Reflection: Sacraments of Initiation

The sacraments of initiation are also called the mysteries of initiation. These are

the three sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. I learned that just like
joining organizations, the Catholic Church has this initiations to let our relationship with
God grew and be committed and devoted to His side. This is a way to impart God’s
grace.

In the Sacrament of Baptism, we are cleansed to be free from weakness and sins.
Being a Baptized Christian and Lasallian, my role in is not to be a sin-free person since as
a sin is our twin of nature as we live. My role in life is to accept and admit all those sins
on the Confession to Priest in the church and be able to reflect and change to my
betterment as an individual to this society.

Sacrament of Confirmation is relevant for the Roman Catholics because the

Confirmation is the sacrament that leads us to decide to deepen our relationship with God
in our baptismal life to call us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families,
neighborhoods, society, and the world.  This makes us receive the message of faith in a
deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus
Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the
community in loving service.

Attending the mass every Sunday for the Catholic Christians is very significant
because this is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. It is the ritual Jesus
performed with his disciples the night before he died and that we recall each time we
celebrate the mass. Jesus offers us his body and blood in the forms of bread and wine,
and in doing so we are mystically united to him and to the entire body of Christ, the
Church, the people of God.
