About the College
The SDM College of Engineering and Technology,
Dharwad is one of the top quality Institutions in India.
Since its inception in 1979, the Institute has
established itself as a centre of high repute engaged in
imparting quality education and providing support to
research and developmental activities. The Institution
is recognized by AICTE, affiliated to VTU Belagavi,
beneficiary of TEQIP Phase II program of World
Bank, NIRF ranking 2020 in the band of 200-250,
accredited thrice by NBA besides having academic
autonomy. The Institution offers under graduate
programs in 7 disciplines and 6 post graduate
programs across the departments and an MBA
programme. All the departments have been recognized
as research centres by VTU, Belagavi. The Institution
has a proven track of placement records with around
50 companies every year, visiting the campus. During
the academic year 2019-20, 69 companies visited the
campus, has 437 offers with average package of 4.31
lacks per annum and highest package of 12.75 lacks
per annum.
The Institute has adequate separate hostel facilities for
both boys and girls. A common dining and recreation
facility is available for all hostel inmates. The
Institution also has other amenities like playground,
Gymnasium, a Central Library, Post office, Bank,
Health care centre, Fast food, Co-operative society,
Canteen, ATM and Alumni Block with guest rooms
etc. There are several clubs for extracurricular
activities namely music, adventure, etc.
SDMCET has campus wide network spanning the
entire campus- academic buildings, student hostels
and campus residences. Each department has its own
LAN connected to this network. The LANs have
adequate number of computers to cater to the needs of
the department. The Institute has 24×7 Internet
connectivity. There is a Common Computing Facility
(CCF) in the college besides the departmental
computing facilities. The present bandwidth is 150
Mbps.
The library of the Institute functions round the clock.
The library caters to the needs of UG, PG, research
scholars and faculty members of all the departments.
There are more than 60000 books, 1200 journals /
periodicals (Print and Online) including those from
ASCE, ASME, IEEE, Springer link and McGraw Hill
publishers.
About the Department
The Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering has been established in the year 1980. A
full time M. Tech. programme started in the year
1992. The Department is recognized as the Research
Centre by VTU, Belagavi in the year 2002. The
Department achieved autonomous status in the year
2007, thus exhibiting its major progresses decade
after decade. The present intake for UG is 120 and
for PG 18.With the vision of Fostering excellence in
the field of ECE, we provide quality education
through the state-of-the-art curriculum,
effective teaching learning process, encourage
innovation, research culture and team spirit among
students. The UG programme has been accredited
thrice and PG program has been accredited twice by
National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.
There are 28 well qualified faculty with rich
experience, out of them there are 12 Doctorates in the
frontline areas of Signal Processing, Communication
systems, VLSI Design and Embedded Systems and 9
are pursuing Ph.D. There are two ongoing VGST
KFIST L1 R&D funded projects of worth Rs. 20 lakh
each. The laboratories and class rooms are well
equipped with sophisticated facilities. Many of our
alumni are holding key positions in private and public
sector organizations, R&D organizations. Our alumni
are also successful entrepreneurs. With no
complacency, we strive hard to achieve greater laurels
in the years to come.
Objective of FDP
FDP will have technical talks by eminent personalities
from reputed Research organization / Institutions /
Industries on the theme of FDP. The FDP is intended
create a platform for researchers and PG students, UG
students to gain knowledge in the field of signal
processing.
