TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

1. INTRODUCTION OF GATEWAY DIAL-112

DIAL-112 is a device that redirects voice telephone calls over the GSM network allowing a
significant reduction in the cost of calls to mobile telephones by, for example, negotiating corporate
contracts. DIAL-112 gateway is available with 1 or 2 GSM modules (1-2 SIM). In this manual, will
be described the 2 GSM modules version. Users of the 1 GSM module version will not be able to
use the features available on the second GSM line.

The unit has a NT port for ISDN attach and double GSM module. Using DIAL-112 as the default
output interface for all calls directed to one or more telephone prefixes selected by internal
exchange (or mobile network prefixes) is obtained to address to the GSM network all the calls
coming by the two channels of the fixed line directed to mobile phones: DIAL-112 uses the GSM
modules to contact the user of mobile network and connect it inside the caller internal extension of
PBX. This will exploit the greater convenience of GSM network than fixed calls to mobiles.

If the PBX is provided with advanced routing functionality (LCR - Least Cost Routing) it is possible
to configure the relevant table (ARS - Automatic Route Select table) in a way that DIAL-112 is
chosen as the default output line for calls directed to one or more mobile GSM numbers,
depending on their prefixes. If the PBX has no LCR function, a dial code for the DIAL-112
connection can be prefixed to the telephone number normally called, so as to use DIAL-112 as an
outbound gateway. If the PBX has not a free S0 attack or the PBX itself does not provide the LCR
service, it is possible to use the DIAL-112S version, which can be connected in Drop Insert
between the PBX and the ISDN network. Moreover, DIAL-112 has an internal LCR mechanism that
allows the selection of the GSM module to use depending on the prefix of the called number.

For incoming calls, i.e. for calls to the SIM number of the built-in GSM module, DIAL-101A redials
the calls downstream the PBX, forwarding the caller identity (CLI). It is also possible to use
advanced features for calling management as the Smart callback function: in the case of an
internal PBX’s extension has placed a call attempt failed to a mobile phone, any request by the
called mobile phone will be transferred automatically from DIAL-112 into the PBX, and then directly
to the person who had originated the first call.

The unit connects directly to an ISDN BRI free PBX’s urban line attack (ISDN BRI T0). It can also
be used in processes where there is no access to the public telephone network (i.e. sites and
places decentralized). Calls to the GSM network does not pass from the basis of the fixed network,
thus leaving these possible resources always available for any incoming calls to the company. In
fact it is like to add two more lines in the PBX, used, for example, only to dial GSM network
numbers.

DIAL-112 can perform additional functions as two alarm contacts inputs: it is possible to be notified
via SMS (customizable) after alarm activation.

DIAL-112 is easy to install and connects to the programming PC via an USB port. For the
programming is not necessary to install any software, just a normal terminal emulation software
(such as HyperTerminal™ for Windows®), and its installation is very simple and quick and requires
no special knowledge.

DIAL-112 can also be programmed with DTMF tones, locally reaching the ISDN attack of PBX or
remotely via GSM.

6. INSTALLATION AND DIAGNOSTICS

DIAL-112 has two GSM modules that require 2 SIM cards from the telephone operators to work.
The procedure for registering the SIM card on the wireless network when the device is turned on is
automatic and identical to that of a normal GSM telephone. The system does not contains any
accessible part from the user, all the connections are made from the system’s front/rear panels.

6.1. Installation of the DIAL-112 unit

In addition to resting on table, a desktop or shelf, the DIAL-112 unit can be wall-mounted, using the
appropriate slots located on its rear panel.

To do that proceed as follows:

• Attach the DIAL-112 to the wall, with the antennas connectors facing upwards
• Manually screw the antennas connectors (do not use a wrench)
• Connect the ISDN cable from the “TE-Pbx” port to the ISDN port of your PBX (or to a self-
powered ISDN phone)
• Only for DIAL-112S version, connect the “Sync-NT” port to the ISDN BRI network
• For each GSM module, insert the SIM card

To insert the SIM card into DIAL-112, use a small screwdriver or pen point to press the
centre of the yellow button on the front slot with the SIM holder. Remove the holder and
insert the SIM with the gold contacts facing upwards. Note that there is only one correct
way to place the SIM in the holder. Now, carefully align the holder in the slot and insert it
until it stops in its operating position.

Note
To avoid damaging DIAL-112 or the SIM card, make sure the unit is disconnected from its
power supply before inserting or removing the SIM card.

Important tips for proper operation

We recommend disabling the PIN code request, voice mail, all call diversions (such as
when busy, absent or not available) and call notifications on the SIM card before inserting
the SIM in the DIAL-112, using a normal GSM device with keypad.

• Connect the cord of the provided power supply.

6.2. Connection modes

ISDN is a digital system in which communications between various devices must be synchronized
with a common clock. Some PBX (including Alcatel, Ericsson, Philips, Selta, Siemens) can not
tolerate a lack of synchronization between different TE ports.

If you use a PBX with these characteristics is necessary to connect an output of NT at "Sync-NT"
input of DIAL-112 in order to keep the DIAL-112 clock synchronized with other present devices on
NT ports. To connect, use a cable with only 2 connection wires inside (only the RX to the device).

If you are using the DIAL-112S version, connect the ISDN network to the "Sync-NT" input using a
complete 4-wire standard ISDN cable.

In the diagrams on the following pages are presented several solutions for connecting where are
highlighted the connections and the possible source of signal synchronization.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 9 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

For the sole purpose of synchronization, DIAL-112 must be connected to a normal NT port, in
order to receive the same clock that the NT port sends to the PBX and on which the PBX
synchronizes (showed in the images with a dotted line).

Connecting device as NT (Terminal) and synchronization from NT port

This method of connection requires that DIAL-112 is related to an external ISDN line (ISDN port
TE) of the PBX: in other words, DIAL-112 has the same role of a new NT port. From the
perspective of the PBX, there is no difference between the external lines available, and between
one or more BRI lines existing and the new BRI attack system offered by the DIAL-112 that goes to
be installed.

From the "Sync-NT" connector, DIAL-112 is limited to receive the clock synchronism therefore
does not affect in any way traffic between the NT and the PBX. Please note that the ISDN system
provides the Point-Point and Point-Multipoint variants. To function properly, DIAL-112 must be
configured in the same way as the TE port of the PBX connected to it, and set appropriate fields on
the form PTMP PTP in the “General Parameters” mask of the configuration of the device.

