The two heroes ZET and ALPHAS face the inevitable battle of the cruel fate!
The story starts off with a face-off between two rival heroes, ZET and
ALPHAS, and then traces their origins - Jin Kanzaki, a young man with the
ability to transform into a superhuman being known as ZET, and Kouga
Amagi, a young man with a strong sense of justice who uses technology to
fight as ALPHAS.
The fates of these two men and those around them intertwine as they fight
to protect mankind and destroy monstrous abominations known as Players,
who ironically are the creations of the Amagi Corporation, the company
founded by Kouga’s grandfather, Mitsugai Amagi.

Jin Kanzaki /ZET: The main protagonist. A mysterious young man bearing
a circular lump on the back of his left hand, Jin was a result of the Z.E.T.
Project by the Amagi Corporation to create the perfect being to fight and
destroy the escaped Players. Jin is able to transform a creature known as
“ZET”, a mutant possessing superhuman abilities, but often mistaken for
another Player. The transformation is slow, though it may be accelerated due
to extreme rage and conditions.The source of his strength appears to be the
mysterious lump on his hand.
Kouga Amagi /ALPHAS: Grandson of Mitsugai Amagi. Kouga has developed

a strong sense of justice since young. Urged by his encounter with Jin during
a fire accident (caused by a Player) to become a hero of justice. He had been
depending on a trio of researchers since middle school for gadgets which
could assist him in his escapades. After learning about the Players and his
grandfather’s involvement in the project, he initiates the ALPHAS Project
with the Trio, who created a high-performance combat body suit resembling
Kouga’s childhood hero, complete with high-tech weaponry and gadgets, to
combat his grandfather’s creations.

Once upon a time there were two brothers, Hibito and Mutta.
Hibito, the littler brother, had been blessed with good luck since
the day he was born. Mutta, the elder, had always had bad luck.
One day, the two brothers saw a UFO. This experience made them
decide to become astronauts. And while Hibito succeeded, Mutta
went to work for a car company. Then he caused an incident and
had to quit. And then just as Hibito is about to fly to the moon...
When they were little, two brothers, Mutta and Hibito made a
promise to each other as they looked up into the night sky. In the
year 2025, Hibito has kept his promise and become an astronaut,
part of the first wave of people to live for an extended period of
time on the moon.
Meanwhile, his older brother Mutta has been fired from his job
and is unemployed. But one message from his brother makes him
decide to start being an astronaut again.
Thirty two year old Mutta will attempt the astronaut candidate
examinations.
To follow his brother Hibito to the moon, Mutta will attempt to
become an astronaut at the age of 32. Unaware of his own talent,
elder brother Mutta chases his dreams to get back in front of his
younger brother.

Hiiro no Kakera is a Japanese visual novel created by Idea Factory directed

at the female market, known as an otome game. Released on July 6, 2006 for
the PlayStation 2.
The protagonist is a teenage girl (Tamaki) who revisits a small village, she
remembers from her childhood and gets caught up in her family’s history
and supernatural dangers surrounding it.
While walking along the hillsides waiting for the person who her
grandmother sent to fetch Tamaki to the village, Tamaki comes across a
small, white round object with sticks for limbs and talks. It runs off soon
after, with Tamaki chasing after it. Soon Tamaki finds herself in a place
where ‘it doesn’t feel like the world I came from’. She gets attacked by three
slime creatures, and a male comes charging in to save her - by clamping his
hands around her body and mouth and telling her to be quiet.

The scene is set at a Japanese traditional onsen ryokan (hot-spring inn)

named ‘Kissuiso’ located in Ishikawa prefecture far off from Tokyo.
The story is led by ‘Ohana Matsumae’, a 16-year-old Tokyo native girl who
ends up working at ‘Kissuiso’. Like most teenage girls her age, she hopes
and dreams of the future.
One day her mother told Ohana about their plan of moving out of their
apartment overnight to avoid debts. Her mother sends Ohana to her
grandmother she had never met in Ishikawa prefecture. It turns out that
her grandmother is the Okami (landlady) of Kissuiso.
Ohana, which she had no other place to go, was allowed to stay with her
grandmother under one condition: work under her at Kissuiso. Obviously
Ohana had no experience in working at a traditional onsen ryokan where
strict practice and tradition is respected.
Searching for a life-changing opportunity, her life changes drastically
overnight. Ohana makes new friends with the other girls (Nako and Minko)
also working at Kissuiso.
A slice of life yet human drama of Ohana and her mates struggling from
gaps in culture and customs but at the same time being inspired by one
another through their daily life.
Tenth anniversary work for P.A. Works. A complete original story directed
by Masahiro Ando features original character designs by Mel Kishida (So-
Ra-No-Wo-To).

