IV. PROCEDURES

What I need to know?

The learners will read the introduction part in their module for them to prepare
themselves on what they need to know and do.

In assembling electronics products there are some procedures need to consider

in having a quality products. Following the procedures systematically contributes
to your quality outputs. By this means, you will familiar yourself in assembling
electronics products at the same time, your skills will be practice until you become
a successful electronics enthusiasts. There are some processes to consider and
follow in order to have a quality Printed Circuit Board. These are Designing PCB,
Etching PCB and Boring or making holes.

What’s new?

LET’S DO TOGETHER

A. Mark the different tools, materials and processes in assembling Printed

Circuit Board.

A. Introduction

The learners define the following terms based on their own definition and
understanding:

a. Designing PCB;
b. Etching PCB;
c. Boring PCB;
What I know?

 The learners will answer the following questions found in their module in
order to find out what they already know about the topics to be discussed
in the self-made module.

Answer the following.

1. What is etching process?
2. What are the tools and materials needed in etching process?
3. What are the steps in boring process?
4. Which of the following process is the most complicated? Why?

Arrange the following steps:

A. Designing a PCB

-Cover the copper side of the copper clad using masking tape
-Draw/Lay-out the given design on the surface of the masking tape using
pencil
B. Development -Cut the un-shaded part of the masking tape using cutter
-Clean the copper side of the copper clad
-Prepare the tools and materials needed

B. Etching PCB

-Prepare the tools and materials needed

- Place the designed PCB into the plastic tray with ferric chloride (Wait for
10-15minutes to finished the etching process
-Clean the PCB in running water
-Shake slowly the plastic tray for 10-15minutes
-Add exact amount of ferric chloride on the plastic tray

C. Boring or Making Holes in PCB

-Mark the terminals of each components using ballpen

-Plug the mini-drill and turn it on
-Place the tip of the drill bit to the point that you are going to bore.
Bore holes on all of the point you mark.
-Prepare the tools and materials needed.
-Remove the masking tape and clean the soldered part of the finished PCB.

What’s in?

 The learners will read the content of the topic in assembling Printed
Circuit Board on their Module.
 If they have an internet connection, the learners watch the video on how to
make/assemble Printed Circuit Board using the link given.

Based on the video, The learners will answer the follow-up questions:

1. What the video is all about?

2. What are the tools and materials presented on the
video?
3. What are the different processes involved that are
presented in the video?
4. Do you think you can make your own PCB? If
your answer is yes, let’s try it.

After reading the content of the topic covered in the module, the learners will
assemble their own PCB by following the processes and step by step procedure.

What’s more?
 The learners will perform the activities indicated in the module.

The following are the given activities to be undertaken:

a. Design a PCB
b. Etch the finished designed PCB
c. Bore holes on the etched PCB
d. Clean the PCB for mounting and soldering process

 Through online learning, the teacher will show a video / powerpoint

presentation of the following:
a. Steps in assembling or making PCB

Link: https://youtu.be/ie7hUKlCzO4
C. Engagement

What I can do?

The learners will apply their learning by:
a. Following the steps on how to assemble or make PCB.
b. Asking their parents to guide them to finish the given tasks.
c. Observing precautionary measures before, during and after
the given tasks
What other enrichment activities can I engage in?
(Additional Activities)
The learners will be performing other enrichment tasks such as :
a. Practice assembling a PCB at their vacant time.
b. Writing a simple paragraph on how they assemble their PCB.

What I have learned?

The learners will demonstrate their ideas and gained knowledge on how to apply
the learning on their daily living and give some importance of PCB assembling in
building electronics products.

What I can do? (Assessment)

The learners will answer the given questions on their module.

I. Identify what is being described by the following

_____1. The process of designing the given diagram on the copper clad.
_____2. The process of removing unwanted copper in PCB.
_____3. The process of making holes in PCB.
_____4. A baseboard in which components are soldered and mounted.
_____5. A Chemical solution that removes unwanted copper in PCB.

II. Find the different tools and materials that use in assembling PCB. Mark it using
clear marker or ballpen.

B. Assimilation

 They may check their answer using the Key to Correction at the back of
their module.

III. Assemble your own PCB using the given design on the module. The tasks will
be graded according to the following criteria.
Note: Ask your parents to assists you in this activity and take a picture of
you together with your parents and put it in your portfolio.

 The learners will take pictures on their output and paste in their individual
portfolio and write their insights on the activity using the statement below.