Note 1: If there are multiple ports in the installation, use the sync one of the existing ones that is
configured as Point-to-point, in order of priority from the following:

1. derive synchronization from a port with Point-to-point setup, on which the disabling of level 1 of
the Protocol ISDN does not happen;
2. derive synchronization from a port with Point-to-point setup, configuring the PBX maintaining
always-on the level 1 on this line;
3. If no described above link type is available, obtain the synchronization from the port that made
the most traffic. This will reduce the chance that the port turns off wasting synchronization while
other lines (and their ports) are active.

Note 2: If more DIAL-112 are connected to the PBX, make sure that all are synchronized to the
same NT port or S0 bus of the plant. If the customer has NT port (for example, has a PRI) and no
S0 free output to use any of DIAL-112 to synchronize the others (take in parallel the central wires
of the TE-Pbx port of the first device and connect them to the Sync-NT port of the others).

6.3. Operational and diagnostic indicators

When DIAL-112 is correctly connected and powered, the LEDs signal the status of the system in a
simple, effective manner. For each GSM section, the yellow LED “GSM” has diagnostic purposes,
and the way it blinks depends on the GSM engine onboard (see next page for details). The built-in
modules now will registrate itself to the GSM network.

6.4. Diagnostics LEDs

On power-up, the two red LEDs “On” flashes quickly for a while: it means that the device is booting
correctly. After this short time the flash will slow down and, after the correct machine boot, the two
LEDs will flash slowly every 3 seconds (stand-by status of the lines).
The use of the telephone line will be indicated by a faster flashing of the red LED; the flashing is
quicker during the call and, during the conversation the red LED remains lit. At the end of the call,
the flashing will slow down.
The two yellow LEDs are used to monitor the status of the GSM modules. During the registration
phase or in case of absence of SIM card, the yellow LED remains lit. After the correct registration
to the GSM network, the yellow LEDs will flash slowly. During a call, the yellow LED will flash
quickly.

The gateway is ready to be used when connected to the ISDN line and when the registration to
GSM network has been made. Make an incoming and an outgoing call to check communications in
both ways.

In summary, meaning of the LED "Line" (red):

Slow flashing Line in stand-by status, no active calls

Double slow flashing Line in stand-by status (only DIAL-112S version)
Quick flashing Taking a line from the PBX, the device expects the numbers to make
the call
Very quick flashing Call in progress, waiting the reply by the called number
Lit Conversation in progress
4 very quick flashing One of the SIM has exhausted the credit and the system has blocked
the ISDN line so there are not allowed more outgoing calls

Meaning of the LED “GSM” (yellow):

Slow flashing Stand-by status of the line, SIM correctly registered and no ongoing
conversation
Quick flashing Call or conversation in progress
Lit SIM not inserted or not yet registered

6.5. PC connection

The following describes the phase of preparation to program the system. First, once powered on
the system and connected via the USB cable (included) that comes with a free USB PC port,
Windows® asks if you want to download the latest drivers for the new device detected (in the
following pages and figures will be next steps Installation on Windows® XP®, regarding Windows®
2000 the process is very similar):

At the request for access to Windows® Update, select "No, not this time" and press "Next" to
continue.

Choose to install from a list or specific location and press "Next".

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 13 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

Make sure you have inserted the supplied CD in the CD-ROM reader of your PC, set the option
"Search removable media” and click "Next". Windows® will find a suitable driver to install:

Pressing "Finish", you will be prompted to install the driver for the virtual serial port:

This phase is simpler because just leave selected "Install the software automatically". Press "Next"
and finish the installation.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 14 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

Now, a virtual serial port has been added to your system. Since the device is not equipped of a
video or a keyboard, for programming is necessary to connect to the new COM port a terminal
ANSI emulator set at 115,200 BPS. There are many programs on the market that allow such
operations. The following describes how to configure the terminal emulation program called
HyperTerminal™, provided as part of default in all versions of Windows® from Windows 95® (but no
longer supplied with Windows Vista®).

To configure the program to our purpose, select from the toolbar, the voice HyperTerminal™ from
accessories menu.

The next screen asks you to create a new connection, similar to the following:

In the Name field, type the identification of the connection, for example DIAL-112, and confirm with
<enter>. It might be asked to configure the modem, in this case no answer.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 15 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

Finally, the program asks you to configure your connection. In the "Connect" click "directly to
COM1" (or COM2, 3 ..., depending on the virtual serial port driver installed on your PC).

Confirming with OK, is now being asked to configure the port:

Select “None” in the "Flow control" (speed – Bits per second is not important):

If everything was done correctly, confirming by the OK button and pressing <enter>/<esc> few
times, then the main form of DIAL-112 will appear. If the mask appears to be confused, because of
used characters of program's emulation, please choose the option "Character" from "View" menu:

From the selection mask choose the font type "Terminal" and size 9 or 12 (a small font generates a
small mask on screen, a large font will be readable but on weak screen resolutions the mask may
not be fully displayed on the screen).

Now the program is ready for use. Closing HyperTerminal™ is required to save the connection:
answering "Yes", the subsequent opening of the program simply makes the connection that was
previously saved to connect again. See below, in Chapter 8 for details related to programming from
the PC.

7. SERVICES

7.1. Outbound call gateway

In its basic function, through the urban attack of the PBX connected to DIAL-112, you make
outgoing calls using built-in GSM modules by transforming a call from fixed line to a GSM one. The
service must be explicitly enabled by the "Enable outgoing calls" in the mask of programming
(active by default).

Lifting the handset of the connected ISDN device or engaging DIAL-112 through the PBX, you
heard the DIAL-112 invitation tone to select. Then, type the phone number to call within the
configurable time to select (field mask programming "Interdigits", default 6 sec.).

DIAL-112 must gather all the digits of the number to call before making the call itself through its
internal GSM module (as it does with a normal GSM phone) using a configurable timeout
("Interdigits", default 6 sec.). So, after the last digit in the composed number, it must pass this
timeout before the call will be generated to the GSM network.

DIAL-112, however, send the call without waiting time for interdigit after receiving a number of
digits (the area of mask programming "Max digits", default 10), unless the number is not preceded
by the international prefix 00, in which case the device always waits for the expiry interdigit time
before making the call (since it can not know the actual length of the number to call). It is possible
to speed up the call of numbers consist of fewer digits simply by pressing the “#” (pound) at the
end of the number to call, to tell DIAL-112 to proceed immediately to connect to GSM network.

