Set sail from Seville,

September 20, 1519

Magellan set sail from


Spain

April 2, 1520

A mutiny broke-out in two of


the five ships on April 2, 1520
while at Puerto San Julian.

November 1, 1520

The ships started navigating the long canal


that Magellan named “Estrecho de Todos
Los Santos.” The strait is now named
“Strait of Magellan.”

March 15, 1521

The Philippines Island was sighted.


Magellan reached the Island of
Homonhon together with the remaining
150 members of his fleet.

March 31, 1521

First Mass of Limasawa which happened to


be Easter Sunday Magellan ordered the
Captain to preside a mass by the shore.
April 17, 1521

Magellan and his men


reached the port of
Cebu.

April 27, 1521

Magellan died in the


island of Mactan,
Philippines.

September 6, 1522

Three years after they

departed, ship Victoria

returned home to Spain with

only 18 crew members.
