I. INTRODUCTION

Name of Business: FREYA

Address of Business: Block 5 Lot 7 Tacunan, Barangay Matina

Face is the crowning glory of every person because personality and status can be written
on it. It reflects who and what we are. This is the reason that most of the consumers utilize
skincare products to acquire smooth, young-looking face and nourished skin. Thus, the
entrepreneurs are proposing this skincare business named as Freya. The entrepreneurs named
their business as Freya because Freya is the Norse goddess of beauty. Hence, the products
that will be offered and marketed by the business are different variations of beauty soap and
fragrances. At the same time, all beauty soaps and fragrances that will be manufactured and
distributed by Freya are mostly come from organic, natural, and skin-friendly ingredients. Thus,
the entrepreneurs formulated the tagline “Where True Beauty is Created” because the raw
materials that are incorporated to enhance the beauty are not merely artificial in nature.
The main store and office of the business will be constructed on a vacant lot located at
Block 5 Lot 7 Tacunan, Barangay Matina Biao. The factory and warehouse of Freya will also
built five (5) kilometers behind of the main office.

Entrepreneurs
There are five (5) entrepreneurs who propose this business. They are graduates of
business-related courses and shows outstanding business and management skills and high
finance and communication proficiencies in their field. Likewise, they will lead and manage the
entire system of Freya if the mentioned business will take place. Their names and their home

Nature of Business
Freya is a manufacturer and distributor of its original and organic skincare products. It
aims to improve the beauty of every Filipino through producing and circulating beauty soaps and
fragrances that are cheaper and more effective than the ones being sold by large skincare
companies. The business offers different variation of soaps and fragrances for women under
the age bracket of sixteen (16) to fifty-five (55) years old of any social class. These women are
the primary target consumer of the business because women are more gravitated to purchase
and use skincare products for their personal consumption. Men are of the same age bracket are
also the secondary target consumer of Freya because a growing number of men are now
starting to be more conscious about looking good according to a research of U.S. Commerce
conducted in 2015. The business will then distribute the products through its retail store outlets
in different malls across the city of Davao. Moreover, to boost sales, the company will also
contact several public malls of Davao City to purchase the products of Freya in large amounts to
be sold again by them for their own profit. Lastly, Freya will also open its main store at Block 5
Lot 7 Tacunan, Barangay Matina Biao and an online shop through its Facebook page and
Twitter account.

Statement of Financing Needs

The amount needed for the company will be supplied by the six (six) major shareholders,
who are also the partners and owners of the business. Each must contribute one million pesos

buy equipment and machineries to be used for the smooth operation of the business.

5

the brand of logo on the soap. Lastly, soap saponification and Perfume Mixing Tank with
freezing filtration system will be used to purify the soap and remove all impurities in the mixture,
thus, making it clean and smooth in texture. As for the marketing strategies, Freya will be more
informative with the company’s products by placing ads through the means of the internet and
social networking sites. With this approach, the assurance in the increase of rate, productivity,
and service will be extraordinary.
To have a smooth flow of the business, the entrepreneurs of Freya will also be the
management of the company. The Financial Plan clearly shows how the company improves

6
over time in terms of its increasing net income and ability to pay its liabilities. Every year, it is to
be expected that the company will grow for 6%.

