Strategies to Enter the Newspaper Business

English newspaper: Times of India, Indian Express, The Hindu. TOI is a leading English
newspaper in India. It has various magazines, books and journals apart from the daily
newspapers like, femina, filmfare, etc. it also publishes Economic times, Mumbai Mirror, etc.
The Hindu is another large newspaper company. Finance daily frontline, sport star are some of
the magazines that Hindu publishes.

The Indian Express is the also a main competitor in the newspaper business. It has various
supplementary like The Sunday Express, The Financial Express. And Screen, - Periodical
dealing with the film and entertainment industry.

Malayalam newspaper: The main 2 Malayalam newspapers are Malayala Manorama and
Mathrubhumi.
Mathrubhumi has Magazines about health, children, women, sports, travel, film - fashion Arogya

 Widen the portfolio. Venture into areas like business line, lifestyle magazines, business
magazines, etc.
 Understanding and catering to the needs of consumers. The newspaper should do
extensive research to find what majority consumers want, it could be anything like sports,
entertainment or health, and accordingly must prioritize.
 Interesting/unique columns. The newspaper could have a one of it kind column which
alone can attract many readers.