While sends the call to the GSM network, DIAL-112 may send the caller a special multitone
reporting to indicate to user that the call is being generated. The user can verify, for each call, the
actual use of DIAL-112 for calls planned. This service is subject to the parameter "Ringing tone": If
you do not want this alert, you can disable it in the form of programming.

After sending the call, DIAL-112 connects your phone to allow the caller to hear reports on the
progress of the call itself (free, busy, etc.).

It is possible to hide the identity of the SIM, simply activating the appropriate field ("Hide CLIP");
see 8.1 later in the manual. This approach is effective for all calls. Wanting to choose whether or
not to mask the identity of the SIM per-call basis, regardless of the programming of the system, the
GSM network allows the sending of force or masking the CLI using special codes from universal
add to the number called. The codes are:

CLI FORCED FORWARDING *31# + NUMBER TO BE CALLED

CLI FORCED HIDING #31# + NUMBER TO BE CALLED

To keep the GSM modules always available to make outgoing calls, it is possible to block any
incoming call: DIAL-112 will refuse any incoming call without answering.

If the PBX is equipped with advanced routing (LCR - Least Cost Routing), you can configure the
table (ARS - Automatic Route Select) so that DIAL-112 is used as a general default output for
direct phone calls from internal PBX phones to one or more mobile telephone line prefixes.

If the PBX does not have the LCR function, you can set a code selection where the DIAL-112 ISDN
attack is linked, before the phone number every time you want to use DIAL-112 as an output
gateway. See the documentation of your PBX for more information on these advanced features.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 17 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

It is also possible to activate the "Prepaid Traffic” service. In this mode, the system takes no
account of the real credit on the SIM Card (service not offered in a simple and uniform way by the
GSM operators), but count the minutes for outgoing calls (taking advantage of any promotions or
contracts providing for a certain number of free minutes to all or particular numbers).

7.2. Inbound call gateway

In its basic function DIAL-112, when receives a direct call to internal GSM module, diverts the call
to the PBX ISDN line; if you receive the caller identification it will be send by DIAL-112 to PBX so it
can appear on the phone display. After the answer, the caller and the called are in communication.
There is no timeout for incoming calls. Optionally, you can activate the DISA service (similar
service found in many PBX): the system does not immediately forward a call to the PBX, but
responds and sends a selection tone to the caller, which can type an extension number via DTMF.

Setting the correct box, it is possible to ignore all incoming calls (the internal GSM module rejects
it). The function is useful for maintaining the system always available for outgoing calls.
Note: This setup has the disadvantage of preventing the system programming by remote call.

7.3. Table of numbers and prefixes

It is possible to enter numbers or area codes or part numbers in a table so that DIAL-112 make
direct calls to those numbers only (see par. 8.3). Any other number will be blocked. If the table is
left empty, it is ignored. Numbers or prefixes in this table are at most 150.

7.3.1. Outgoing calls

It is possible to enter numbers or area codes or part numbers in a table so that DIAL-112 does not
make direct calls to those numbers (see par. 8.3). For example, inserting the value "06" will inhibit
all calls to fixed networks in Rome, entering "02615441" will inhibit direct calls to this complete
number. Entering "144" will be blocked the calls to the italian paying service centers. It is useful for
blocking calls to fixed network (not cheap by using GSM network) or unwanted, when the PBX
does not have the ARS service or to DIAL-112 is connected only a telephone. Enter a specific
prefix, such as "345" and tick the field "Deny", all the numbers that begins with these digits cannot
be called. Introducing the table with the number "3451234567" and tick the field "Allow" will be
done the call to and only to this number, despite the presence of the prefix blocked. So the rule is
that the number allowed take priority over those defined as being denied.

7.3.2. Incoming calls

Similarly as for outgoing calls, the tables fields can be compiled for incoming calls to block or allow
the reception of calls from particular numbers or area codes (see par. 8.3). This function is useful
to discriminate calls from certain geographical areas in the case of numbers from a landline. Very
useful in case of a company with outside staff that constantly moving himselfs that often need to
contact the company. In this situation these phone numbers (added to the table with the field
"Allow" enabled), can call the company, while other generic callers or that do not show the CLI will
be rejected automatically by the system. This creates a kind of preferential channels which
provides a high availability to authorized callers only.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 18 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

7.3.3. Criteria for the use of the SIM cards inserted in the GSM modules

Automatically, call by call, DIAL-112 can decide which one of the two GSM modules must use. The
choice can be made with one of the following ways: The first free module, through LCR (controls
the first digit of the dialed number and according to them decide which way the call is routed),
alternating, in an equitable manner but the calls duration (allows to distribute traffic to the two GSM
operators or two SIM) through channel B (B1 is sent on GSM module No.1 and B2 on GSM
module No.2; in this configuration, incoming calls also will be presented on the same ISDN
channels). However, if you activate the count prepaid minutes feature, the system will always use
the SIM with more minutes available.

For each module there are four "LCR Prefixes” fields to fill for up to four area codes that govern the
use (see par. 0). You can also enable a feature so if the module set through "LCR Prefixes” is
busy, the call can be made through the other module; set the "Use module 2 if busy" for the first
module and "Use module 1 if busy" for the second. If the dialed number is not covered by the LCR
table of any module, DIAL-112 you still use the first module to allow the call.

NOTE: in the DIAL-112S version, it is necessary to fill in the "LCR Prefixes" field, so that the
device can differentiate which calls made via the integrated GSM modules and which ones must be
sent to the existing ISDN network. For the DIAL-112S version, the method of module choice is
always "Select by LCR", regardless of how programmed in "General configuration" (see chap. 8).

7.3.4. CLI presentation service associated to the individual prefixes or numbers

Activating the option "Hide CLIP" in the GSM parameters, the system hides the CLI for all the
outgoing calls to the called number. It is possible, however, in cases where it becomes necessary,
to force the sending of CLI to certain area codes or even to individual numbers of users, selecting
the appropriate field in the table. For example, this is a useful function to facilitate the activities of
users that uses corporate RAM. Those particular users (and only them) that gets the CLI will know
that someone in the company is calling them or tried to reach them. This feature in conjunction with
the "Smart callback" service later described, makes DIAL-112 essential for this type of application.

