COMMENTS
The BHA was run in and after drilling cement and shoe a leak off test was carried out. Drilling commenced in the full gauge position. After
establishing a drop drilling continued with only three sets in under gauge to maintain the well's trajectory. at 1988m a drop in pressure of 1000 psi
was recorded and the BHA was tripped looking for a wash out. After tripping 20 stands and checking surface equipment it was found to be barite
sag in the mud blocking the suction lines. We tripped back in and continued drilling. Left hand walk began to accelerate beyond 2272 to
unacceptable levels and the BHA was tripped out to run a Smith 416 (669).

COMMENTS
The BHA was run in and drilling commenced. The left hand trend was immediately arrested and drilling continued in the full position for the next
600m. Drilling rate initially was very good, the WOB was kept to a minimum with 240 RPM. The ROP, however dropped off markedly over two
stands eventually down to 5 m/hr. It was decided to pull out for a five bladed bit.

Summary of drilling events:

After nipple up and testing the BOPs, the BHA was picked up and run in the hole,
tagging the top of the cement at 1206 m. The cement was drilled to 1225 m with
seawater before displacing to 9.2ppg SBM mud. Continue drilled out cement and
shoe and 3 m of new formation to 1231m. Performed FIT to 16.2 ppg EMW then
continued drilling formation directionally to 1300mMD when got over flow on the
shakers due to drilling through fine formation (siltstone, sandstone). Replaced all
shakers from HP-A200F to HP-A140 (or HP 180 old version) mesh screens
(according to API RP 13C). After drilled out 200m, observed screens and started
to replace them to finer mesh as on previous wells. Drilled ahead to 2414 m MD
when has observed wrong well path. Pulled out of the hole and replaced 6 1/8” bit.
Continue to drill ahead to 2445 m MD when MWD tool failed, replaced the tool to
new one. Observed 15-20 bbl/hr looses at 2850 m MD while drilling through
sandstone formation. Reduced pump rate to 200 then to 170gpm. Continue to drill
ahead while mixing bridging agent in system, mixed 3 ppb Vinseal M in the
system. Losses stopped and the ROP reduced to 10 then to 5m/hr. Pulled out of
the hole at 3048 m MD to replace the bit. Continue to drill ahead to TD of the well
3520 m MD/2819 m TVD while was maintaining 2-3 ppb Vinseal F/M in the
system. The mud weight on TD was 9.2 ppg and wasn’t increased to 9.5 ppg as
per previous weight up schedule due to occurred losses while drilling. Circulate
hole clean, swab test then pumped slug and pulled out of the hole. While pulling
out hasn’t observed any tight spot or drag.

Halliburton wire line was rigged up and log with Q/Combo-GR/Check Shoot-
Seismic /SWT in tree runs without problem. The Halliburton’s logs indicated 132 °
C BHT and 6.42” average hole size.

After wire line logging done, the 6 1/8” bit on HWDP was run to bottom at 3520 m
MD and displaced the well to 9.3 ppb WBM as Plug and Abandonment plan.
Afterwards was ran 7” retainer and set at 1195 m MD. Then it was squeezed 20

Page 58
bbl of cement below retainer and spot 10 bbl above. Then it was circulated with
WBM to clean out the drill pipes. Then cut the casing with 7”cutter and pulled
casing out to surface. The same procedure was done on 9 5/8” casing; set 9 5/8”
retainer at 268 m MD, spot 20 bbl below and 10 bbl above retainer and then cut
with 9 5/8” cutter and pulled to surface the casing. All contaminated WBM and
cement were dumped overboard.

Drilling Fluid Properties and Performance:

The mud for this section was Synthetic based mud system with Saraline 200 base
oil and 10 ppb Versacoat, which built at mud plant, then transported 800 bbl of
fresh mud to the rig. The fresh mud then treated on the rig to get properties in
proper range prior to displace seawater in the hole.

Initial mud weight was 9.2 ppg when drill out cement and shoe track. After FIT
done, the mud weight 9.2 ppg was maintained to TD. Also, the swab test was
performed before pulled out of hole on TD.

During drilling, properties and volume in active system was maintained by

transferring premixed mud. All the chemicals were premixed prior to transfer to
active. The Rheology was controlled with Bentone 38 as primary viscosifier to
have 6 rpm reading between 6 and 9. During drilling was mixed and maintained
to TD 3ppb bridging agent (Vinseal M/F) and was mixed Versacoat in the same
time to avoid wet cuttings by seawater.

Oil water ratio was maintained as 80/20 with Saraline 200 as base oil.

The Versacoat is the emulsifier in this system. The Electrical stability was
maintained above 600 V. Initial value was around 650 V, crawled up to 900 V
when the mud sheared and heated. The premix mud was built with 10 ppb of
Versacoat which was enough to maintain the ES in active.

Lime was used to activate the emulsifier in the system, also to maintain the
alkalinity of the mud to have more than 3 ppb of excess lime in the system.
Premixed mud was built with 5 ppb of lime. While drilling, addition was made to
the active to kept minimum concentration of excess lime at 4 ppb throughout.
Prior to logging 2.5ppb additional lime was added to the active.

Salinity was controlled with CaCl2 to have water phase salinity more than 200,000
ppm in active system. The concentration for premix was 22 ppb at the beginning.

Prior to pooh for logging extra lime, Versacoat, Versatrol and Ecotrol were added
direct to the active to ensure good properties during logging operations.

Hole Problems:
At 2850 m MD observed losses 15-20 bbl/hr. The losses stopped after mixed 3
ppb Vinseal in the system and when drilled out the sandstone formation.

Page 59
Pump suction line was plugged with barite and shaker screen was blinded due to
new mud mixed and not yet stable.

Other Problems:
None

Solids Control Equipment Performance:

Solid control equipment which has used in this section was 4 ea Derrick/Super G
3 Panel shale shakers, 2 ea Brandt HS2172 centrifuge and Brandt Vortex Dryer.
All shale shaker were ran all time drilling and circulation without any problem.
Due to drilling through fine formation as siltstone and sandstone and over flow on
the shakers, the shaker screens were replaced to finer 140 mesh screens as per
new API standard. After 200m drilled the screens are redressed again to all four
ea shale shakers with HP-A200F (according to new API RP 13 C standard) mesh
screens and drilled to TD.
The centrifuges were run as needed to keep LGS in the desired range and
maintained the mud weight. Most of the time 1 was run with an additional one put
on line when needed.
Also, the Brandt Vortex Dryer was run to reduce surface losses and saved SBM.
The Dryer discharge was passing through the centrifuge and returned back to
sand trap in the system.

Shaker Screen Usage

Mesh Size New Used
Vicksburg 30 mesh 1
Brandt HP 180 mesh 9
Brandt HP 265 mesh 9
Brandt HP-A325 mesh 2

Cost Comments:
The cost for this section was $157,393.2. The built volume increased mud cost on
this section due to occurred down hole losses mainly and partly due to surface
losses. Good solid control equipment also contributed to have low cost. Good
solid control will minimize treatment of mud.

Lessons Learned and Recommendations:

9 It was planned to use lower mud weight during drilling and circulation to
provide better ROP and increase the mud weight prior to TD to balance the
formation especially at coal layer to provide stable hole condition while
static for long time / logging. But, due to losses the mud weight wasn’t
increased to 9.5 ppg at TD as per plan. Anyway, the same mud weight on
TD didn’t effect the any hole problems.
9 Adding excess emulsifier, lime and HTHP filtration control prior to logging
would give stable mud properties during long period of logging.
