When, for any reason, the reduction of clearance cannot be measured
| during mounting, use the values of axial displacement of the inner ring
| relative to the taper shown in table 57-1. The starting point of the displace-
ment measurement is the position of the bearing in which the inner ring
makes good all round contact with the tapered seating. With the bearing in
this position, measure the distance to a reference face on the roll neck, e.9.