7.4. DISA service

7.4.1. DISA service as general setting

It is possible to configure the DISA service in the General Parameters so that goes for the whole
system. With the DISA service enabled, will be offered to the incoming calls an inviting tone so the
caller can select the extension that want to achieve.

7.4.2. DISA service associated to the individual prefixes or numbers

Otherwise it is possible to configure this service in a specific manner on a user by user basis. For
example it is possible to deny the DISA service to the general level, but enable it only for some
special calling number (or prefixes). This service has lower priority than the general DISA and
higher priority than the DISA service’s direct association with the number to call.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 19 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

7.4.3. Automatic routing service

Finally, you can instruct the system to make sure that when is received a call from a specific
number, it is forwarded to the internal extension shown in this field. For example, entering the
phone number of a commercial agent of the company, to each and every call, DIAL-112 recognize
the number and automatically forwards directly to the number of its reference person in the
company. It is often useful to associate the numbers of customers into the company's internal staff
that will give them assistance. The PO does not receive the call so he must not forward the call to
the person or group of reference work. Using the automatic routing in this way, if the extension
number to contact is busy, the external call is hunged up, without charge of costs to the caller.

7.5. Smart callback service

Making an outgoing call through DIAL-112, the called user becomes aware of the number of SIM
inserted in the used GSM module (if you have not enabled the option "Hide caller"). This could be
useful because, in the case of missed call, the called user might want to recall later.

Normally DIAL-112 in its basic configuration, forward this recall to the PO as any generic call. The
smart callback service (see par.0) of DIAL-112 instead optimizes the management of callbacks,
sending each of them to the extension that had tried to call that user. In detail, DIAL-112
automatically performs these steps:

• When from the PBX is making a call to a GSM module and it does not answer, DIAL-112 stores
in its own large callback table the association between internal number caller and called.
• When a module receives a call from the GSM network, DIAL-112 verify if the caller is present in
this particular table: in this case consider it a callback call, not forward to the PO, but within
previously written in the table. Immediately after DIAL-112 removes this information from the
table. Thus, subsequent calls from the same number will not be forwarded to a specific
extension.
• The data in the table are still removed after 12 hours or after filling the table.

For the correct functioning of Smart callback is necessary that the PBX is properly set to send to
DIAL-112 the number of the caller and accept from DIAL-112 an internal extension call, all coded
according to the ISDN standard.

This service is very useful to prevent that the PO receives calls from people unsuccessfully
contacted by a number of the company (one of the numbers presented by SIM DIAL-112) and
recall without knowing the actual internal source of the call: the PO may not have enough
information to properly do the call of its kind, not necessarily aware of the call attempt went
unsuccessfully. The system can avoid this type of situation with the service described above.

7.6. SMS callback service

The service is similar to the Smart callback. When a user does not answer or is busy, you can
send a predefined message to this number (max 36 characters). If the PBX provides the number of
the internal extension caller, it is placed in the bottom of the message (are taken the last n digits of
the outgoing number, depending on the parameter "PBX digits len"). The message could then be
like "recontact TEMA" or "recontact TEMA at the number 123".

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 20 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

7.7. Callback for the incoming calls

This service is appliable for the incoming calls from the network. When the calling number is into
the “Prefix and number” table and the CB flag is enabled (see 8.3) then, when the call hangs up
before the 3rd ringback, the system immediately calls back and let him use all the servicse he’s
enabled to. But if he doesn’t hang up, the system will treat the call as a normal incoming call.
This service is usefull to charge the cost of the call to the gateway SIM instead of the caller SIM.

7.8. Alarm contact dialer

The service allows you to send an SMS to one or two GSM numbers as a result of activation of the
contacts for alarms to alert management staff. If the alarm contact is reseted (reopen and closing),
will start another alert.

7.9. Relay contacts remotely operated

DIAL-112 has two integrated relays that can be used for electric drives (see par. 0)

7.10. Module access for local programming via DTMF

It is possible to program the parameters using the line of DIAL-112 through the PBX trunk
interface. See section 10.1 for the procedure.

7.11. Module access for remote programming via GSM

Call the number of the SIM card inserted in DIAL-112, wait for someone to answer on the
downstream line and in the first 30 seconds of conversation dial ### (3 pound) + programming
password (default is 1111, can be modified by the user, see paragraph 0).

8. PC PROGRAMMING

This is the main form of the program which is accessed just made the connection to the PC and
the terminal via USB.

To choose any function of the program, simply press the letter that appears on the left menu (for
example, "C" for general configuration, "L" to change language, and so on).

In any function you are, unless noted otherwise, it is possible to return to the previous menu by
pressing ESC. If you've made changes, the program will ask if you intend to save.

The two top boxes represent the state of the two GSM modules. When the modules are properly
registered, they mention the name of the operator and the antenna's signal.

In the central panel there is the state of the two ISDN channels (stand-by, calling, etc.).

8.1. General configuration

In general configuration is set the mode of operation of the system.

ISDN
• ISDN PTP/PTMP: establishes the connection mode of the device at the T0 port of the PBX,
point-point or point-to-multipoint. If possible, is better to set the port in the point to point mode
(the device is always TEI 0)
PLANT/DISA
• PBX digits len: sets the number of digits of the extensions of the PBX. When the system
provides the DISA service to incoming calls, it represents the number of digits that the caller
must dial so the call can be transferred to an internal extension
• Enable DISA: enable or disable the DISA service to incoming calls
• Call PO after: indicates how many seconds after the incoming call should be transferred to the
PO if the caller does not select any digit
• Radix number: Some PBXs requires that the number of internal root is complete, for example to
call the 299 number needed to add to the number of internal root 261544299
MODULE CHOICE
• The first one: enabling this option, for outgoing calls, you always use the first module (first SIM)
and the second module is used if the first is busy
• Select by LCR: the module is chosen according to initial digits that make up the number (the
introduction is done by compiling digits on the table in the programming GSM modules). For
example, you may want that all numbers starting with 33 use the first module, all those that
begin with 34 use the second module
• Alternate: with this option, the choice of module is always a turn: if the previous call had been
used Module 1, now uses the Module 2, then 1 again and so on
• Time Sharing: in this mode, you can make, on average, the total duration of outgoing calls are
distributed in an equitable manner on both modules. Internally, the program takes into account
the duration of each call and always uses the module that was used for less time. It may be
useful if you use prepaid cards, so that it can not possible to run out of credit without a SIM have
almost never used another, or allows you to use the SIM in a balanced mode
• Follow ISDN-BCH: in this mode, if from the PBX arrives a call from the B-channel 1, DIAL-112
uses the GSM module 1, if the call comes from the B-channel 2, will use the GSM module 2.
Similarly happen to the incoming calls: if a call comes to the SIM Card in GSM module 1, DIAL-
112 will forward the call on the B-channel 1, if the call arrives to the SIM 2 will be forward on the
B-channel 2. Only obtainable if your PBX can manage this B-channel selection mode

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 23 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

Important: if you activate the prepaid traffic mode (par. 8.5), the choice of the GSM module will
always be made according to the traffic still available on each SIM (will always be used the SIM
card with most credit) in order to consume the credit uniformly on each SIM card.

