REFLECTIONS

Many Filipino parents lack the education regarding parenting adolescents. Some things
may not go well with them and their children if this is the case. The knowledge I have acquired
in Child and Adolescence Development surely contributed deeply in addressing these parents’
concern. Through the pamphlet given, I know in some way it could help them in guiding their
adolescent children.

Giving this pamphlet to the parents led me into a realization that Child and Adolescent
Development education is very important these days. I am happy to be able to share it to them
through a printed medium. Considering their comments, it is really hard to become a parent. It
requires a lot of responsibility in addressing their children’s needs and concerns. This really gave
me a moment of pondering.

As a future educator, I will strive to strengthen these knowledge that I have to be able to
do my part in the future as a guide to my students and a help to their parents.

 REFLECTIONS

Seeing the reactions of the parents upon reading the contents of the pamphlets was such
an inspiring moment. It felt like I was sent as an agent in extending something helpful to them
without them asking me to do so. It feels amazing to be able to extend arms to people who are
struggling and having issues regarding adolescent parenting.

Here are some thoughts that this inspiring moment had brought me into.

As a son, who had undergone the stage of adolescence, I would understand how
adolescents feel, think, and act. I know through the pamphlet I gave, the parents will be able to
understand their children. I know how it feels to be understood especially when it is your parents
appreciating you. I came to realize that, the harder to become an adolescent, the harder to really
become a parent to them.

As a student, who loves to explore and discover new things, I assume the position of the
adolescent in giving reasons, explanations and interpretation to some things. I wonder how hard
it is to parent such children. It requires a lot of patience.

As a youth leader it is very important to become an agent in showing examples to the

youth, considering their social development. Parents sometimes cannot control their children.

As a future educator, I will make sure that I will build a strong link to my students’ parent
in the future to help them give proper guidance to their children.

There are so many problems that the youth is facing today. These issues can be prevented
through CAD education. I believe that the given pamphlet will contribute in addressing such
issues of the youth through an educative, loving and proper parenting.
