CHAPTER : 3 The Lost Laugh Back Exercise with Answer

SUMMARY
- Michelle Preen

Hyena is sad because he has lost his laugh. He goes around the jungle looking for
his lost laugh. He goes to Giraffe and asks her to search for his laugh. Giraffe uses
her long neck to look around the tops of the trees, but she can’t find Hyena’s laugh.
So, Hyena goes to Hippo. Hippo looks for Hyena’s laugh in the water, but he can’t
find it there. So, Hyena goes to Elephant and asks him if he can hear his laugh
anywhere in the jungle. Elephant listens carefully with his big ears, but he can’t find
the laugh.

So, Hyena goes to Monkey. Monkey asks Hyena how he lost his laugh. Hyena tells
Monkey that when he laughed, his big teeth showed. He thinks that his big teeth
scare other animals. So he became sad, and lost his laugh. Monkey tells Hyena
that he has been looking for it in the wrong places. He knows that the laugh is inside
Hyena only; it just has to come out again. So Monkey takes a feather and starts
tickling Hyena. Hyena smiles. Soon, he forgets about his teeth and laughs loudly.
All the animals in the jungle hear his laugh and come to see him. They become
happy to see Hyena happy again. So they all laugh together.

In this story, Hyena is sad because he thinks he has big, scary teeth. But through
the story, we get to know that it doesn’t matter how big or small our teeth are. We all
look beautiful when we are happy. When we laugh, it’s our happiness that shows
and makes our friends happy.
