kHz … 30 MHz
- Sampling rate
o AC: 31.25 kS/s
o PD: 125 MS/s

guidelines of the council of the European Community for meeting the requirements of the member states
according to the EMC directive 2004/108/EU, LVD directive 2006/95/EU and the RoHS directive
2011/65/EU.

2.4 Monitoring and Measurement Software
