ACTIVITY #1: MEME MAKING

“HOW TO TALK TO ANYONE”

“Just as language and writing is a form of communication, so are memes. Even though
these images incorporate only short written messages, they’re usually understood by the
receiver or audience. These short texts in memes are supposed to express the way we talk
instead of how we write. As we learned in class, the way we speak is less formal and more
processed in chunks. We mirror our speech patterns in memes. Therefore, when we
communicate with memes, we are communicating with a graphic form of speech. And just as a
person can be the dominate speaker in a normal conversation, this situation can happen with
meme sharing as well. One-person initiates communication with someone by showing them a
meme through their phone or sending one to someone online. The other person either reacts
with laughter, emojis, a sentence, or not at all (we all get left unseen occasionally).”

ACTIVITY #2: ESSAY WRITING

“THE ART OF BEING NORMAL”

The society has been dramatically changed with the evolution of technology. Before the
advent of modern-day technology, life was burdensome and everyday chores consumed too
much of our time. Immense opportunities are being provided by technologies which play an
important role in human life. The access to education, medicine, industry, transportation etc.
has been simplified due to modern day technology. Due to the convenience and efficiency
provided by technology, our lives have improved significantly. There used to be a time when
executing a simple task like doing laundry would take most of the day. Thanks to modern
technology, a lot of burden has been lifted from our shoulders and we have more time and
energy to do what we want to. With so many advantages and comfort, come the disadvantages
too. Technology is being used imprudently these days resulting in affecting the society
negatively and complicating our lives. Relationship with family members is being weakened due
to excessive involvement with various devices. Although in a few cases, parents’ resort to
technology to communicate with their children and know about their whereabouts but this is
not adequate always. Technology has made access to education easier, but it is also resulting in
weakening the memories of people. In means of weakening, there comes the word "bullying".
The idea of bullying is truly frightening, and the arrival of modernization new gadgets makes
everything even worse. Cyber bullying, what comes first to your mind? Mean comments like
‘you are worthless’. Let me tell you about it, cyber bullying is more than just putting a harsh
comment on “ugly” photos or videos or simply uploading something that is against other
people. Unfortunately, some individuals perform cyber bullying just to satisfy their thirst for
attention. However, what they fail to recognize is that it can detrimentally affect someone’s life
and indeed, it is becoming a serious problem in society. Although technological gadgets have
become a great assistance for most people, severe consequences are still to be faced.

ACTIVITY #3: CHILDHOOD OBSESSION

“TWO PAIRS OF SHOES”

Shoes are not only worn to protect the human feet. They are also worn because they
add the final touch to the style you are trying to create. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure how or
why I got into collecting basketball shoes, it all happened quite organically. I never was really a
fan of wearing my trainers until they were battered like "normal" people do, I'd always rather
maintain them and get a new pair anyway regardless if I needed them or not. From there I
began looking for and buying up shoes that my parents could not afford to buy me during my
youth (pre-teens). Until that day I begun to search for shoe blogposts on the internet and watch
YouTube videos about it, it brings up the media literate in myself because for me, media literacy
is defined as "the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and communicate messages in a variety of
forms". In more practical terms, media literacy is connected in questioning the media and
interpreting its many messages accordingly. I myself is exposed to mass quantities of media
daily about shoe collecting. I watch television and movies, read books, newspapers, and
magazines, listen to music about the addictive shoes, and in more recent years I explore the
Internet. As a youngster I always envied my mates as their parents got them the latest Jordan’s,
Nike's, Reeboks etc. my upbringing wasn't the easiest, especially as I had to wear brands like
Asics, New Balance, Loafers, Cartooned trainers. Why trainers? Why not I say, why collect
anything in life? Trainers have always been very relevant to me and my interests, they are
interesting, and all have meaning along my lifetime. Everyone from family to friends thought I
was crazy having 100 trainers stacked up in my closet. Collecting sneakers is just like any other
itemized hobby to me. We put forward a lot of time and energy towards this hobby, just like
anyone else would do with their coin collections or baseball card collections. My entire world
doesn't revolve around sneakers. I have priorities in life, and collecting sneakers is just a side gig
that I truly enjoy doing. The history of shoes is very long, and nobody really knows when the
first shoes were created but we do know that they were originally made to warm the feet. Now,
there are many different types and each kind helps you function a different way. The shoe is
also made up of many parts and every kind of shoe has different parts then other types. Year by
year, shoes have been improving and becoming more and more popular. Now, we have all the
equipment and all the materials we need to make the shoe better than ever.
