Popcorn was discovered over 5,000 years ago in Mexico. It was an
Indian food. Corn was thrown on hot stones in a fire. The fire made the corn
pop. It was a game to catch the popcorn and eat it.
The Indians of North America also ate popcorn. When the first English
settlers arrived in America, the Indians gave them popcorn. The settlers
loved the food, and they often ate it with sugar for breakfast.