NOTE: If you use the DIAL-112S Drop Insert version, the method of choice module is always
"Select by LCR". Even if it is selected a different method, DIAL-112S will ignore it.

CALLINGS
• Maximum digits to call: maximum number of digits that make up the numbers to call through the
GSM module. Once collected, the number of digits set, DIAL-112 will send the call without
waiting further. NOTE: If you make an international call, with the number preceded by 00, it
would certainly be longer than the number of digits set. In this case, therefore, if the program
shows that the number starts with a code, it ignores the length of number and calls always after
the timeout. You can also speed up the delivery always call simply typing the numbers ending
with "#"
• Interdigits: maximum waiting time between two consecutive digits that make up the numbers to
call through the GSM module. If that time elapses without DIAL-112 receives new digits, it
considers the number off (even without having achieved "Maximum digits to call") and send the
call to the GSM network
• Digits to erase from CLIP: receiving calls from the GSM network, DIAL-112 will forward the call
to the PBX cutting from the beginning of the calling number (CLI) the quantity of digits indicated
in this parameter. Useful for example to remove the "+" symbol at the beginning of the
international prefix, not properly managed by some PBXs
• Dial tone: choice of dial tone that DIAL-112 sends when the PBX commits one of his lines. It is
possible to choose from 0 (no tone), 1 (alternate urban type), 2 (continuous tone), 3 (alternate /
continuous)
• Smart callback: enable the function of the intelligent management of the callback. Can only
work if it is not masked the identity number for outgoing calls. We also need to configure the
parameter "PBX digits len" digits equal to the number of digits of your PBX
• Accept anonymous calls: allow or not to accept incoming calls on GSM modules that do not
have the identity of the caller
• Max time outgoing calls: allows imposing a limit on the duration of outgoing calls. Put this
parameter to 0 there are no limits to the duration of calls. If you enter a value, will be issued 3
short tones to the two parties 30 seconds before time expiry. After hearing the 3 tones, the
caller has the possibility to recharge for further 5 minutes of talk time by pressing “#” (pound) on
the ISDN phone; there are no limits on the number of times that this operation can be performed
• ECHO cancellation: generally this function is not needed. However, on some particular types of
PBX you might encounter a slight problem of echo. In this case enabling this feature eliminates
the problem
• Callback SMS /Callback SMS text: Activating this function, it is possible to do that when, on
outgoing calls, you call a phone that does not answer or is busy, the system sends a message
to that number with the text indicated. If the PBX sends the number of the caller, it is appended
to the text (the number length is determined by the parameter “PBX digits len”)
• Relay time activation (S): time in seconds of relays contacts closing, see par. 10.2.2
• National Prefix (00xxx): insert here your international prefix (ie. 0039 for Italy)
• Programming password: is the password that you enter when you log on via phone to remote
programming (entry into the programming is activated by typing “###“(3 pounds) followed by the
password)

8.2. Module configuration

In this screen you can run the GSM module configuration (PIN, number of PO, LCR, etc.), and as
you can see these parameters can be customized independently each from other.

• PIN: PIN code of the SIM card inserted in the module

• Operator: code of the network to be used for the registration of the module. If you do not put
anything in the form, DIAL-112 tries to sign up with your manager on the basis of the SIM and if
not found (for lack of coverage) is in roaming with the operator, which has the strongest signal.
In some cases it may be useful to block the possibility of roaming (i.e. for installations near the
border of the state) to ensure that the module can register with the operators not convenient in
terms of tariffs. For Italy, the operator TIM has code 22201, 22288 Wind, Vodafone 22210 and
22299 3 ITA
• PO: enter the number to be dialed to call the PO (if necessary preceded by the root if
requested by the PBX). It is the number that is composed for incoming calls from the GSM.
Some PBXs, when they receive a call from T0 ISDN line, send the call to the PO, if not
provided the number to call (or if you leave this field blank), while others require the provision
of internal extension number to be reached. You can also change the number of PO according
to which SIM is called
• Volume TX/RX: set the level of audio signal transmission and reception. TX volume is the
volume of voice output (the sound that reaches the phone of the called party), while the RX is
the volume level of the voice that reaches the internal extension of the ISDN central. You can
enter values from 1 to 12, but in general the optimal level is 9 for both sides
• Enable incoming calls: enables the module to receive incoming calls from the GSM network. If
this option is not enabled, any incoming call will be denied
• Enable outgoing calls: similarly to incoming calls, it is possible to block outgoing calls (for
example you can block one of the two modules to force calls only on, or block both modules,
and only allow incoming traffic). If you make an outgoing call but no module is available, the
caller will receive a tone of deterrence
• Calling tone: this option allows you to send the caller from the internal extension of the PBX
within an alarm tone, indicating that the call was made to the GSM network. The tone is issued
only when sending numbering grid and then only for 3 seconds. Is removed as soon as the
GSM phone call is reached (it starts to ring, it is busy or not answered)
• Hide CLIP: if the feature is enabled, the call is forwarded masking the number of SIM card (to
use the Smart callback, you must not hide the number)

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 25 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

• Use module 2 if busy: this option is used only if it is used the LCR function on the modules. If
the routing rules provide for a fixed number called the use of some module but the module is
committed, it leaves open the system to use the other module (and then the other SIM, which
could be another GSM operator)
• LCR prefixes [1..4]: you can enter up to 4 codes that allow the module to be chosen for
outgoing calls. For example, if we insert 33 on the first module and 34 on the second, the first
will be used for outgoing calls to numbers starting with ”33” while the second will be used for
outgoing calls to numbers starting with “34”. If the compound is not part of prefixes, DIAL-112
indiscriminately use the first module available

NOTE: in the DIAL-112S version, it is necessary to fill in the "LCR Prefixes" field, so that the
device can differentiate which calls will be made via the integrated GSM modules and which ones
will be sent to the existing ISDN network, otherwise all calls will be routed to the fixed network,
regardless of the prefix. For example, simply put "3" on the first prefix of each module in order to
correctly perform all calls to numbers beginning with the digit "3" using the GSM modules
integrated into the device.