Strong delinquent Oga picks up a baby that turns out to be the Prince of
the Demon Lord! Chosen to raise the baby until he’s in age of destroying
mankind...
The story follows the “strongest juvenile delinquent”, Oga Tatsumi, he is a first
year in “Ishiyama High School” the school for delinquents. The story starts as he
is telling the story of how he found the baby to his best (and only?) friend Furuichi
Takayuki.
One day while fishing by the river (actually, taking revenge on people trying to kill
him in his sleep), he sees a man floating down it, he pulls him to shore and the
man splits in half revealing a baby boy. This boy is the Prince of the Demon Lord
and he has been chosen as the one to raise it with the baby’s maid Hilda.
The story follows Oga’s life with the child and at the delinquent school. The early
chapters of the manga follow Oga as he attempts to ‘pass on’ Baby-Beel to other
students at Ishiyama, (The theory is that if Oga can find someone more evil and
stronger than him, Baby-Beel will attached to that person instead of Oga).
After subsequently fighting and defeating all members of the Tohoshinki and
in the process, destroying Ishiyama High School itself, Oga and company are
transferred to Saint Ishiyama Academy, which appears to be a direct opposite of
the delinquent school.
Written and illustrated by Ryuhei Tamura that serializes in Shueisha’s Weekly

A Japanese light novel series by Kizaki Kaya, with illustrations by Akata
Itsuki. The novel series premiered in 2007 and presently has 11 volumes
published by Shueisha under their Super Dash Bunko imprint.
The story begins when a high school boy named Ryuji is dragged by his
cousin Eriko to rescue a girl from black-market dealers. The mysterious
blue-eyed “girl” turns out to be a dragon of some sorts who becomes
devoted to Ryuji, living with him and following him everywhere even when he
is bathing and sleeping. They named the girl ‘Rose’ and Ryuji finds himself
stuck in a situation of protecting her from the black market dealers and
others at all costs.

NURA: Rise of the Yokai Clan has been serialized in the Japanese manga
anthology Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2008.
Rikuo Nura, a middle-school student, part human and a quarter Youkai

(demon), lives in a house full of spirits along with his grandfather. Despite his
grandfather‘s wish to succeed him as the Master of the Nura Youkai clan, he
stays away from blood and guts and lived in an ordinary peaceful student life
world.
In times of impending danger his youkai blood awakens and he switches into
his night form to become the Master of the Youkai (The master of all spirits).
Destined to take over as The Third Master of Nura Youkai clan from his
grandfather. Rikuo once embraced the idea and played pranks on the other
Youkai, but after realizing the evil nature of the youkai deeds he rejects the idea
of becoming their master. He attempts to become more like a normal human by
doing all sorts of good deeds, but he still appreciates his youkai underlings. After
being tested by Gyuuki he decides to take the position of Young Head and saves
both humans and Youkai.
However, being a quarter Youkai, he can only transform at night or in darkness
and reverts to normal in sunlight. Originally he couldn’t remember things he did
as his “Night” form, but he later is able to see and communicate with him.
Multiple factions aim to stop him or overtake his position. He plans to gather a
new Hyakki-Yako (“Night Parade of One Hundred Demons“) under his banner of
“Fear“.

