Nagpur is a well planned city with an excellent quality lifestyle.

It is also recognized as the second


greenest city in the country. Well connected by Air, Road and Railway network with large parts of the
country it is at equal distance from all Metros in India and is halfway between Europe & South East Asia
air distances, hence being an obvious choice as the Logistic Nucleus of India. 

About 47% of Maharashtra state's power is generated around Nagpur and one of the largest Industrial
Estates (approx. 6000 hectares) of Asia is located at Butibori near Nagpur. It boasts of huge natural
resources including minerals, agri-produce which can be good raw material for various industries. 

Nagpur is a hub for education and health-related services for the population residing within a radius of
500 km, including adjoining states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. With the
announcement of recent Ecotourism Policy by Maharashtra, tourism around Nagpur will be benefited as
Nagpur is surrounded by vast tracts of forests with ample wildlife and is the Tiger Capital of the country. 

The 'R.K. Swamy's -BBDO Guide to Urban Markets, 2005' has ranked Nagpur as the 10th richest city in
the country. 

An International Airport along with development of ambitious MIHAN project and Multi Product SEZ with
likely investment of about Rupees fifty thousand crores will be major drivers for economic growth. It is the
only SEZ in the Country, with an International Airport within  

Urban Infrastructure 
Maharashtra (42.4%) ranks 2nd in terms of urbanization in India as compared to all other States.
However, in absolute terms Maharashtra ranks 1st with 41 million persons residing in urban areas. The
increase has been a significant 38.7% since 1991.

It is expected that this figure will be 46.2% by 2011. Nagpur is the winter capital of Maharashtra and is rapidly
developing as central India's Metro city. 

With the increase in population, propelled by manufacturing and service industries in and around Nagpur, there is a
huge demand for urban infrastructure in the city including Housing, Shopping Malls, roads, Public transport, Storm
water drains, Sewerage, Commercial and Social infrastructure. 

RecentDevelopments 

The Gurgaon-based Radisson Group has already started work to set up a five-star hotel with over 200
rooms. Mumbai-based Fariyas Group, having premium properties in Mumbai and Lonavala, have
acquired lands, to set up a 200-room five-star hotel in Nagpur

Some of the other hospitality majors such as The Kamat Group of the Orchid chain of hotels, the Sun and
Sand Group, Hyatt & Leela have purchased land and plan to begin work soon. Taj Group is also coming
up with a hotel in the much-touted Empress City.

The mega project of Sahara India Pariwar, Sahara City Homes, is in progress. Entire project would be
ready till 2011. The city spreads over 106 acres and will have facilities like schools, parks, swimming pool,
sports stadium and other basic amenities.

SEZ 
Air Cargo Hub and SEZ Project in Nagpur i.e. Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN)
have a likely Investment of USD - 1.2 Billion. Spread over 1475 hectares, it is one of the largest multi
product SEZs in the country. 

The SEZ will be supported by World-class Infrastructure facilities & supporting services, like the rail &
road termi ..