8.3. Prefix and numbers

Selecting "N" option ("Prefix and numbers”), will be presented the form that allows you to choose
which table to configure:

The table can be completed for each number or prefix introducing its flags to allow or block
incoming or outgoing calls. The table contains up to 150 numbers.

• Number: indicates the number on wich must be applied the choices made on the configuration
line
• Descr.: text field for describing the number or area code introduced in the table
• Input Allow: enables incoming calls from that number or prefix
• Input Deny: rejects incoming calls from that number or prefix
• Output Allow: enables outgoing calls to that number or prefix
• Output Deny: deny outgoing calls to that number or prefix
• Show CLI: when this particular number or prefix is called, will be showed the CLI of the SIM
inserted in the calling GSM module
• DISA: if you disable the DISA service in the general parameters, this feature enables the same
service made available only for specific area codes or numbers listed in the table
• CB: enable CallBack service for this number. If the caller hangs up before the 3st ring tone, the
gateway calls back him immediately (after the 3st ring, the call is processed like a normal call)
• Ext: disabling the DISA service, in this field it is possibile to specify an extension number to
which the caller will be transferred directly from DIAL-112

After the phase of numbers and parameters input, the order of rows inserted in table is
automatically redefined based on the type of parameters enabled to show the parameters in a
simpler way for the operator. On top right of the table, appears from time to time a box that
indicates the number of entry that you are editing.

There is also a function of "print to file" of all the fields from the table content, and more generally
of all the system parameters and a save function to another file. See par. 9 .
To edit an already filled text field it is necessary to delete the characters by pressing "backspace".

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 27 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

IMPORTANT NOTE: because the network adds to the calling number the international prefix (eg
"+39" for Italy), it must be taked into account how the system considers the distinction between
code and number when the tables for incoming calls are compiled. So if you want to put a value to
be considered as a prefix, add "39" without "+" prefix in front of any prefix, such as 39335 for
mobile phones, 3906 for prefixes of Rome. Otherwise if you want to put a value to be considered
as a NUMBER, then do NOT add anything in front of each number to be recognized, eg.
3351234567 for mobile phones and 0658237920 for a user of Rome, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: DIAL-112 considers the number entered as a PREFIX having length up to 6
digits. Otherwise, 7 digit numbers will be considered as phone numbers. These considerations are
taken into account in the process of compiling the table.

Example of service for RAM business users

For incoming calls it is possible to enable incoming calls to only numbers belonging to mobile RAM
business.

Example of service for registered users

Finally, it is possible to instruct the system to make sure that when you get a call from a specific
number, it is forwarded to the internal extension shown in this field. For example, entering the
phone number of a commercial agent of the company, to each and every call, the system
supervisor, that automatically forwards directly to the number of its reference normal person in the
company. It is useful for example to associate the numbers of customers into the company's
internal staff that will give them assistance. Using the automatic routing in this way, if the extension
number to contact is busy calling, the incoming calling will be hanged up without charge of costs to
the caller.

Example for outgoing blocked numbers

Reasoning in an opposite manner compared to incoming calls, it is possibile to decide, by filling the
table of numbers to block, to allow any number except those beginning with a given prefix, eg
899xxx.

8.4. Alarms

8.4.1. Dialer for alarm contacts

The system allows you to connect two input alarm contacts, and check their status. At each end of
the contact you can send an SMS to one or two preset numbers.

You can program the duration of the closure of the contact to be collected (Activation debounce)
and its time to rearm (Reactivation debounce), time for which successive closures of the contact
after the first acquisition will be ignored. It is possible to assign a text message to be sent, one for
each contact.

• Activate this alarm: empowering the vision of the contact entry to generate alarms output
• Activation debounce (mS): activation of the contact input is considered valid when it is stable
for the time set in this field (in milliseconds)
• Reactivation debounce (S): when the contact is achieved, a subsequent acquisition will take
place only after this time, in seconds, to avoid multiple messages for the same event
• Use module number (1-2): Indicates which module will be used to send the message
• Number (1) for SMS sending: number of GSM phone to send the alarm SMS
• Number (2) for SMS sending: second (optional) number of GSM phone to send the alarm SMS
• Message text: this is the real text message to be sent

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 29 of 40

8.5. Prepaid settings

The "Prepaid" mode does not refer to credit loaded on each SIM card, but the possible credit in
minutes (free or low cost calls) made available by the operator for outgoing calls (according to the
choosen contract). DIAL-112, in this case, take account of minutes of use for each SIM card
(regardless of the number called) to see if the total time of call exceeds your set. In this case you
can decide whether to lock the device, continue to make calls (it is still shown the time of use of
SIM), or send an SMS alert. Blocking of the device is done at physical layer (Layer 1 ISDN) so that
the PBX can no longer commit the attack linked to it (the call is then routed from the PBX to the
local line or to other GSM gateway). In the case of a possible incoming call, the ISDN line is
temporarily reactivated, but in this condition a possible call-generated output would be permitted.
The device is locked when at least one of two SIM card runs out of free credit (to avoid that when
DIAL-112 is committed by an outgoing call, it can be used for a second call even if the credit for the
second SIM card is full ), but the software makes sure that both the SIM being used to its
maximum (always choosing the SIM which has greater residual traffic).

Selecting the "P" ("Prepaid Setting"), is shown a mask that allows configuring the functionality of
prepaid traffic:

• Enable prepaid traffic SIM setup: enables control over the available minutes. The count of
minutes used is made even if you do not activate this feature (can be used for statistical
purposes to know how much each SIM is used).
• Toll free minutes: insert in this field the number of free minutes for each SIM card.
• Month reset day: if your contract provides that the number of free minutes are automatically
charged, here you can insert the day of the month in which the recharge is done (typically the
first day of each month). Note: because this function needs to know the exact current date, you
may need a DIAL-112 device with clock and battery (optional).
• Computing time (sec): indicates, in seconds, the unit of measurement used by the operator to
calculate the use of the SIM card. Typically this value is 60, meaning that the pricing is based
on multiples of 60 seconds (at the first second the operator will charge 1 minute, at 61th will
charge 2 minutes, etc.).

TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

• Block on end of credit: indicates the action to take when the credit of one of two SIM reaches 0.

“Never” The device is not locked,

“Immediat.” Any call in progress is hanged up,
“At end of call” Any calls in progress are completed before block
device. Note: The block is at the physical level, so the PBX can no longer
use the connection of the gateway and to ensure that any calls will be
diverted to other GSM trunk. However, to allow any incoming calls to be
forwarded, set the option "At end of call" (doing so, the second ISDN channel
is activated, allowing again the system to make outgoing calls).

• SMS on low credit: it is possible to set a threshold, in minutes, below which you are alerted by
a SMS text message
• SMS on end of credit: similar to the previous parameter, you can be advised of the end of free
credit (if your contract provides the manual recharging or if you want to be informed that from
now the outgoing calls are not free of charge)
• Reset SIM1/SIM2: where it is not possible the automatic recharge of the monthly credit, with
these commands you can clear the traffic used for each SIM card. Zeroing traffic is also
possible in remote programming (see cap. 10, 001# and 002# parameters)

NOTE1: it is also possible to use a "mixed" configuration, with a SIM card that offers free minutes
and a SIM with a normal contract. In this case the SIM with free minutes must be inserted in
position 1 and the SIM with a normal contract must be inserted in position 2. Also, in the position 2,
it is necessary to insert the value “0” for the minutes. It must also be set to "NEVER" the block for
the end of the credit. In this mode, the system will always use the first SIM until his credit
exhaustion and always the second SIM when the first is out and until it will be resetted. Please
note however that a possible second call is always permitted, regardless of the GSM module that
will be used (DIAL-112 will be use the SIM card with normal contract if the one with free minutes is
in use, and will use the SIM card with free minutes, even if exhausted, if the one with normal
contract is in use).

NOTE2: it is also possible to use a second "mixed" configuration, that is with a SIM card that offers
free minutes and a SIM used only for incoming calls. In this case, as in the previous case, put the
“0” value for the minutes of the second SIM and set the block “at end of call”. In this way will
always be used the first SIM card and, once the credit is exhausted, the outgoing calls will be
blocked (but allowed those incoming on the second SIM).

NOTE3: If you are using the DIAL-112S version, you should never activate the “Block on end of
credit”, otherwise it will not possible to use the outgoing fixed network line. In case of end of the
credit, DIAL-112S will forward all calls to fixed networks, including those to mobile phones
numbers.

9. PRINTING AND SAVING SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

9.1. "Print to file" of the system configuration

A useful feature in the system makes possible to obtain a text file with all the system configuration
parameters. Useful to store the configuration of several different customers or for direct feedback
without the need to connect with the system once installed. To obtain this function, follow these
steps:

• From the terminal window, exit from the program with the "U" command and confirm
• In the terminal program menu choose "Transfer", "Capture Text" and the name of the file
you want to create or where the print of the system configuration is added if it already exists
• Write the command "print" on the DIAL-112 command line, then wait for the write and from
the terminal program menu select "Stop Capture"
• After finishing the writing process, to restart the DIAL-112 program, write "dial"

You will received a text file that is saved in the specified location and the name chosen above. This
file resides in the PC physically connected to the device and not in the DIAL-112 itself! This file is
clearly readable with a normal text editor program.

9.2. Configuration file saving function

Another feature makes it possible to save all the system parameters in a file (not editable with a
text editor and automatically created in the PC connected via the terminal, with the name
D1234567, where the number represents the serial number of the system ). To achieve this,
proceed as follows:

• From the Terminal window, exit the program with the command "U" and confirm
• Write the command "save" on the DIAL-112 command line, wait for the response
• After the response, to start again the DIAL-112 program, write "dial"

This file can then be used to program other devices in a completely identical way to that on which
the file was created or ca be used to form the basis of parameters measured as a backup definitely
working (e.g system restore after testing programming or reset to factory default the parameters of
DIAL-112).

9.3. Restore function from backup file

If you want to reload the data in the same device, or want to send the parameters to another
DIAL-112 to obtain the same programming, exit from program with the command "U", confirm and
from the HyperTerminal window click "transfer", then "Send File" with "Zmodem protocol" and
press "send." After loading, launch the DIAL-112 program using the "dial" command.

9.4. Reset of the configuration parameters to factory defaults

If it is necessary to restore the system with the configuration in the initial state, as when it was
provided by TEMA, follow these steps:

• From the terminal window, exit the program with the command "U" and confirm
• Write the command "flashrst" on the DIAL-112 command line and wait
• After command finish, to start the DIAL-112 program again, write "dial"

WARNING: All numbers in the table and the device programming will be irretrievably lost! The
programming parameters will revert to their default value.

10. REMOTE PROGRAMMING

You can remote program the device (other than the alarm) with a simple call, both from side ISDN
to side GSM ISDN.

10.1. Local programming (from a direct ISDN connection)

For this function should be able to reach the direct ISDN attack connected to DIAL-112 (to get
through without LCR). As soon as you hear the tone of a select call, dial # # # (3 pounds) and after
the tone of confirmation, type your password: default 1111, wait for the 1 second confirmation tone,
which is the entrance as programming password accepted.

The system responds with a number of different tones depending on the operation carried out in
order to facilitate the programming:

• 1 long tone : confirmation storing data or password accepted, the confirmation tone
• 1 short tone : confirms field selection
• 2 long tones : confirms the value selection
• 3 short tones : tracking error or confirmation of cancellation entries

The field to program and the value to be introduced can be selected by dialing from the keyboard
and then “#” (pound) to confirm or “*” (asterisk) to cancel the input. For example by introducing 100
#, the system announces with 1 short tone (200 msec) the successful selection of the field (point to
point or point-to-multipoint).

Note: The number of the field to be introduced must be three digits. By introducing an
invalid number of field (or non-existent field composed of a number of different three-digit),
the system will respond with the three short tones reporting error.

It must therefore introduce the value of the field (in the example, "0" to set the point to point) and
let the system confirm the introduction emitting 2 short tone (200 msec). At this point you can
decide to confirm the value just introduced by pressing # and the system announces the execution
along with a tone (1 second) or cancel the introduction typing * (asterisk) and the system
announces the cancellation of 3 tones fast (200 msec).

