Evaluation of Responses to introduction of a flextime
system
Terms of reference
Ian Peters, Managing Director, has asked me to write a report on the effects by introduction of a
flextime system to the company.

Proceedings
I asked the Staff about their opinion on the introduction of the flextime system, and in addition I
asked Irene Allen, Chief Accountant about the financial implications of the flextime system.

Findings
1. Staff’s attitude towards flextime system. The majority of the staff (89%) would be in favour of the
introduction of a flextime system. Only 4% of the staff would be dissatisfied with the introduction.

2. Staff’s preference on having a day off instead of Saturday. Just over three-quarters (76%) of the staff
would prefer having a day off instead of Saturday, while 11% of the Staff would not prefer this possibility.

3. Which day Staff members would choose to have free . The most popular day to have free amongst
Staff is Wednesday (23% chose). The least desired day to take off is Tuesday (7% chose).

4. What Staff thinks about the benefits The most common opinions amongst Staff members are:
- Clients in different time zones would find it easier to contact us
-Clients could contact us on Saturday
-Staff would not be tired after the rush hour

5. What is Staff’s opinion about the introduction of a clocking-in system Just over a quarter (26%)
would be in favour of a clocking-in system

6. Benefits to the company In general the staff would be more satisfied with the workplace. The working
hours would be less stressful for the workers. Unique performance of staff members may increase. The
increased performance effects the Company’s earnings positively.

7. Disadvantages Not all the workers would be satisfied with the changes, maybe some of them will leave the
company. The introduction of the clockling-in system is not supported by the majority of Staff.

8. Financial implications
-Overheads will increase, but the costs of photocopying may reduce.
-The clocking-in system will cost £5,500 + VAT

Conclusions
The introduction of a flextime system would benefit most of our workers. They would be less
stressful in their life, and it would improve the work-environment. The clocking-in system costs way
too much as for how it is supported by the Staff.

Recommendations
We should introduce the flextime system, but we shouldn’t introduce the clocking-in system in
addition. We shall find an other method to record when our employees work.

Memorandum

Subject: The company’s policy in point of customers satisfaction

During this month i was getting a lot of complaints from customers

who had tried to get a refund or exchange shoes and who had been
turned away. I want to remind everyone about the company’s policy
as regards the customers satisfaction.
Always tell the customers to keep the receipt, or they can’t get
refund. Inform them that they can come back for a refund within 10
days if not satisfied. If someone asks for a refund always ask to see
receipt, check the date, and the status of the shoes (was it worn? / is
it still in box?).
If the above mentioned things are in complience with the conditions
offer a refund or an exchange (if there are other shoes in the same
price).
Note: We don’t give refund for sales goods. The sales goods are
exchangeable for other sales goods of same price.