Set in the private Hakujo Academy high school in Japan, the series centers
around the male protagonist Yuto Ayase and his classmate Haruka Nogizaka.
While Yuto is rather ordinary, Haruka is very attractive, intelligent, and rich.
Consequently, she is the school‘s most unattainable girl and is idolized. One
day, when Yuto goes to return a book to the school library, he stumbles across

Story:

each other, the assassination squad closes in . . . and the

A case is reported to the Criminal Affairs Division of a police precinct in a quiet,

rural town. Kurokawa Suzuki, a detective with exceptional powers of deduction,
and his subordinates Shiraishi Kosaku and Akagi Tadashi rush to the crime
scene. The case has occurred in the mountains, at a farm for high-grade
wasabi and the murder victim is the farm’s owner, Sonoyama Shigeo. His eldest
daughter, Sonoko, was the first person to discover his body. The wasabi that
Shigeo cultivates is of the highest grade. All of it has been stolen.
So Shiraishi deduces that it was the work of a group of thieves from a
neighbouring town. The glass of the greenhouse in which Shigeo grew orchids
was also broken, but oddly enough, the orchids were not stolen. Kurokawa

doubts Shiraishi’s theory about the group of thieves. If they were the culprits,
they did not need to kill Shigeo. He speculates that it was someone who would be
in trouble if his or her face was seen. Kurokawa narrows his suspects down to

”Ryujin Mabuyer” is a community-based live-action superhero TV series that was

inspired by the “Super Sentai” (Super squad, aka Power Rangers) series. Such
shows typically advertise the localities in which they are set.
In this series, the characters speak in Okinawa’s local dialect and have
Okinawan names. Unlike other superhero series, the villains in ‘Ryujin Mabuyer,’
collectively known as ‘Majimun’, are not depicted as totally evil. They even bury
the hatchet with Mabuyer in the end, which is unprecedented among superhero
series.
The story is about the nine stones called ‘Mabui-stone’ scattered around
in Okinawa area. These stones each carry an unique magical power which
is believed to be possessed by the soul of the Okinawa’s legendary dragon.
Majimun attempts to collect the nine stones and destroy Okinawa’s culture and
tradition where Ryujin Mabuyer fights against and stop them from doing so.
Unlike similar projects in other parts of Japan, the Mabuyer live-action TV series
spanned three seasons and a spin-off. The popularity of the show’s characters
continues to grow along with their appearances at local events held constantly
throughout the year.

Okinawa was turned into a fierce battlefield during World

War II, which led to a serious shortage of doctors after the
war. Therefore military medics and doctors’ assistants
provided medical care as substitute doctors.
These people, called the “Medical Service Men”, were
unlicensed doctors and this drama highlights such
unlicensed doctors that have long been ignored by the
media.
The story is modeled on Zensho Miyazato’s life of hardship

for over 60 years (Yoshiaki Miyamae in the drama). He was
called the “Last Medical Service Man”, and this drama
portrays the bond between a doctor and a patient, which is
the fundament of medical care.
In 1959, Yoshiaki was working as a “Medical Service Man” in
Okinawa under U.S. rule after the war with his wife, Hana’s
support. He was often unable to charge for treatment
because people were so poor . While trying to help as many
lives as he could, he was also torn by the fact that he wasn’t
a proper doctor.
One day, a woman comes to the clinic distressed over
her pregnancy, not knowhing whether her baby was her
husband’s or that of an American soldier who raped her a
few weeks ago...

Sea of Japan with the Pacific Ocean. Everyone around him,
including his family, failed to understand his dream.
Why on earth did he keep planting cherry trees? He was
looking for the meaning of life in the cherry blossoms that

of life. Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Second
World War, this special drama tells a remarkable true story
of Chiune Sugihara, also known as the Japanese Schindler.
Sugihara, the Japanese Consul-General is sent to Lithuania
to open a consulate service to report on Russian troop
movements during the war. One morning in late July of
1940, his family finds hundreds of Jewish refugees gathered
outside the consulate’s gate requesting transit visas for
Japan to escape the Nazi Holocaust. Sugihara asks the
government three times for permission, but his requests are
turned down because Japan at that time is allied to Germany.
After a great deal of thought, he decides to act. He issues
countless visas by hand to save the lives of more than six-
thousand Jews. For his efforts Sugihara was dismissed from
the diplomatic service in 1945 and the family had to endure
many hardships thereafter. His receipt of the “Righteous
Among the Nations” award from Israel in 1985 finally lead to
his recognition around the world, yet his heroic actions are
still little-known in Japan.

