Past Continuous
A) PAST SIMPLE
Use: -To talk about actions that started and finished in a specific point in time.
-The actions happened just once.
-These actions are often referred as “the main event”
Verbs: -Regular: -ED
WORK – WORKED /t/
STAY – STAYED /d/
WANT – WANTED /id/
-Irregular: NO rules.
EAT – ATE
SING – SANG
READ – READ /red/
PUT – PUT
Auxiliaries:-Other verbs: Did/Didn't
-Verb To Be: Was/Wasn't – Were/Weren't
B) PAST CONTINUOUS:
Form: Verb To Be (was / were) + V-ING
Use: -To describe an action in progress in the past and was interrupted.
I was doing my homework when you called.
-While/When are often use to connect sequence of events.
While he was playing video games, she cooked dinner.
When they arrived, we were singing karaoke.

Stative verbs describe a state rather than an action. They aren't usually used in the present continuous form.

She really likes you. She's really liking you.
He seems happy at the moment. He's seeming happy at the moment.
