Official Designation: Guidance Counselor 1
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

a. Plans and implements an effective School Guidance and Counseling Program (pls. see
attached Guidance and Counseling Program for a better understanding of the different
guidance services; please be informed that 80% of a counselor’s time is intended for
counseling, carried out thru individual or group counseling; the remaining 20% is divided to
other functions, as mandated by ACA and PGCA, the official governing bodies of Professional
Guidance and Counseling Associations of the Philippines)*.
b. Provides counseling to members of the Faculty and Staff when needed (subject to referral
from the School head, Co-Faculty member and staff, parents or students, with the approval of
the referred party)
c. Acts as member of the enrolment committee during enrolment and other school programs and
activities, as deemed necessary by the activity proponent and/or the School Head.
d. Releases Good Moral Character Certificates for Grade 10 students.
e. Reports to the Division Guidance Coordinator In-Charge for other Guidance and Counseling
functions, e.g., Attending and participating in meetings and seminars, assisting in sensitive and
matter-of-life-and-death counseling-related cases in other schools without a licensed guidance
counselor who could attend to such problems.
f. Other related functions and duties which the School Head may assign.

***3 most important things I have done for MNHS:

1. Remained loyal to my job and profession as a Guidance Counselor by carrying out my duties and
functions effectively.
2. Has shown utmost respect to my co-employees (teaching and non-teaching), students, parents and
other stake holders.
3. Has remained blissful and calm despite some imperfections and problems encountered at work.

***Problems encountered at work and recommended solutions:

Problem with the School Head – She was the first School Head I got the chance to work with at
MNHS. As a person she was nice and kind to everyone, but sadly she didn’t have a backbone in
terms of decision making, planning and implementation. She could not decide for herself, thus she
needed the opinion of those people around her, who, sad to say again, were so biased with their
opinions. And because of that, she encountered a lot of adversities during her term, which I believe
she was unmindful of.

I just hope that all those problems wouldn’t have its second chance.

***Expectations from Mr. Reynaldo P. Lopez as the new School Head of MNHs:

I pray that he would be the exact opposite of his predecessor in terms of manning the school.