The story focuses on the Seven Stars of the Northern Dipper, a.k.a. the seven
Mabui (soul) = study, health, appetite, courage, loyalty, patience, and mercy. Each
seven Mabui is the indispensable heart and soul which resides deeply among
Uchinanchu, the people of Okinawa.
Mabuyer, together with his partner Ganasea, strives to save Uchinanchu from
Majimun by bringing the stolen Mabui back. However, the real message behind
Majimun’s attempt was to alert people about the ongoing environmental
destruction caused by the humans. And here, the true superhero responds….

format that guarantees the most unexpected results!
Persuading members of the public to run a spontaneous baton relay race
between two distant locations sounds like an impossible task. Yet this is exactly
what Cell Phone Relay sets out to do: To get a cell phone—the baton—from one
landmark to another by having members of the public run with it for as long as
they can before finding someone else to hand the phone on to. The phone gets
handed from person to person all the way to its destination.
The appeal of the show lies partly in the absurdity of being given a phone by a

complete stranger and being asked to run toward some distant destination,
and partly in the simple pleasure of passing a few moments in the company
of a stranger during the course of a journey. By the time the phone nears its
destination we find ourselves cheering the runners on, knowing that the goal

The contest is open to anyone—individual eccentrics and enthusiasts, as well as
university and company teams—and the format is flexible enough to accommodate
everyone.
Over the years, the show has grown in scope and ambition. There are now three
categories—glider, propeller and ‘challenge’—each with its own charm, memories

of unforgettable flights (and disasters) and, of course, distance and speed records.
And for the competitors, it’s all about breaking these records: everyone launches
their craft from the same 10-meter-high pier in Like Biwa in central Japan to see
how far or how fast they can fly. Some nosedive straight into the lake, while others
catch the breeze and soar for hundreds or even thousands of meters. The current
record in the propeller category, set in 2003, stands at an astonishing 34,654
meters.
Of the three categories, perhaps the most graceful is the glider category. With
nothing more than the wind—and good aerodynamic design—to keep them airborne,
some of these extraordinary handmade gliders sail for hundreds of meters out into
the lake.
The propeller category attracts the most entrants, and it’s where we find the
fiercest competition. Teams from universities, technical schools and companies are
common in this category, and many of the craft display a high degree of engineering
skill and ingenuity.
With the recent introduction of a time-trial category, it’s not just about distance
anymore; aircraft are designed for maximum speed in an adrenaline-fueled
competition against the clock.
The ‘challenge’ category is the newest feature of the Rally, and is designed to
promote originality, creativity and innovation. Entrants in this category share the
dream of flight, but not always the technical necessities to make it happen. Many
bring humor and not a little daring to the contest as they leap from the platform
with their flying machines that gleefully ignore all the principles of aeronautical
engineering. Entrants in this category are judged not so much on how far they fly
but rather on originality and creativity.

A cooking show that presents a mouthwatering dilemma!
Skillfully mixing elements of a cooking show, a game show, a variety show and the
educational format, Cooking Showdown has proved to be a huge success in several
countries already. As a show with delicious food as its centerpiece, people from a wide
demographic can enjoy watching the participants twist and turn in temptation over a
mouthwatering menu.
Celebrity contestants are forced to make a choice between two succulent dishes, which
is something that anyone who has been to a fine restaurant with a tantalizing selection
of food is familiar with. The only difference is, these dishes have been prepared using the
penultimate ingredients, selected by traveling far and wide in search of the ‘best-of-the-
best’. It won’t be easy to make the choice, since the dishes closely resemble each other,
and have been prepared by first-rate chefs.
Two hosts, helped by enticing footage of the food’s preparation, its history and culture,
introduce the two battling dishes. The panelists are invited over to the studio kitchen to © YTV
meet the chefs, and get a hint of what’s in store. It’s here that the show builds up a sense
of anticipation. We are taken around the country to collect the finest available ingredients
as they are showcased one-by-one. While the audience learns about each dish, they are
also entertained by the hosts doing battle over the panelists’ stomachs.
Finally, when the panelists are forced to make their choice, we can experience the ecstasy
of the winners and the envy of the losers. But it’s not just the losing panelists who are left
feeling hungry; the audience also seems to keep coming back for more!

reaction at all.
• We’ll ask for ideas for the menu of an actor who’s playing as an idiot takoyaki seller. Will the ideas work? Will the actor be
able to make his shop a success?
• Viewer surveys will be conducted to determine which actor will play which character.

