Workflow Management
1. All staff working at the Isolation Ward or in any Isolation Ward Setting must have
undergone strict training and evaluation on the following:
a. Infection Prevention and Control
i. Proper PPE usage including Donning and Doffing
ii. Isolation Precaution Coding
iii. Disinfection and Waste Management
iv. Proper Hand Hygiene
b. Basic Life Support Training
c. For Nursing Staff
i. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training
ii. Intravenous Therapy Training
iii. Basic Ventilator Set up and Operation
iv. Psychiatric Self-Assessment Training
2. All training and evaluation shall have documented evidence and such evidence shall be
stored on file, copies of which shall be attached to the individual staff’s file.
3. Training shall be reviewed and evaluated every 6 months. Training materials and
information shall be reviewed on a yearly basis.

Decontamination
1. All staff serving in isolation wards shall be live in isolation accommodation following
World Health Organization Interim Guidelines for Considerations for Quarantine of
Individuals in the Context of Containment for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) (Annex 2).
2. All staff working in Isolation ward or Isolation Ward Setting shall be provided regular
meals by the Dietary Department Staff.
a. Considerations regarding nutrition, religion, and variety shall included in the
preparation of meals for staff working in Isolation ward or Isolation ward setting.
b. Menu plans shall be communicated to staff working in Isolation wards via
electronic means.
c. Daily rations of Vitamin C shall be included in the daily meals of the staff.
3. Each staff assigned to the Isolation Ward shall be issued a health monitoring card.
Parameters monitored in the card include Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, Body
Temperature, Body Weight, and O2 Saturation.
a. The monitoring card shall also monitor the presence of symptoms associated
with COVID-19 such as Cough, Colds, Diarrhea, Headache, Difficulty of Breathing,
Sore Throat, Body Malaise, and Loss of Appetite.
4. The monitoring and recording of the health status of all staff in isolation ward duty shall
be made regularly. The Isolation Unit team leader shall certify staff members’ fitness to
work every shift. Any staff deemed by the team leader not fit for duty shall be referred
to the Resident Physician on duty for further evaluation. The Isolation Team Leader shall
inform the Safety Officer of the assessments made to any staff on Isolation ward duty.
a. The World Health Organization Interim Guidelines for Risk Assessment and
Management of Exposure of Health Care Workers in the context of COVID-19
shall be used as a guide in the monitoring and assessment of staff working in
Isolation Room setting. (Annex 3)
b. Any staff showing any symptoms associated with COVID-19 such as Fever,
Cough, Colds, or Sore Throat, and Diarrhea shall immediately be isolated in
accordance with WHO Interim Guidelines for Risk Assessment and Management
of Exposure of Health Care Workers in the context of COVID-19 as well as WHO
Interim Guidelines for Home Care of Patients with COVID-19 presenting with
Mild Symptoms. (Annex 4)
c. Special considerations regarding the mental health of staff working in isolation
ward setting shall be made. Access to entertainment and internet shall be made
available to off duty staff.
5. All Staff working in Isolation Ward Setting shall be tested for SARS-CoV2 and isolated for
14 days prior to being allowed to go home after isolation ward duty. Isolation of staff
shall be in accordance with World Health Organization Interim Guidelines for
Considerations for Quarantine of Individuals in the Context of Containment for
Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) (Annex 2).
