Week 1 Meeting 1

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the period, the students should be able to:
D – grasp the significance of the school’s new vision, mission, and goals in their lives
M – grow into deeper understanding of the school’s new VMG and be able to apply the
values into their everyday life
W – ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as they live out the values drawn from the
school’s VMG through constant prayer

Core Value: (sense of community and mission, love for one’s school, loving service,
commitment, loyalty to one’s school)

III. LESSON PROPER


A. Motivation
- Why is there a need to have a VMG for a school? Is it necessary? Why?
- What would the school be like if it does not have a VMG? Explain.
- What are the vision-mission-goals of the school for its students?
- How the new VMG of the school address the needs of the students of this generation?

B. Development of the Lesson


1. What is the school’s new vision? How does the school envision the growth and
development of its students?
2. What is the mission of the school? How is it aligned to the universal mission of the
Church? In what way you can respond to the challenge of this mission?
3. What are the goals of the school for its students? How are these goals aligned to the
needs of the wider society? How would you respond to these global challenges?
4. Why is there a need to develop the old VMG of the school? And why is it necessary for
the students to be aware on the on-going systems and structures in the society?

C. Synthesis
The new vision-mission-goals of the school is presented in a way that could address the
needs of the learners of this generation. It is developed so that the school, together with
the community could help the students meet the challenges of today’s society. Also, the
development is part of the on-going task of the school to build a caring, sharing, helping,
forgiving, peace-promoting, loving, self-sacrificing group of people or community. This
community could help the pupils to equip their selves to become responsible citizens of
the country and become agents/source of transformation of the unhealthy structures and
systems in the society.

D. Application
How would the new school vision-mission-goals help you to meet the global challenges
present in our time?

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the period, the students should be able to:
D – identify the nature, objective, significance of Christian Life Education in the academic
track of the K-12 curriculum
M – enumerate ways by which one can become excellent by following the necessary
requirements for the subject
W – pray to God and ask for the help of the Holy Spirit as they start this new school year,
full of hope and love

commitment, loyalty to one’s school, equality, unity, uniqueness, punctuality on the
submission of requirements)

Week 1 Meeting 4

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the period, the pupils should be able to:
D – identify the inspiring points in the life story and contribution of St. Gregory the
Great and how she becomes a saint of purity
M – give ways to imitate St. Gregory’s acts of heroism and valor through their active
offering of time, talent or skills, in the different school activities especially for their
upcoming feastday in honor of St. Gregory
W – Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to intercede for them in their prayer life

II. SUBJECT MATTER – Patron Saint and School Prayers

III. LESSON PROPER


A. Motivation
- Who is your favorite cartoon character? Why do you like her/him most? What
qualities/characteristics are the same between you and this cartoon character?
- Can you give a name of a person whom you think embodies the qualities of your
favorite cartoon character? Why did you choose that person?

B. Development of the Lesson


1. Who is St. Gregory the Great?
2. Why did he become a saint?
3. What is the life story of Gregory the Great all about? And what is in him to be given
by the title “Doctor of the Church”? What is the historical background during his time? s
4. What are the major contributions of St. Gregory the Great in the Catholic Church?
5. How did the Church manage to survive during those great trials/tribulations? How
did he do it?

C. Synthesis
- St. Gregory the Great is one of the Great Doctors of the Latin Church
- Pope St. Gregory the Church did not only save the Church in times so frightful that
the men who lived in them during his time were sure that the end of the world would
come, but he founded the great civilization which has lasted down to our day and which
we are part.
- He made a general revision of the Liturgy of the Pre-Tridentine Mass, removing many
things, changing a few, adding some.
In letters, Gregory remarks that he moved the Pater Noster (Our Father) to immediately
after the Roman Canon and immediately before the Fraction.
- This position is still maintained today in the Roman Liturgy. He added liturgical songs
and were coined next to his name – Gregorian Chant.
- But above all his great works and contributions in the Catholic Church, Pope Gregory
the Great was known for being courageous in fighting and standing for the faith.

D. Application
- In relation to you faith-life experience, cite one particular difficulty/challenge that you
have experienced for the past years? How did you cope up with this difficulty? What
particular action did you take to overcome it? Explain.
- Include a short prayer

Note: The teachers will just review the usual prayers said by the students every morning before class.
These are not new prayers to be taught for the students. So an ample time will be allotted for this
activity.
