Background
Uniquely Unified

Culture, heritage and race are embedded in every person’s identity. Uniquely

United was founded to bring together different races, in order to more deeply

appreciate the identity of those around us.

UU has chosen Rihanna Fenty in collaboration for a fashion line because she

has experienced interracial relationships her entire life. She states, “In my own

household, my father is half black, half white,” the singer and designer says. “My

mom is black from South America. I was seeing diversity. That’s all I knew.”

● Rihanna Fenty

○ Rihanna Fenty is an international pop star, singer, performer, fashion

designer, philanthropist and makeup creator.
○ Fenty was born and bred in Barbados and is 29 years old.
○ She embraces every race and in the launching of her makeup line.
Rihanna states, “With every product I was like, ‘there needs to be
something for a dark-skinned girl, there needs to be something for a
pale-skinned girl and everything in between.”
○ In a press release, Rihanna said her goal in creating Fenty Beauty was
inclusivity. She stated, “The Fenty Face was created for women of all
skin tones, of all personalities.”
Inclusivity helped Rihanna’s personal brand and she’s supporting UU for the

same reason. Uniquely United will bring together racial communities among our

nation in a different way. Art and creative elements allow different cultures to

express their identities, without the use of words. Art cannot be silenced, it is seen

and appreciated for what it truly is. And that is why UU has chosen this specific

platform.

“We can’t do it divided. I cannot emphasize that enough. We can’t let the

de-sensitivity seep in. The, ‘If it’s your problem, then it’s not mine. It’s a woman’s

problem. It’s a black people problem. It’s a poor people problem’.” said Fenty,

who was named Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year in 2017.