III. INDUSTRY ANALYSIS

Future Outlook and Trends
Skincare and cosmetic industry in the Philippines grow larger as they also dominate the
global market worldwide. According to the report entitled “Asia Personal Care and Cosmetic
Market Guide” (2016), the cosmetics and personal care products increased at $1.281 billion in
2015, which is 75% of the market, coming from the domestic production of these goods (see
Appendix C). It was observed that the demand for raw materials and finished products for
skincare also flourish. Local manufacturers of cosmetics and personal care products utilized
different interventions to address local and export demands. Some local products need natural
and organic ingredients such as papaya and lime, avocado, aloe vera, virgin coconut oil,
seaweeds, and alum. The demand for personal skincare and cosmetics make the consumers to
be more aware of their health.
Skincare and beauty products also dominate Davao City. In fact, the Angel Sue Marketing
that sells creams, lighteners, perfumes, and soaps boost its distribution and manufacture
outside the country. This is due to the increasing demand of skincare products globally and its
great innovations in their products. At present, Angel Sue Marketing is continuously expanding
in United States of America and Canada[ CITATION Nel16 \l 1033 ]. Moreover, Davao Region
has 17 clinics across Davao City, Tagum, and Digos. Outside Davao, there are more 50
accredited clinics that produce skincare and beauty products across Southern Philippines.

Analysis of Competitors
The proponents of this business plan found three different competitors of Freya. These
are BN Whitening Shop, Hiyang Beauty Shop, and Bioskin. These skincare shops are widely
available in different parts of Davao and offer similar products to the market.

According to a report that was published by the Allied Market Research (2016), 52% of

Distribution
Since Freya are also the manufacturer and the distributor of the products, the
proponents of this plan recommend both retailing and wholesaling strategy to enlarge its
influence and distribution to the market when Freya can expand itself and is profitable. In
retailing strategy, a store outlet would be built first inside the Gaisano Mall of Davao and then in
SM Davao City. Gaisano Mall is a strategic place to make Freya known to the consumer
because the mentioned mall holds a high volume of customers compared to the other malls as it
is the largest among forty (40) malls in Mindanao and Visayas[ CITATION Rey13 \l 1033 ]. In
addition, social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter will be utilized to reach out the
consumers that the physical store cannot able to access. In this method, the marketing will also
increase as, through electronic retailing, the business company will able to virtually display their
products to a wider range of consumers. Social media sites can now also be platforms to
advertise the product of a certain company and they serve as alternative and efficient channels
of messages between a buyer and a seller to maintain harmonious customer-buyer relationship
by clarifying ambiguous information about the products and send reviews about them
[ CITATION Aje17 \l 1033 ].
Lastly, in wholesaling methods, Freya will also coordinate with the target malls to
purchase our products in large amounts to be displayed and sold by them inside their
department stores and groceries along the skincare corner for their own profit. This process will
directly maximize the publicity of the business.

Products

1. Social Media. Forty percent (40%) of advertisement will come from social media. It has the
highest percentage in serving as channel of promotion because social media is a cost-saving
and effective method to display and advertise our products. At the same time, a lot of people
are also spending time in social media sites. Hence, this is the reason that the company will
focus more on advertising through social media. The Sales Core Team will create and lead
the Facebook Page and Twitter Account of the company. The page and account will show all
the products and their prices and the company's business information and contact details.
2. Newspaper Advertising. The company will also promote the business through newspaper
prints as its second focus. The Sales Core Team will also produce 5 inches by 7 inches
pamphlet of the company. Likewise, it will present the products and their prices and the
company's business information and contact details. It has the second highest of usage
advertising channel percentage (35%) because newsprint maintains its dominant influence to
the public. The Sales Core Team will also coordinate with the Davao SunStar News
Publishing Company to purchase a place of the company's pamphlet on their newspaper.
Freya selected Davao SunStar since it is the local newspaper of Davao and offers less
expenses of publishing our advertisement compared to the mainstream newsprint company.
According to the website of Sunstar (2018) in Davao, the cost of their advertising on
newspaper is Php. 7 per inch.
3. Flyers and Brochures. Eventhough flyers and brochures seem to be outdated, they still
capture the attention of the consumers and send out the right message to the public. With

23
this method, it allows the public know the company in creative way and share business
information to those who may not notice before.

VIII. MANAGEMENT TEAM

A strong indicator of long-term success is the capacity of the management team. Thus, the
company formed a team composed of various professionals in their own area of expertise who
are shaped with excellence, values, and character.