pure entertainment. The object of the rally—to fly as far or as fast as possible
in a homemade flying machine—is something that anyone can relate to and it is
fascinating to see how people take up the challenge.
The Rally has been held every year since 1977, and generates a huge amount
of interest when aired each September. What distinguishes the Japan Birdman
Rally from similar events in other countries is the range and quality of entries.
The contest is open to anyone—individual eccentrics and enthusiasts, as well as
university and company teams—and the format is flexible enough to accommodate
everyone.
Over the years, the show has grown in scope and ambition. There are now three
categories—glider, propeller and ‘challenge’—each with its own charm, memories

of unforgettable flights (and disasters) and, of course, distance and speed records.
And for the competitors, it’s all about breaking these records: everyone launches
their craft from the same 10-meter-high pier in Like Biwa in central Japan to see
how far or how fast they can fly. Some nosedive straight into the lake, while others
catch the breeze and soar for hundreds or even thousands of meters. The current
record in the propeller category, set in 2003, stands at an astonishing 34,654
meters.
Of the three categories, perhaps the most graceful is the glider category. With
nothing more than the wind—and good aerodynamic design—to keep them airborne,
some of these extraordinary handmade gliders sail for hundreds of meters out into
the lake.
The propeller category attracts the most entrants, and it’s where we find the
fiercest competition. Teams from universities, technical schools and companies are
common in this category, and many of the craft display a high degree of engineering
skill and ingenuity.
With the recent introduction of a time-trial category, it’s not just about distance
anymore; aircraft are designed for maximum speed in an adrenaline-fueled
competition against the clock.
The ‘challenge’ category is the newest feature of the Rally, and is designed to
promote originality, creativity and innovation. Entrants in this category share the
dream of flight, but not always the technical necessities to make it happen. Many
bring humor and not a little daring to the contest as they leap from the platform
with their flying machines that gleefully ignore all the principles of aeronautical
engineering. Entrants in this category are judged not so much on how far they fly
but rather on originality and creativity.

Iwate Prefecture’s Hiraizumi was officially designated a U.N. World Heritage Site this march.
The Buddhist culture of Iwate began when the Fujiwara clan attempted to create “The pure land
where the Buddha dwells” on Earth.
At the center of this project were the famous Chuson-ji Temple and Motsu-ji temple. The
program will explore the beauty of the Hiraizumi site, as well as the romantic history behind it.

To End Our Days on the Mountain 2009 60’
山で最期を迎えたいある夫婦の桃源郷
Mr. Torao Tanaka (93), and his wife, Fusako (88) live deep in the mountains of
Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Shortly after WWII, Torao Tanaka came back to Japan and with his wife Fusako
bought a mountain near their home town. Their aim was to create a self-
sufficient life. They brought up three daughters, invited parents and siblings, and
spent happy days there.
Around 1960s, during the years of high economic growth in Japan, they moved
to Osaka for their daughters’ future. However, in retirement they left Osaka and
went back to the mountain. No electricity, no running water – just a cabin deep in
the mountains.
Their three daughters, who remained in Osaka, begged their parents to live with
them in the city. But as time went on and they began to get older themselves,
their attitudes changed and they began to understand their parents better. Their
parents wanted to end their days on the mountain, and their daughters supported
them in their wish, realizing that they had lived a good life.

This excellent documentary follows the life of people who don’t try too hard and
accept the smallest happiness as happiness! This is a “neighborhood story”
that is heartwarming and somewhat nostalgic, staged in a small okonomiyaki
restaurant.
The Ohama area of Imabari-Shi, Ehime Prefecture, is a small fishermen’s town
of just 800 people. On a small, old-fashioned street stands an okonomiyaki
restaurant called Shoman. The restaurant owner is Mizuho Higaki (59), whose
nickname is “Miko-chan.”
With Miko-chan’s big smile and witty talk, Shoman is constantly full of regulars.
And although they all have their own unique problems and troubles in life,
everyone is
connected. But Shoman’s neighborhood is aging and continues to depopulate.
The
program follows the lives of the people in Miko-chan’s neighborhood. It’s a
“neighborhood story” that follows the deep connections of the people there.