If you want to clear a field, you should not introduce any value after the announcement of the
double short tone (200 msec) you have to press “#”: you get the tone long (1 second) for
confirmation. At this point you can stop the program simply hang up or change other parameters
with the same procedure described above. The time given to the user to enter the field before
DIAL-112 verify the value is introduced to 3 seconds after a DTMF entered. If you reach a certain
length of data expected in the area in question, this time is canceled in order to speed up the
programming itself. For example, if the parameter is 1 digit long, DIAL-112 verify the value
introduced after receiving a single digit DTMF, if the parameter is 3 digits long and you will enter
only 2 DIAL-112 will confirm the release after 3 seconds entering the second by the user. Inserting
3 digits DIAL-112 will confirm the release immediately after receipt of the third digit to warn that the
area is full speed and the same programming parameters will be introduced as valid. During the
programming, the call service is not available.

Note: if you do not enter any value for at least 30 seconds, the unit automatically abandon the way
of programming.

10.2. Remote programming

Programming via GSM in the same way as described above, only that we need to wait for the
response to the downstream device: dial the number of GSM SIM module of DIAL-112, wait for the
answer of the downstream or the response of GSM (if DISA mode programmed), and enter the
sequence “###“ and password (1111 by default), such as local programming. The operator will be
excluded and you can proceed to program.

10.2.2. Relay drive for remote control

The system has two internal relays that provides two open contacts for electrically operated loads
at low power. Activation of contacts is only possible via GSM by means of special formatting
commands sent to one of the SIM modules of the system: <password>! <relay STATUS> <relay
number>.

Examples:

Sending an SMS containg text “1111!11” controls the relay 1 to activate (contact 1 closes)
Sending an SMS containg text “1111!01” controls the relay 1 to deactivate (contact 1 opens)
Sending an SMS containg text “1111!21” controls the relay 1 to activate (contact 1 closes
for the set time,
see par. 8.1)
Sending an SMS containg text “1111!12” controls the relay 2 to activate (contact 2 closes)
Sending an SMS containg text “1111!02” controls the relay 2 to deactivate (contact 2 opens)
Sending an SMS containg text “1111!22” controls the relay 2 to activate (contact 2 closes
for the set time,
see par. 8.1)

For each command received over the execution of the control, the system responds with the same
message received to confirm precisely the fact that he had received it and that the command was
correctly interpreted.

CAUTION: Under no circumstances connect the contacts of the system loads from the mains
voltage, observe the instructions about the limits of relays use specified in the section of technical
features.

10.2.3. Number and prefix via SMS

The “Prefix and number “ table, because it could change often, is possible to program also via
SMS. The syntax is similar to the one used for the relè remote control:

(password) !(</>)(number)!(description)!(flags)!(ext)!

The simbols “<” and “>” are used, respectively, to “remove” or “add” the number. Each field is
separated by “!” mark. In the case of number removing, the next parameters after the number are
not necessary.

In the “flags” field, 1 means activate and 0 means deactivate, corresponding to “Allow incoming”,
“Allow outgoing”, “Show CLI”, “DISA” and “CB”.

Examples:

1111!<3351234567! Remove the specified number.

1111!>3351234567!Test!11000!111! Inserts the specified number, with incoming and
outgoing calls enabled, the incoming call will be sent to
111 extension.
1111!>3351234567!!11001!! Inserts the specified number without description, with
incoming and outgoing calls enabled. The incoming
calls will be transfered to the PO.

Please note that the fields “description” and “ext” are not mandatory and if not inserted you should
put two “!” mark as delimiters.

If the programming message is correct, the system will answer with the same message as
confirmation.

INSTALLATION

On the combiner are present the front SMA-Female type connectors for the cables from the
devices, while for the antenna cable there is an internal N-Female type connector.

Each unused input for an interface must be terminated with the appropriate terminator (code DIAL-
198-130). The system is equipped with 2 terminators to its supply.

To the internal connector instead you will have to connect the antenna common to all interfaces. It
is possible to connect this connector to a cable of large cross-section with very low attenuation for
the purpose of extension so you will be able to install the antenna away from the GSM / UMTS
interfaces, for example our code DIAL-130-L15 (15 meters) or the code DIAL-130-Lxx with total
length of the cable to be defined (max 80 meters).

If the antenna is near to the GSM / UMTS interfaces, it will be also possible to directly use the
antenna code DIAL-194-109 which has 5 meters of cable of small diameter and low attenuation
with SMA-F connector.

To allow the connection of that type of cable/antenna, a particular adapter (DIAL-198-110) is

supplied with the combiner. With the adapter it is possible to transform the connection from the
N-Female type connection to the SMA-Male type.

In the example below it is shown the connection of two DIAL-112 systems to the DIAL-192-194
combiner. All systems are mounted on a wall, the antenna connectors of the two GSM interfaces
are connected to the four inputs of the combiner. The cable that connects the antenna has the
output from the bottom of the combiner.

DIAL-112 DIAL-129-104 DIAL-112

If you have only one DIAL-112 interface, you must connect the two supplied terminators to the
combiner input connectors that are not used.

MAS-DIAL112-REV08EN Page 39 of 40
TEMA TELECOMUNICAZIONI SRL GSM Gateway Interface DIAL-112

In the sequence shown below, it is shown the correct operation for connecting the antenna cable to
the internal connector on the back of the combiner.

Alternatively, it is possible to connect another type of cable / antenna with the supplied adapter.

To connect the antenna cable, lift the cover of

the combiner after having unscrewed the 4
lateral screws.

The indoor unit has an N-type connector

suitable for connection of coaxial cables of
large cross-section and low attenuation.

Alternatively, using the supplied adapter, it is

possible to connect another type of connector,
the right SMA type for less section cables.

Route the antenna cable into the rear cover

making a hole in the rear rubber cap
corresponding to the appropriate size of the
cable.

The cap allows to join and to pass both small

and large section cables.

Once connected the cable on the indoor unit,

provide to secure the cable to the support plate
by means of one or both clamps present on the
plate itself.

After the connection of the antenna cable,

close the cover and fit the 4 lateral container
screws.

On the front connectors, connect the antenna

cables of each GSM interface. Close all unused
inputs (if any) using the supplied terminator.

In the photo is shown a combiner with 2 cables

from the GSM interfaces and two unused inputs
closed with two terminators.

Examples of antennas and cables, please refer

to the manual of each product for its proper
installation and using.
