A message from First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons, Madison, CT:

Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to be become a hurricane before making landfall in the
Carolina’s tonight. A tropical storm warning has been expanded to include all of Connecticut
and Massachusetts.

Tropical storm force winds are expected to arrive in our area at approximately 3:00 p.m. on
Tuesday afternoon. This might include gusts of up to 68 mph when it arrives and sustained
winds of 50 – 60 mph Tuesday afternoon and evening.  The most likely timing for the tropical
storm force winds is still from 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday afternoon. This timing may continue
to change by a few hours as we get closer to the time of impact. The primary threat still appears
to be from strong winds primarily in western Connecticut, accompanied by some heavy rain.
There is also the risk of a few weak tornadoes.  Fortunately, the arrival timing brings the
strongest winds into the coast at low tide.  Therefore, only minor coastal flooding is expected.

As a precaution, we are expecting to close all Town beaches and parks by noon tomorrow and
all Town sponsored summer camps will end at noon. Please note that this is subject to change
based on the track of the storm. It is important that all residents take the time now to secure
loose items in your yard that have potential to be thrown around by wind or rising water, and
prepare for power outages and tree damage, potentially for an extended period of time.

Stay safe and healthy Madison.

Thank you.
