3. Review Zoom Tutorials

Before the Session
1. You will receive an email from your Program Manager that has a link to the program’s
scheduled Zoom session.
o Only use the dial-in option if your computer audio isn’t working.
2. Click on the link 10 minutes prior to the session start time to allow for time

You’ll be able to see who else has joined.
3. Be sure that your VIDEO is turned ON and that you are MUTED to cut out feedback.

During the Session
● While not the same as being in person, Zoom has capabilities that allow the class to be
conducted in an interactive way. The Professor will be able to see you, share his or her
screen so that you can see the PPT, assign you to breakout “rooms”, etc. You will be able
to post comments, “raise your hand”, ask the Professor to slow down, etc.
a. How to “Raise Your Hand” Video
b. More information can be found in the Zoom Overview
● Be sure to UNMUTE when you are asking a question.

● Raise your hand via the Hand button
● Send a comment/question via the Chat button
● Ask the Professor to slow down
● Mute/Unmute
● Participate in breakouts (as assigned by Professor)

Tips
● Be sure you are muted anytime you are not speaking. It will help eliminate feedback.
● If you need the Professor’s help during a breakout room session, click on “Ask for Help”
and then “Invite Host”. This will alert the Professor and he or she can then join your
breakout room.
● Turn your video off during breaks - turn it back on when the next session begins.
● Find a space that is as quiet and distraction-free as possible.
