WELCOME/ANNOUNCEMENTS Dr. Jan Davis

OPENING VOLUNTARY Festive Trumpet Tune David German

Scott Montgomery, organ

* CALL TO WORSHIP Kim Witte

Leader: Let us worship God, our light and our salvation.
People: The Lord is the stronghold of our lives.
Leader: We desire to live in God’s house
and to seek God in his holy temple.
People: We have come with shouts of joy,
to sing and to make music to the Lord.
Leader: Let us worship God in spirit and in truth.
People: Teach us your ways and make straight our paths
in this hour of worship and always.

* OPENING HYMN 73 O Worship the King LYONS

1. O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing God’s power and God’s love;
our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.
2. O tell of God’s might, O sing of God’s grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space,
whose chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is God’s path on the wings of the storm.
3. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.
* GLORIA PATRI 70 MEINEKE
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen. Amen.

SOLO He’s Got the Whole World in His Hand arr. Moses Hogan
Debby Gordon, soprano

CALL TO PRAYER Kim Witte

When we gather to praise God,
we remember that we are people who have preferred our wills to his.
Accepting his power to become new persons in Christ,
let us now go to God in prayer.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER
O God of shalom,
we have built up walls to protect ourselves from our enemies,
but those walls also shut us off from receiving your word and love.
Break down those walls.
Help us to see that the way to your heart
is through the reconciliation of our own hearts with our enemies.
Bless them and us,
that we may come to grow in love for each other and for you, through Jesus Christ.
Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.

* CLOSING HYMN 580 Lead On, O King Eternal LANCASHIRE

1. Lead on, O King eternal, the day of march has come;
henceforth in fields of conquest thy tents shall be our home.
Through days of preparation thy grace has made us strong;
and now, O King eternal, we lift our battle song.
2. Lead on, O King eternal, till sin’s fierce war shall cease,
and holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace.
For not with swords loud clashing, nor roll of stirring drums;
with deeds of love and mercy the heavenly kingdom comes.

3. Lead on, O King eternal, we follow, not with fears,

for gladness breaks like morning where’er thy face appears.
Thy cross is lifted o’er us, we journey in its light;
the crown awaits the conquest; lead on, O God of might.
